He also never taught them fighting techniques while they were his students. All of them learned Kamehameha and the afterimage technique on their own, and Roshi taught Goku the Mafuuba much later.

On Master Roshi, he said that Roshi could always get as strong as this, he just never tried in the past. So not the same thing where he put a clear limit on Bardock and called bringing him back pointless, but possible.

He once said Goku won't turn Super Saiyan anymore and here we are.
 
I need to rewatch the early android arc.I remember Goku getting rammed by 19, but the Gero stuff between Vegeta blowing 19 and Vegeta destroying the android base is such a blur.
 
Random thought here, in the manga Super Saiyan Goku mostly dominated Frieza the entire time, I actually liked it better in the anime when 100% Frieza starts giving Goku that work for a bit, it was that last drop of drama where you're worried cause Frieza proves he aint no joke and he starts fighting back before he burns out.
 
I liked the power drain Frieza had because you don't usually see it with the enemies, it's usually Goku, or Vegeta who has the power draining transformation, and especially coming after Kid Buu where Goku felt he had the power to kill Kid Buu, but couldn't harness it, it was refreshing to see Frieza go through that.

I always found it interesting how strong Freezer was even back then, but didn't even know basic techniques that Goku and Co. were spaming left and right. Puts the whole "trained for four months" thing into perspective. He was basically all about power aura, death balls, lasers and heatseeking razors. I mean, he didn't even have a Kame-hame-ha-like move.

If Gohan's the personification of infinite potential, then Freeza is the personification of natural born talent. All his power he had from the start and he never had to train, even when he trained he had no idea how to master the power he discovered. Had he trained long enough to master his golden form he'd be slightly above Blue level, instead of slightly below (due to the energy drain).

EDIT: Hell, if either one of them trained as long and hard as Goku and Vegeta they'd be the strongest in the universe.

That isn't what he said. He said that after his fight with Beerus he learned that it was best to train his base and Super Saiyan forms instead of making new transformations since Super Saiyan 2 and 3 are just extensions of Super Saiyan, so he may not used the anymore.

That has bee true for the most part since Goku hardly uses Super Saiyan 2 and 3 in serious fights, just basic Super Saiyan, and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan is just Super Saiyan with god ki.

Master Roshi explained this. He believe that his students should create their own techniques and styles, which is why he never directly taught them any of his moves. The Turtle School is about character building and giving a good foundation to build upon to become a complete martial artists. In fact, you should go back and read Dragon Ball when Goku and Krillin started to learn under Roshi. He explains it much better.

Alright folks, you ready to step into the grand tour? Because like I talked about earlier (And since this is basically all of DBGAF anyway,) I'm going through GT pretty much blind and doing summary/recaps from a pair of fresh eyes. With that being said, lets start with:

Uub seemed to me like a bizarre last minute addition to EoZ, like Toriyama wanted Goku to be a teacher but didn't want to use his kids. From the small research done, it seems that Uub will be getting development during the series, so I guess he has a chance to change my opinions on him (Which are as of right now: Meh.)

Also Goku, why didn't you use the ROSAT/Hyperbolic Time Chamber to spar with Uub?

I could see the logic behind bringing the Pilaf gang back. Gives it a whole full circle vibe. But we live in a post-super world. Just seeing them makes me feel that they'll just waste air time with mediocre jokes. Though I did like his attempts at whistling,

So I could be a dick and talk about how they fit in with Super's lore. I could wonder how if the regular set of dragon balls are based off of chunks of the super ones, then shouldn't black star super dragon balls exist when the Dragon God Zalama created his set of dragon balls, akin to Kamicollo making his set. But that's being cheap as it comes after this series.

What isn't though is the same principle being applied to the Namekian set. Would there not be Dark Namekian balls, due to both guardians (or the people that the balls are linked to) being Namekian? Or did Kamicollo decide to create these just for the lulz?

Can't even use the Toriyama forgot excuse here either, as he was mostly hands off, plot wise.

