Nintendo E3 plans detailed

You're trying too hard. They saw Mario in a city and thought of Sonic. It ends there.

I think the comparisons were more of Mario being in a more realistic setting than anything else. The game looked great to me, not surprising considering that the game itself was almost done as of January.

And again that's fair, I agree that the levels looked amazing and gorgeous. My issue is more with the New Donk City overworld, and the human characters looked really generic and rough, though that may just be them next to Mario.

What was so great about the first 10 months of wii u? I must be forgetting things.

It had way more games that interested me, from thirdparties.

In the first two month alone you had;

*Assassin's Creed III
*Batman: Arkham City – Armored Edition
Ben 10: Omniverse
*Call of Duty: Black Ops II
Chasing Aurora
*Darksiders II
*Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two
ESPN Sports Connection
Fake Colors
Family Party: 30 Great Games Obstacle
*FIFA 13
Funky Barn It's Farming
Game Party Champions
*Just Dance 4
Little Inferno
*Mass Effect 3: Special Edition
Nano Assault Neo
New Super Mario Bros. U
Nintendo Land
Puddle
Rabbids Land
Skylanders: Giants
*Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
Tank! Tank! Tank!
*Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition
Transformers Prime: The Game
*Trine 2: Director's Cut
Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper
Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013
*ZombiU
Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013
Mighty Switch Force!: Hyper Drive Edition
*007 Legends
Rise of the Guardians: The Video Game
NBA 2K13

Mario Odyssey looked really rough in January, I know it's a Mario game but if people are making comparisons to Sonic 06, that's a really bad sign.
People comparing it to Sonic 06 don't know what they're talking about. The realistic modern city with real people is from Adventure, lol.

As for visuals or whatever, I don't think the day time City stage looks too hot, but basically everything else does including the night time stage. I imagine it'll also get a resolution bump since it's the same resolution as the handheld.
Mother collection? Slim. Mother 3? I'd say the chances are pretty good given Emily Rogers' track record.
While I'm pretty confident that Mother 3 is probably something NoA has had lying around for months. I'm not super confident in it being shown at e3 due to the VC. They'd need to reveal NES and SNES which likely wouldn't be out until the online becomes paid. Would be a nice surprise, tho

So the ARMS direct should suggest that they won't spend much time (if any) on ARMS during the Spotlight video. So that opens it up a bit more for new announcements.

I would but sorting by date isn't playing nice with my phone.

Yeah if you like those games i can understand why. I just remember the complete disappointment and lack of games from mid December until Lego city and wonderful 101, noone of which at the time appealed to me. I sold my wii u during the summer of 2013, can't see myself doing that with Switch at present.

Wii U was just awful from the off for me once i got it home. Nsmbu, zombiu and darksiders 2 all failed to hold my attention.

Yep. Open slot for Star Tropics by Retro lol.

But seriously the rumors for COD WWII are strong from Beenox studio. I expect it to be revealed.

Its out like the week after, we could have reviews by then, so I hope they don't spend any time on it.

Putting my "I wanna believe but I've been burned by Nintendo many times before" hat on, I reckon we'll get a load of new game announcements but none that will really get people excited., Things like, a new Mario and Luigi puzzle game or brain training switch etc. Mario and Zelda in one year is quite a lot of AAA first party games, so im tempering my expectations massively.

Totally gonna drop a new metroid prime tho

The fact that we had a arms and a platoon direct, plus it covered a lot of smaller titles. Plus the fact that arms will have its own direct with a splatoon trailer, says a lot.

It tells me Nintendo will use its time correctly and effectively. Arms will be out by e3 time, and it's own direct so no need to discuss it. Splatoon will be there, but less so. Smaller titles was also covered.

This will allow the time to be spent on the the games we know nothing about, or little to nothing. It can also allow for new and exciting game announcement, whether it first party, or third party, or indie.

Furthermore, it's a Switch only presention. With a "focus" on 2017 telling me that there's things coming this year we don't know about, and since it's only a focus, some 2018 announcements are also possible.

Very exciting to be honest. I like how they are taking care of things now so they don't have to put unnecessary stuff at e3

Ah well, you got Monster Hunter 3, Need for Speed, Splinter Cell, Rayman, Ninja Gaiden, Spiderman, Resident Evil and some more during those 8 months.

So e3 needs to deliver for me to say that Switch lineup is better then the Wii U.

Am I the only one who would be glad to have some Saturn games on the Switch.
I'd gladly buy Shining Force 3 (every scenarios of course) and maybe Shining the Holy Ark again to play it on the Switch.
Damn, I really want it now : ( .

Could get Grandia by the way.

Yes! I'm going to hold out hope for a tease of the new Animal Crossing. I don't expect gameplay, just tell me that it's coming Nintendo!

All of those games combined don't equal 1 Mario Odyssey or Breath of the Wild. Sorry.

They're working on a mobile game so I'd say that's your confirmation.
These games are supposed to promote series and make people come on the Switch.
As well as making money of course.

Most definitely! I'd still like to see Nintendo mention it themselves before I get too hyped. HD Animal Crossing that I can play anywhere... *drools*

With the ARMs Direct announcement I'm wondering whether to change the "Please buy ARMs" box on my bingo card. Will probably stick to it seeing as I wasn't originally expecting any more than a tiny reminded that it's coming out.

Wait, what? That's the first I'm hearing of that. Might be the first CoD I ever buy, playing local multiplayer shooters on multiple Switches just sounds way too fun.

I have a feeling we'll see some details about ARMS DLC at the Spotlight. Something like, "buy ARMS tomorrow but also keep a look out for this DLC coming this fall!"

