When did the last Syphon Filter release again? How many good stealth games are there nowadays?

Now how many post-apocalyptic games have we gotten, even in the past two years? Hell, Sony already has that genre covered with TLOU and Horizon. No need for another one.

All three have radically different approaches so I don't see the problem.

I had a dream that this year Sony goes "Yes we've heard, let's give you a Remastered/Remake/Reimagining you've been asking for... Legend of Dragoon!"

I would go bonkers, BONKERS!

Don't get me wrong, I completely understand how a person can not be hyped from what they have showed. I was addressing your "scripted" comment (check the other video, there should be two).
Given that they only showed one small segment from the game and what Bend have talked they are aiming, I'm not hyped too. But if they manage to pull half of the stuff, I'm positive that Days Gone will be fine critically and commercially. Time will tell.

Yeah, it could be a fine game but even having watched both videos there needs to be a lot of new kinds of gameplay to justify the, imo of course, overly done setting. Right now the coolest thing I've seen is the hordes but that's more a technological 'cool' than a gameplay 'cool' in my eyes (Horizon's robo-dinosaurs were both). I admit I was wrong about it being entirely scripted, but it just looks, well... dull compared to what else Sony is offering.

Agreed, 100%. Sony has one of the most unique line-ups of games:

- God of War
- Detroit: Become Human
- Dreams
- Spider-Man
- Horizon: Zero Dawn
- TLOU Part II

Days Gone just doesn't look like it belongs in the same tier as the rest of these games, even with it being a new IP.

4 years and no idea when it's releasing.
No idea about anything really.
We know fuck all how the systems work in kh3 even after all this time. now ppl are going to point to 2.8 in which I say that taught me nothing.
Flow motion?
Attraction flow?
Drives?
Keyblade transformations
Are they all tied to one gauge?
I could go on it's upsetting

Days gone reminds me of horizon talk on here before release

I was a big fan of Days Gone since day one. Sure, you can argue that there's nothing 'new' in the game but I was surprised to see how negative the reaction was on GAF. Just looks fun.

Days Gone honestly bored the hell out of me, and ending the conference on gameplay left a sour taste in my mouth. Especially after how unique and interesting the rest of the conference was. A new take on God of War (one of Sony's biggest franchises..), Resident Evil, a Spider-Man game that doesn't look like it'll suck etc. Days Gone looked so mundane and "been there, done that" to me. I hope it has a smaller presence at E3, unless they have something interesting to show. Should've just let Bend make Syphon Filter.

I agree with all of this.

Days Gone is as "mundane" as it is because Sony Bend had a series of stop-start projects that essentially backed them into a corner and forced them to pitch the safest gaming prenise they could to the Sony big-wigs in order to get those guaranteed sales. In an otherwise (mostly) sterling E3 presser, Days Gone stood out due to its blanket inclusion of everything that's popular in video games more than anything else.

SAD!

Just for those curious, Sony Bend's average career Metascore is a 76 while Quantic Dream's is a 78. Days Gone is Bend's first console game since Syphon Filter 4 came out in May 2004. This is of course not counting their extremely late PS2 ports of the PSP Syphon Filter games.

What made you think they didnt try to revive Siphon Filter? ND tried to reboot Jax and it didnt work out. It has been a long ass time since Siphon Filter was released, it would be better to let it die. And Horizon is a completely different game than Days Gone, just because it's set in post-apocalyptic setting means you can lump both together.

And that's a shame, because their project(s) had some of the most badass concept art I've seen:

There are dozens of AAA games with stealth gameplay released every generation. I fail to see how a Syphon Filter game would be new for the consumer, but at least Days Gone is something new for the developer.

Yes (though it hasn't been vetted as far as I know so take it with a grain of salt) in this post:

I want to be excited about this but would be nice if there is more info than this. Are people with rumors being vetted anymore now that bish is gone?

I would Like to do a question about this since we are in E3 rumors time. What happened to verendus? I heard he Was banned and he's not trustworthy, but what happened?

