So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

If people are camped outside of the NINTENDO STORE it's probably about Nintendo.

Yeah, but the store is in ROCKEFELLER PLAZA, where the Today show is broadcast. I've seen people camped out there many time for that show. And I just checked and NKOTB is going to performing on the show tomorrow. And seeing as there are mostly females camping, that's probably what they are there for.

as if NKOTB is even relevant anymore to anyone under the age of 30.

Welp I'm an idiot and lost/got my switch stolen by rushing to pack shit in my car for a long weekend trip and leaving it sitting on the side as I rushed to get the dog in and everything else plus rushing back for things I almost forget.

Awesome. Called Nintendo to deactivate my account. I mean I didn't have any credit card info in it, thank god.

It's not the end of the world since I paid for it with wii u+games trade in credit but it just REALLY fucking sucks and I've never messed up in such a dumb fashion before.

Guess I'll have to check on these local stores to see when they get some.

I have a hard time believing new kids on the block would generate that reaction and dedication from young people today.

It makes way more sense that they are just camping for a Switch because it has already happened at that particular Nintendo store a few times post launch.

But I guess your theory is not impossible so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm very curious about what's the latest news on stock situation in Europe? Amazon UK shows they'll have some stock on May 20-25, while Amazon DE and FR don't have any specific dates. I am wondering why is UK getting priority for new Switch shipments or maybe it's just other Amazon sites are slow to update their info?

In Germany, Media Saturn is getting the biggest shipments as they are the biggest electronics retailer here. Saturn had quite a decent restock last week, and the system is still in stock in many of their outlets - though not as many as last week.

Ok that's reassuring, maybe my Amazon.de order will see some movement soon.

Still haven't seen a single Switch in a Dutch store.

I got one on launch day myself, but it's still impossible to find one here.

So here's a question, gang.

I plan on getting one during the summer vacation. The fam and I will be traveling home to Canada from Taiwan, will spend 4-5 weeks in Canada and a week in the US.

I was thinking of waiting to get one when I'm back home. But the Switch is in plentiful supply at shops here in Taipei at the moment, imported from Japan, but for a slight markup.

All-in, a Switch at retailers here would cost me $380USD (going by current exchange rates), or $520CAD.

Should I just cave and get it here, since shops have them? Or is the lower price in the US worth trying my luck when I'm in North America from June to August?

So weird that it seems to be out everywhere in the world except australia. I haven't had a good look, but it seems to be everywhere here :S

It's not weird at all. Nintendo products have traditionally struggled here. Even with the wii we seemed to avoid the sellouts that everyone else saw (though it still sold well here).

It's purely a numbers game. To be honest though Nintendo has sold really well in Australia if you exclude the N64 and Gamecube... oh and WiiU.

The NES SNES, DS and Gameboy did really well.

It's just if Nintendo ship 100k switches to Australia that will last 4 months... where as if they shipped 100k to America they would be gone in a heartbeat.

Nintendo don't struggle in Australia... but they sure do in NZ.

Heck at least we have a head office in this country. They could save a lot of cash if they wanted to by serving us out of the UK but they don't.

Yeah, you're right there. I'm curious as to why it's that way, but i guess we'll probably never know. Maybe the pricing, or just the nintendo brand just isn't appealing to our footy loving, beer drinking, pie guzzling citizens :p

Hmmm interesting.
I've been waiting on stock with Amazon UK for weeks, think I'll pull the trigger on the 20th if they have some in.

Godson want's one now for his birthday. This will be fun hunting one down in the next 30 days. Suppose my best option would be calling my local stores everyday for stock?

Still have yet to see one in the wild where I live. But also I am not actively trying to hunt for a Switch so that might be why. If I ever happen to see one by chance I will probably impulse buy it.

I got in an order for one at Walmart on Friday. It says that it will arrive by Wednesday, but the order still says "Processing." Is that normal?

Finally found one this morning around 11:30AM at a Target here in central PA. Been looking since launch, went around twice a week and stopped each time at 2 walmarts, a target, and a best buy.

My local Target has 2 places where they are kept behind glass. Today, nothing in the first case as usual and then saw one neon sitting in the case facing the main aisle. Heart skipped a beat and I didn't want to leave, fearing someone else would come along, but ran a couple aisles over and found a girl stocking shelves who radioed for the key guy. By the time I walked back (no longer than 15 seconds) there was another dude there of course. So we are both uncomfortably waiting for key guy... and here he comes and of course this guy shouts out hes been standing here. Key guy doesn't know what to do so I politely tell him I think I asked the girl first. After some thought he radios the girl who comes back and says she isn't sure but points to me and says I came up to her a minute ago. He finally says it's mine and the other guy stomps away. To be fair, I did see him mulling around the area but I honestly don't think he noticed it before I did.