I had a weird introduction to the franchise. I went from Dr Slump volumes to OG Dragon Ball Sets to Kai. This basically means that for me Stephanie Nasolny is forever locked to Smol Goku in my eyes and not Gohan like it is with a lot of you.

So far, the plot feels very much like they made it up as they went along. I guess in a way that's the best way to recreate AT's writing style. (Ha)

The Dub's OST makes this part unintentionally hilarious. Like this awkward date is some super tense thing.

Early Pan is awesome. (I heard she changes personalities later on) Sassy, kick-butt, takes no shit from people who messes with her, but still a bit shy and a romantic. I hope that if Super does a time skip we see more of this style of Pan and not have her be just FemGoten or similar.

The first fight is really good too. Lots of moves that bring to mind early DB fights. I guess people didnt like these types because it apparently goes into Z Beam Struggles later on.

And then we get the ticking time bomb added onto the galactic trip. I guess it was needed, but couldn't the reason for getting the balls back be something like Vegeta needing to spar with him as an adult or ChiChi being distraught? With the time bomb, it feels like were forced to go on this quest instead of wanting to go on it.

I always liked how Freeza, and his entire crew were both lazy and undisciplined and lacked basic ki knowledge that the earthlings knew like sensing energy since they were solely focused on power. Even Vegeta was the same way before he went to Earth and his battle with Goku changed him as a fighter. I still think the energy drain was a dumb plot rehash for ROF though since Goku hadn't had SSJ Blue that long himself, and Freeza had been beating on him for pretty much the entire match when they transformed.

Then during the Hit fight Blue supposedly has stamina issues as well, which didn't make too much sense considering the previous saga.

I guess you can just hand-wave it with by assuming Freeza's form just had a bigger drain on it.

Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan is literally just Super Saiyan with god ki. It isn't a new form and it is achieved through good ki control and calmness. So it makes sense for it not to have energy issues or for Goku and Vegeta to take years to master it. And Goku only said that he wants to save as much stamina as possible, not that Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan had a major energy problem. Super Saiyan 2 is also an energy drain, yet it is still considered a relative efficient form.

Golden Frieza had severe energy issues because it's a brand new form and this is Frieza's first transformation that gives him a power boost. All his other forms have been supressing his power. So as soon as he got it, he rushed to Earth without knowing about its strengths and weaknesses. It's the same noob thing Future Trunks did with Ultra Super Saiyan.

And Goku has good endurance. Despite being beating like a pinta by Frieza for most of their fight and barely able to stand after he threw the Spirt Bomb, he went Super Saiyan and dominating Frieza who was far more fresh.
 
GT's dub music has to be the worst of all the replacement scores.

If you must watch it make sure to get the remastered version and listen to the dub with the Japanese score.
 
We now got the SSJ3 Scene for the Kai dub.

The green tint is really horrible here, so hopefully someone will finally do a fan edit, and color correct the whole set like that reinserted Yamamoto's OST fan project on the net.

You don't need to seal anyone. The mafuba could be useful because it's an easy way to forcibly move another person, i.e. get a ring out.

Problem is rishi suggested before you need to be a similar strength to the target to use it and not die, so anyone he could actually use it on would be so weak it wouldn't really matter anyway.
 
Don't really follow the thread too closely, but when do episode title leaks usually happen? Really want to see what happens after the latest leak.
 
So the return of F is all over the internet where ive been avoiding so I look a fool in here for guessing it, great. Still exciting though, as long as he's not gold.
 
Pan was such a waste in GT :(
Only worse was there were some previews that made it look like she was tapping into some type of power, and then it turned into nothing.

If I can give GT credit for something,Trunk, Pan, and Goku did play well off of each other.
 
I wonder if Caulifla's more of a Toriyama-original character while Kale's more of a character devised by Toei and Toyotaro considering Kale seems like she'll be more likely merchandised as well as Toriyama already showing a drawing of his own of Caulifla.