I'm still curious if Bend can pull it off, the game is really ambitious for a dev with just ~100 people (and they even started with much less). They'll probably get a decent amount of external help and outsource asset creation.
The game could be awesome if they don't fail to implement all their planned gameplay mechanics and even will be unique in a genre that already had many games.

Days Gone fits right into the style Sony is pushing. Those types of games are what I love to play, So automatically I was hooked by the reveal trailer. I didn't care for the endless wave demo, but it's whatever. I'm in it for the character building and storytelling.

Hopefully the game moves around and you're not stuck in a endless forest.

They are still usually vetted if a mod sees someone teasing something without contacting a mod about it I think.

He bullshit some FFXV impressions.

Some took that to mean he was bullshitting with his insider stuff but I don't really see the connection there. Verendus always did silly stuff but he just went too far.

"You can go anywhere," says Pape. "There'll be waypoint on the map you can set, you can set your own waypoints, you can fast travel for some of the areas because it is such an expansive map". And, while the demo showed a forrest location Pape says the north west American setting has been chosen specifically for the extreme environments it can provide. "You've for the mountains, snow, hail, rain wind, high dessert. City wise you'll encounter abandoned suburbs, towns, it's not just going to be in the woods".

He was definitely trustworthy, he made some very solid calls. However, he pushed his luck too much and purposely wound up certain users with fake teases etc.

I mentioned it in another thread but I feel like several "insiders" have randomly appeared in the last few months with no real source. I didn't think that Bish specifically dealt with insider vetting.

They are still usually vetted if a mod sees someone teasing something without contacting a mod about it I think.

So I gather they are not taking the Bish aproach by posting and making it know that a pm has been sent? One of the mods should pick up that torch. I prefer that way over not knowin hm if the mods missed it or they actually were vetted in some fashion.

If they have messaged the person who is teasing to vet them and are yet to receive a reply I think they do post in the thread making it known they have contacted them. Maybe not always though, I dunno.

I agree with this view of him.

Still believe verendus was legit

He could have been. But a lot of the stuff he talked about was just vague enough that you could plug almost anything in there.

He was also banned so he was definitely lying about something. Could have been if he truly played FFXV though.

After playing Last of Us and State of Decay last year, I've been finding the ultimate zombie + city + forest + underground + open world + crafting game. When they announced Days Gone, it's like they heard what I want and made it, but in the setting of forest/barn type. I didn't know there will be city/suburb/town stuff, so if they seriously included that and made the world dangerous, I've found my dream game.

In terms of city, I'm hoping for something like Division. Division had one of the best open world city map but it was also the most under utilized game ever made. They have accessible parking lots, multiple floors house rooms, underground and shops but literally everywhere is empty. Just imagine like accessing one of those rooms and there's a clicker hiding in the corner, or salvaging some resources from a subway station and a horde of zombies approaching.

Oh ok. It just seems like this year more people are posting slight mumblings and teases and it is harder to tell. That could just be me reading touch into posts mentioning thing's like, wish bish was still here and others along those lines.

That's.... pretty bad actually. KH fans, you have my sympathy.

Okay, here's my dreams for Sony's E3. Disclaimer: some of it is unrealistic, but that's why we call them dreams.

• Opening with Spider-Man gameplay featuring a mission that includes combat, and lots of web slinging and swinging. Summer 2018.
• Story trailer for God of War, showing off some epic battles. Spring 2018.
• Bounce back to Insomniac unexpectedly, teaser for a new Ratchet and Clank.
• Singleplayer campaign demo for Call of Duty WWII.
• Days Gone gameplay demo, featuring motorcycle gameplay, crafting, scavenging food/supplies, weather. Summer 2018.
• Reveal for Sucker Punch new IP.
• Uncharted: The Lost Legacy gameplay.
• Trailer for Gran Turismo Sport, December 2017, announce more robust single player mode.
• Red Dead Redemption 2 story trailer, gameplay demo, October 2017 release date
• The Last of Us Part II short teaser demo to close the show.
• Oh but one more thing, Red Dead Redemption Remastered trailer, game's been fully injected with RDR2's assets and looks just as good. Out September 2017.
• Oh but while we've got Rockstar on stage, they have something else to share with you - Agent reveal trailer - Summer 2018, still Playstation exclusive, just cuz.