Picked up Zelda and MK8 of course, and a pro controller. No copies of Puyo there, but I know best buy has it in stock so I'll probably swing by there sometime this week.

Very exciting moment for me considering all the time I've spent walking in and out of stores. One thing to note is both of the employees commented they didn't know it was there and must have been put out very early this morning. I know everyone says it's easier to call and ask about stock but that wouldn't have helped in my case. It takes time to hit up stores on foot but it paid off in the end for me.

Seems to be available more often then not in Sweden, GREY might be harder to get but as of posting this there are ~40 Grey and 50+ Neon available at Webhallen.
At release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe all Switches sold out at Webhallen though.

Dang man, that sucks... :( I think that's the main reason why I never took my Switch outside of my house just in case someone decides to look into my car's window and see it... Hope luck comes your way in finding a new one

Still trying to find a set of neon joycons to go with my gray console, but it's been tough going. Admittedly I haven't really been looking as hard as I could and have only been strolling through the electronics departments of stores that I already was going to. I swear they hardly restock the neon ones as I've seen the gray ones consistently since launch, but hopefully there is a shipment of both kinds of joycons with the launch of ARMS or Splatoon 2 in a few months..

Where did you leave it in a hotel room? If you did can't you ask the hotel?

May as well just get it whilst you're in Taiwan. You'll pay the markup yeah, but you can use it whilst on the plane to & from home. Plus you won't have to spend time while in US/Canada, on vacation, waiting in line for something that you still might not be able to get. That's 4-6 weeks of use you're getting out of it, and in pretty much a perfect use case for it. I'd be spending the markup on it if it were me.

Plus buying it now would possibly have 2 other benefits: for one, if you use different power adapters than in NA (which a quick google says you do), you won't need to keep one handy for the dock once you go back home. Secondly, this might not be the case, but getting one from your home region might make it easier for repairs / warranty if something happens, in terms of them being more willing/able to do repairs on a system that was originally sold for that territory.

Nah. Left it by the car as I was packing and I went back to the house to grab something I had forgotten. Got a call there to remind me to grab some more stuff before I left. By the time I got back to my car it was gone (I live in an apartment complex with a lot of people).

It destroyed me but at the same time I'm not going to cry over spilt milk. I had to leave for the weekend for mother's day and to see my friends. Had a good time. Got back home yesterday and deactivated the account from the switch, they ain't playing my games lmao. I managed to preorder a bundle on Gamestop but from what I see here it's not worth popping by best buy until Wednesday. I might call my local Gamestop as well.

I'm going this weekend to Gamestop to get horizon zero dawn, I might as well ask if per chance they have a switch in Stock if not I'll just wait for my online preorder bundle to ship. No rush, I already beat Zelda and the other games can wait.

They did that to me. A week later I complained and they offered me a $25 discount when it shipped. The next day I found one at a store and cancelled my order.

Bit off topic but the general switch launch thread was locked and just hoping someone can offer advice - I'm a fucking idiot and got way too drunk on Sunday and lost my Switch (just the tablet), case and 3 games. Tried to retrace my steps and contacted various lost property but no luck. Thankfully it looks like my home insurance are going to replace everything. Just wondering what I can do about the account tied to that switch? Will I be able to connect the same account to my new switch? Can I get it unlinked from that old switch? Had no payment details saved at least so nothing to worry about in that regard

Edit: the loss of my 40 hour Zelda save stings more than the console ;_; Having to replay those 40 hours will just be a sobering reminder of what an idiot I am :/

Where in central PA are you?

I think you have to call Nintendo to get them to unlink your account from your lost Switch, and then it can be relinked to any new Switch whenever you get one. All you should need are your Nintendo Account details as far as I know.

Lmao my brother in arms. Lost mine too (mine got straight up stolen though)

Call Nintendo, have your account info ready and find the switch box which has the number/id of the lost unit in it. Tell them all info and they'll unlink it. Whenever the person that tries to connect to WiFi on your switch does so it should unlink it

Edit: for what it's worth I checked with my local Gamestop and they have a warehouse nearby that ships to Texas and have bundles to preorder. I went ahead and got one of the bundled and it'll be here faster than the Gamestop.com preorder. So I'll cancel that one.
