Pence and especially Ryan are pretty unpopular nationwide. Trump's unpopular too, but he's pretty much the only politician, GOP or Democrat, who has a very vocal and supportive base.
Funny thing is, I can see them keeping congress if they got rid of Trump. I can see a lot of pissed off people breathe a sigh of relief and not bother going to the polls in 2018 because hey, Trump is gone. But then the GOP would have to worry about 2020, a presidential AND census year. Especially if they end up passing anything like the AHCA after those elections.
Sure the hardcore trump supporters would go (even more) nuts, but what are they gonna do? Vote Democrat?