I'm prepared for a incoherent mess that might destroy the series for me. No excuse.

I still believe in Agent... It's still listed on Rockstar's website. #believe

I honestly dont remember how Agent looked. Havent seen the reveal trailer in years.

Do we realy care about the game? By now we will react "been there done that"!

Which is funny because we've been there done that with all these games. None of them are doing anything completely new. I'm not suggesting that is a bad thing either but others do.

There's no reveal Trailer xD just a logo. And few screenshots which been leaked in 2011 or so.

I think the game I'm most certain we're not seeing is TLOU P2.

The way they presented the game at PSX and the way the cast and Neil spoke in the following talk at the event made it sound like the game was incredibly early and the cinematic had been made purely to let the fans know that it was happening. I think we'll see our next look at PSX '17.

Yeah, it's highly unlikely. Though, if you would have asked me before PSX 2016 I'd have bet on not seeing Death Stranding there but it ended up happening nonetheless. We'll see, I'd definitely like to see more.

SAD!

Reminds me exactly of how The Order 1886 came to be.

Similarly a developer that struggled for years and years to get a new IP off the ground, doing pitch after pitch and eventually made something so mundane and boring that it got greenlit but in the end lacked any meaningful uniqueness to grab a audience (among many other issues)

Syphon Filter was one of my favs growing up so I hope for the best for Bend. I really want them to succeed. Whatever they should this year I hope is more captivating.

Add in a From Software reveal and this conference would be ace.

I just realised that we pretty much can guess 90% of Sony's conference.

- Destiny 2
- Battlefront 2
- COD WWII
- God of War
- Spider Man/Days Gone
- SP Teaser
- Death Stranding (Kojima is teasing with tweets again)

I mean all these have a very, very high chance of happening and they all cover like 50 minutes out of the 60 minutes that will be (probably) the duration of the conference. The rest of 10 minutes could be for anything from a new third party game or some VR game to just general talking. I really can't see anything surprising here. Games like FFVIIR, KH3, RDR2 are pipe-dreams for the reasons we all know.

I don't agree with that comparison at all. Firstly, one of the founders of Ready at Dawn said pretty explicitly in an interview that The Order was a dream project of the studio's, and that it was something they had wanted to make for a long time. Secondly, on the surface at least, The Order actually stood out from the crowd in a couple of ways. Its alternate vision of a steampunk-ish Victorian England was a breath of fresh air for one thing, and the central premise of pitting man against werewolf was an intriguing one that hadn't been done very often before in the medium (but yeah, we all know how well that part turned out in the end). Oh, and it wasn't fucking open world either!

I've no doubt that Days Gone will be better received, but I won't lie, I found TO way more compelling in the build-up to its release than Days Gone. Then again, I am very partial to cinematic third-person shooters in the vein of Uncharted.

I can't wait to see gameplay of Knack 2
so I can shit on it like I shitted on the first game from that demo I played 4 years ago at that store. Hehehehehe

Well I like your last two points but to release RDR Remastered and RDR2 one month later makes no sense :/

And why so many Summer 2018 releases ? :P

I thought the RDR remaster coming out a month before RDR2 would give people enough time to enjoy the remaster before the sequel. But if RDR2 is actually a prequel, maybe it would be better to release the remaster after the sequel...
Kevin-Butler-Mind-Blown.gif

And there's usually a summer drought so might as well throw some good games in there. :P

Sony generously gonna give us multiple bathroom breaks this year with all the marketing deals they've made with EA/Activision.

Who can hold their bladder for a full hour? Thats unheard of, Caring Sony is best Sony.
Please dont let the Destiny 2/COD trailers be too long
