Nintendo E3 plans detailed

Some of this is plausable, but some is also hard to believe. For example...

But it was announced before hand Koei Tecmo. Plus, they didn't spend any time on it either, all they said was "BTW, Legends is coming to 3DS. k thnx bai!". It's not the same as unveiling it for the first time and showing extensive footage of it.
It was leaked not announced beforehand,

Yeah, since when does a platform holder tell you the entire year's lineup in January? I would not be at all surprised if Pokemon Stars, Retro's game, Mario x Rabbids, Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade 2 all make it for this Fall/Winter. Nintendo needs to go into overkill to keep up the Switch's momentum.

Substitute any game on that list for Smash, I think Smash in addition to all that might be TOO much overkill honestly.

We can say "yeah FE Warriors for August, Rabbids for September, Smash for October" or whatever, but in the end it can be anything. They could put Pokémon and Super Mario Odyssey in November for all we know. They could put Smash and Retros game in October. Anything is possible. We can put it into our heads how things should "fit", but we really don't know what games Nintendo has. Look at ARMS. Who saw that coming? They could show off another brand new IP at E3 ready to come this year.

Also, it wouldn't be the first time a new Pokemon was released very late in a system's life, Black and White 2 came out on the DS a whole year after the release of the 3DS. Granted, the 3DS had backwards compatibility, but that doesn't change much of anything.

This is why I specifically mentioned Gen 5 to Gen 6. They did another Gen 5 game because the Gen 6 games obviously needed more time to be developed to make the jump to 3D models. We don't have the same issue here because the 3D models they've made sure to be essentially "forward-compatible" so they don't have to redo all 700+ models again and all those animations again etc etc.

Black 2/White 2 while certainly major releases, definitely didn't take the whole development studio to make them.

No way there's smash in 2017.

I was saying anything can happen. I can only "fit" games by what we know. I can see Smash being early 2018 making a lot of sense. You'll want a big game in February/March to continue the push of Switch sales.

I forgot Pikmin 4 too. That could be announced and released this fall.

Off topic slightly but I'm having some trouble filling in the last two slots on my Bingo card. Any prominent Nintendo developers other than Retro that we haven't heard from in a while that could potentially announce something this E3?

Even still, Nintendo didn't even spend much time on it. They just said "Hey, Legends is coming to 3DS soon" then moved on. It was a non-announcement, something that was dropped as quickly as it was mentioned.

Okay, but if we do get a Stars for Switch, we're likely getting a Stars for 3DS, as well as Switch ports of Sun and Moon. Just to maintain consistency. Nintendo isn't going to give the almost 70 million 3DS user-base the finger as they make Stars a Switch exclusive, they'll slowly transition them away from the 3DS over the course of a year or two. That's how Nintendo handled the GBA-DS transition, the DS-3DS transition, and is likely how they'll handle the 3DS-Switch transition.

Also, it's possible those unused assets could be used for something completely different. Like a spin off, or the next Pokemon generation. Honestly who knows, but don't be surprised if Stars doesn't actually happen at all. I mean, gen 6 didn't get a 3rd version, so it's likely gen 7 won't either.

Next Level Games? They could have something in the works.

First time we see Mario's hair like this and not as a solid mass?

It has been other times

The thing about a Smash 4 port in 2017 is that it's really not that far-fetched. Since as far back as the Wii Nintendo has released both Mario Kart & Smash in the same year.

For the Wii, it was in 2008 with Brawl coming out before Mario Kart Wii. MKW came out about a month or two after Brawl.

Then, obviously, Wii U had Mario Kart 8 out in April 2014 and then that same year Smash 4 came out on both 3DS & Wii U at the end of the year (October/November respectfully). And I even believe Pokemon ORAS released the same week as Smash if not the same day? Yeah, pretty sure same day.

And now we have MK8 Deluxe out in April so a Smash 4 port/complete edition for Switch coming out in November of this year with Odyssey hitting in December (or even Smash for October and Odyssey for November) this year is not at all impossible. It's a port with some new additions (hopefully) so they aren't going to treat it like it's a new Smash game; it coming a month before a new 3D Mario isn't going to hurt anything. And it would only be to the benefit of the Switch's momentum.

However, I can see it being pushed to Q1 2018. Easily. But that wouldn't mean the game isn't done by Fall 2017, they're just holding onto it just like they did with DKCTF and TPHD.

To be fair, Brawl was suppose to come out in 2017, it got delayed multiple times . I don't know if the Mario Kart and Smash both releasing same years should be looked at as a pattern.

Remember though, Brawl was supposed to be released in 2007 but was delayed at the last minute. They announced it less than 2 months before the original release date.

I think SSB in 2017 isn't unthinkable but I think it'll depend on how the rest of the year shakes out. Plus, it's important to remember that Mario Kart and Splatoon will still likely be pushed very heavily for the holidays, as will BOTW with its story DLC. ARMS is also a third big, multiplayer-heavy game that I'm sure they want to have LEGS. Between all that and Mario, more than one AAA first-party game would almost be overkill. I think it'll probably come down to either Pokemon or SSB but I think Pokemon would be a better bet - if they want to win over the 3DS/handheld crowd, it's one of the best aces they have.

So kinda like Xenoblade 2, I think when SSB comes out will be a business/scheduling decision, and maybe not purely a developmental one. Though I wonder if the scope of the port has changed since it was first conceived... Serkan Toto said it was meant for launch and now it's obviously going to be well after that, almost 2 years after they wrapped 4's DLC. Hopefully that's a good sign for the level of new content.

Mario Odyssey is definitely getting the pre-Black Friday slot they love so much though, that's for sure.

Think you meant 2007... but ultimately, Brawl only really had one major delay and that was specifically to include Sonic. It was then delayed to Jan. 2008 but it only experienced another delay in the west; Japan still got it in January of that year. So, if we go by that, it was still a 3 month gap between MKW and Brawl.

Even so, I was not suggesting it as a pattern but rather I was suggesting that just because MK8DX came out it doesn't mean a Smash 4 port can't come out this year because we've had two cases where they did come out the same year already and Nintendo is not afraid to release them in the same year.

If you're wondering why stuff like Splatoon 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, etc isn't on there, it's because I'm 100% sure they're gonna at least show up in some form or another at the show so I preferred to do actual predictions instead. ARMs is on there because it releasing so close to E3 and also having a tournament makes me a bit unclear as to whether they'll show it during the Spotlight.

That 3DS image is just perfect.

Wouldn't be surprised if all of these happen. Love the 2018 panel btw!

Nintendo has the juice forreal.

Just because they have Mario for a solid anchor.

People under estimate the power of a copy paste port of SunMo on Switch, that would set fires.

Even Smash sets fires, Nintendo can't lose doing either or. But people want them to win and just do fucking METROID

Would people be mad if Metroid was on 3DS? It seems very possible.

Metroid fans are one of the reasons why the series has been dead lol. They in a lot of ways try to sabotage Metroid and other franchises like DC for example.

So yeah they would have a mental breakdown if that were to happen.

I want it all, but I do want a Metroid the most. I want both a 2D and a Prime sequel.

They seem to be understating their oresence at E3. A Spotlight video? At least call it a Digital Event or Direct.

Im prepared now to be underwhelmed by the lack of new game announcements. I really doubt they'd be making such a thing of constantly repeating that Mario odyssey will be there and playable if they had even one more big game.

i think that they arent calling Direct because it would not have the new format that was presented on the last direct i guess
