Because republicans know their is something there. They are pretty much complicit in trumps bs now. If Trump goes down he is not gonna go alone he will drag as many republicans down with him as possible.

I know it's been weighing the party line against him making them look stupid but at point they might actually look good if they turned on him got him in Jail (it looks better) and put Pence in place.

They can still pretend nothing happens (they are doing it now) and move on with less stupidity.


Now it's weighing how bad they look for supporting him against...what?

That's the issue. But with a president this unpopular, they risk being re-elected. And we all know the best way to get a Congressperson to do something is to threaten their ability to get re-elected.

That's not how it works or could work. The constitution is pretty clear. Pence becomes President to complete the term. Only way this works.

At this point he should not be allowed to leave the country. Not because he will flee but because I'm almoat convinced the GOP will set up some fake attempt on his life or something like that as a distraction.

He thinks he was elected grand emperor, not a democratic leader. This is why narcissists should not be elected to higher office. He is extremely unqualified.
 
This is where the Republican's strategy of "tolerating" their Orange Fuckwad of a president is coming to bite them in the ass. It's one thing to do their thing while their mentally ill POTUS makes an idiot of himself arguing about inauguration crowd sizes. That they can spin and get in the way to protect their own while they maintain power. But it's another thing entirely to maintain these tactics when their leader is literally giving classified information to the Russians in closed meetings where the American media is not allowed, and performing blatant obstruction of justice. At that point it's beyond Republicans "tolerating" their shit asshole of a president, the shit is on their hands now. They are now complicit. And when the bell tolls for Comrade Cheeto, it will toll for them too, because they'll be remembered as the assholes who protected and quartered the traitor.

Their strategy of party before country falls completely apart when their leader engages in this behavior and crosses this line. Because "falling in line" is more than simply maintaining the status quo, it's also THEM crossing the line. And the fuckwads like Chaffetz and Ryan haven't yet realized that they've crossed the line along with their shit president. They think they can spin endlessly and hem and haw at a distance, but they'll be right in the crossfire for not moving out of the way like the idiots they are.

That would require changing the constitution. We have a clear line of succession when a President dies, resigns, or is impeached and removed from office. Republicans will control the White House until 2020 unless Democrats take the House in 2018 and Trump and Pence go down in such quick succession that they can't confirm a new VP in between.

To an extent, I think anyone who thinks they should be the president of the United States over any other individual is going to be narcissist to some extent. Trump, of course, is a whole other level.

They can only use reconciliation for the budgetary items included in the reconciliation instructions of their annual budget so it doesn't apply to most things. It ends when they adopt a new budget resolution, though its supposed to be limited to only 2 months