I'm sure Reggie (I know) said it's for both platforms. not just Switch.

Beenox Studios is a port studio for Activision, so combining that with COD: WWII makes the suggestion that they are working on a Switch version plausible.

ARMs is still gonna be a big part of the Spotlight. People hoping otherwise are fooling themselves. Nintendo wants to spotlight their local play games.

Why would it be? It's for more info on upcoming 2017 games and new announcements and ARMs itself is having its own dedicated direct. If we were talking Splatoon 2 I'd agree, but ARMs literally comes out during E3, it doesn't need a big E3 bump.

EDIT: I just remembered, it is getting a big E3 bump in the invitational tournament!

Hmmm interesting. Is the Switch the only platform they could be porting to? Is the PC version being codeveloped with the PS4 and XB1 versions?

I guess this is plausible but it's a bit more speculation than rumor, if you don't mind my focus on semantics. I recall CoD on the Wii U was announced later than the other versions at E3, so there is precedent for this. I hope it pans out but I'll remain skeptical I suppose.

Really drives home how barren this year is for the Switch if even the Wii U had more/better games at launch. There's a few titles I'm looking forward to this year so I won't say there's nothing to look forward to in 2017. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't severely disappointed so far. Zelda/Mario Kart have been played to death and nothing else on the Switch even remotely interests me. Upcoming Street Fighter looks meh and is overpriced, ARMS doesn't look to be my thing either. Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2 are really the only games I'm anticipating and I'm really not even that big on the latter.

I just really hope E3 can convince me more great games are on the way. I absolutely adore my Switch as far as the hardware is concerned, just growing impatient with the lack of games that interest me. Although, I understand that largely is on me for jumping on the hype train of a new console in its first year.

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen written on NeoGAF.

You must not hang out around here too often.

I would not trade the current + announced Switch 2017 lineup for that if you threw some cash on the side to sweeten the deal.

Might have missed something, but the "rumors" are just "Beenox is working on CoD" and that they made some spider man games on Wii U

No I agree 100%. But I would definitely trade that WiiU lineup for just BotW or just Mario Odyssey. That's why it was such a silly thing to say. One game on a console? It doesn't matter how much you like a game, that's ridiculous. EDIT: We also don't even know how good Mario Odyssey is going to be!

Very excited for this year's E3. Not only Nintendo will show their cards, Sony always surprise us and Scorpio, damn!

Guys, do you think Nintendo will talk about online features and the chat-app? I'm more curious about that than the games.

He meant the line up the guy wrote for BOTW and Mario Odyssey not Wii U's entire library.
I agree with that statement.

I know, but even the line up he wrote vs ONE GAME is crazy, Especially as there's some pretty great games on that list. Nothing amazing, nothing standout incredible like BotW and hopefully Mario Odyssey, but definitely enough to outweigh one game.

But that's kind of the thing, isn't it? Most people only buy a few games here and there for their console, like maybe 10 over the course of it's entire lifespan, so 1 amazing game could mean more than several good-great games for a lot of people, especially early on in a systems library. Of course, this is all subjective but I get where his post us coming from

Gaming isn't my occupation. I only buy a couple games per year. BotW is definitely more appealing to me than any of those games, so I agree with that post.

BotW + MK8D + everything that's been announced and hasn't released yet, like XB2 and SMO, is more appealing to me than that lineup.

Of course, I want more third party games of course, and I'd love for that to happen. But yeah, I'm not sure I would be able to part with the Switch's first-party games to get some. I want it in addition to them. Having MK8D and Fifa 18 on the same portable, but easily-accessible multiplayer, console, than I would be incredibly happy. But I will always prefer MK8D to Fifa 18.

ARMS and Splatoon will have tournaments too, right?

They are clearly doing Splatoon and ARMS stuff now to make room for new announcements. I agree with that.

I think that Nintendo has learned that one shouldn't talk and juggle too long, it is better go PAW PAW PAW with great pace and end with a BANG.

It is a lot more exciting, people get hyped and hopefully not bored. Especially if they can give solid dates right away, coming for Switch in the first year (ending 03.2018). Announcement trailers are neat, but relying solely on those won't keep my attention.

But anyway, Nintendo has kept presentations fairly short and on point this year, hopefully they continue the trend. And they keep doing Directs, so short announcements work well. They can always flesh out their info later on.

EDIT. Just to chip in, Wii U launch didn't have a single game I wanted immediately, Switch had. I bought Wii U a couple of years later, but Switch at launch. Got some 3rd party gamers for Wii U for cheap (ACIII is utter shit, blergh) but was mostly disappointed. Switch already has a few games I want (don't have money atm to get them) and more will come (those we know and unannounced games too).

Breath of the Wild alone is better than Wii U's launch month which is that list.
Throw in MO and it's a no brainer
A bunch of old ports and some ok Nintendo games vs a new Zelda and 3D Mario? Easy

Quality >>>>> Quantity

It is not even close imo

Anyone care to give a rundown of leaks/rumors that have cropped up recently? The COD stuff is new to me.

I haven't played COD in a long time, but I would definitely throw down for a COD I can take anywhere.

I heard COD on one podcast with someone saying they heard COD WWII is coming. I guess off air they told others it was Beenox. COD games on Wii U were announced later then PS and XB versions. I guess there's some picture also with Beenox?

I think it's coming anyways. Kimishima would push hard for it.

With ARMS coming out the Friday after E3, it does make sense to devote an entire direct to it so that you can focus on other titles next month. It will be fun to see what they may talk about though since it could range from new characters, a breakdown of the various ARMS, or even a possible story mode.
