Nintendo E3 plans detailed

After this Ubisoft comment about them having only one game unannounced for the Switch (of course Mario Rabbids), then that leaves me with the following options for BG&E2

A) it's real and he wants to surprise us at E3
B) it's not coming to Switch
C) they don't plan to show it this year and really don't count it for now

I think it's C. From what I gleaned of Ubi's financial briefing, it seemed like they were mainly focusing on this FY. BG&E2 is probably a ways off.

Plus it technically has been announced already... In the weird, barebones way it was.

Yeah it has been announced in the weirdest way hasn't it lol.

You're probably right and they don't count it because they only speak for this fiscal year.

I asked Zhuge on twitter, and the statements made were in reference to this fiscal year only. BG&E2 is likely next fiscal year, so this doesn't tell us anything yet (so option C).

It could be released next FY and still be announced at E3.

I heard COD on one podcast with someone saying they heard COD WWII is coming. I guess off air they told others it was Beenox. COD games on Wii U were announced later then PS and XB versions. I guess there's some picture also with Beenox?

I think it's coming anyways. Kimishima would push hard for it.

Yeah, OJ from PlayerEssence said that on the Spawncast. He mentioned it would be announced at E3 as well, so we'll see what's true about this by then most likely. He did a video today, after the rumour about Beenox broke, about Beenox being what he had heard too, but yeah, we can't determine the truth to that (though I would guess Spawn Wave or someone else would say so if he mentioned a different studio, so there's that at least).

Where did they say that? Pretty poor support if all they have for the rest of the year is a game Nintendo is likely funding and Steep.
I do not expect BG&E2 to be on Switch nor at e3, though

Everyone said Ubisoft is only talking about this fiscal year (I'm assuming that's March 31, 2018), which means BG&E2 wouldn't apply to his comment. The one unannounced game would be Mario + Rabbids. You forgot Rayman Definitive Edition too.

Yeah, I forgot about Monopoly.

Don't be surprised if that sells decently well. I don't know if they said it has online or not.

True, it's a pretty perfect game for the tabletop mode: no need to carry a massive monopoly board to your holiday destination, since the Switch allows multiplayer with the joy-cons (at most you'd need more joy-cons if you're playing with 3 or more players). Monopoly is a brilliant board game, and many love it, so I can see this be a success.

I guess it could be a decent physical Monopoly substitute, assuming the battery lasts long enough to actually play Monopoly ;)

Now that I've made it I'm not sure if I want to edit BG&E2 out of my Bingo for the year. Feel like I've committed to the predictions now.

Eh, it could happen. It may show up at this year's E3 but not release until their next FY, in which case it wouldn't count as their one unannounced game for this FY.

Seeing that Monopoly trailer and already owning Jackbox Party Pack 3 had my imagination racing for more potential tabletop/card/board/game show games on the Switch. Card games could go Jackbox style and have each person's hand on their individual cell phones. I like the HD rumble dice idea that's already being implemented into Monopoly. Give me Uno, Scrabble, Chess, The Game of Life, Scattergories, Family Feud, etc. and deck them out with HD rumble and other unique Switch features.

I can see Arms and Splatoon 2 only in the sizzle reel (with mention of the tournaments at the end). Hopefully there's a sizzle reel. I like sizzle reels.

I still think Splatoon gets a few minutes atleast.

I think Mario Odyssey gets about 7-10 minutes of time.

I'll give you a mulligan.

For the E3 sizzle reel they need to bring back the cheesy guitar riff from the N64-era "Get N or Get Out" ads, if anyone remembers those. Some more '90s nostalgia to go with the Nickelodeon sendup that is Splatoon 2.

I don't see many Nintendo teams that could have unannounced games ready for this E3 outside Retro, HAL and the Animal Crossing team.
Sakamoto's team has been missing since Miitomo (which was small regardless) so we could see a new game from them. A few of the Pikmin 3 leads are still unaccounted for. There's Also room for Intelligent Systems to have a spare team for a new project. There's also a Tokyo team that hasn't done anything in a while but their last projects were small

I think there's some notable teams your leaving out:

Mainly -

EPD group 4 - The Pikmin / 2D Mario group. Their last releases were Super Mario Maker in Sept. 2015, and Pikmin 3 in August 2013. They also probably helped with Super Mario Run, however.

EPD group 7 - The Warioware/ rhythm heaven group. They work on Miitomo and their last retail release was Rhythm Heaven Megamix in June 2015.

NDCube: Mario Party Team - They put out Mario Party Star Rush on the 3DS last holiday but they typically release one game a year.

Good Feel - Depending on how much of their resources were taken up by the Woolly World 3DS port.

And of course we'll see what the Gamefreak rumors lead to.

Not sure what's going on, but on my booth list there's something called "Booth SHUTTLE SIGNS" that Nintendo of America has booked. No dimensions at the moment.

I now have dimensions for booth 5636 though: 20 x 20 (400 sq ft).

Does that suggest there might be actual shuttles going between the booths? Maybe Mario Odyssey themed? Like Mario's hat-ship from the trailer?

That would be kinda nuts.

I think, more than any other company, Sony just seems to "Get" E3.

Until they have their conferences at a more reasonable time like every other company they can never be described as getting E3.

Also their 1 hour on content stretched across two hour shows are a total bore. For every one minute "megaton" you have 20 minutes of watching someone demoing Wonderbook.

I think it's Mario spaceship in his new game.

I wouldn't be shocked if CoD WWII comes to Switch (though I also wouldn't be shocked if it doesn't), but while it wouldn't be unprecedented, it's bizarre and frankly pathetic if NOA thinks it's a good PR strategy to withhold Switch announcements for multiplatform games that are taken for granted on PS4/XB1/PC.

Yep. Open slot for Star Tropics by Retro lol.

But seriously the rumors for COD WWII are strong from Beenox studio. I expect it to be revealed.

I would love to see how something like this would play out. You'd think portable multiplayer titles would be where its at, and yet in the past mainstream titles have never done terribly well for Nintendo. Hmmm.

Feels like its been a while since we've had a crazy huge megaton announcement. I'm hoping for something nuts and awesome for this E3. I expect to be disappointed.

Idk if it'll do really good tbh, but Nintendo needs to have it still.

Yeah we need a huge announcement. I think Retros game will fit that bill or a third party game.

What about Next Level Games? I'd be surprised if they haven't been working on Luigi's Mansion 3 all this time.

Yup I agree with that, but this is how they've done things in the past. Maybe it's because they need a porting studio to actually get it onto the platform, so they treat it as a separate announcement? Either way it's pretty weird if they think it's beneficial to be doing this.

Yeah, I'm with you on LM3 for Switch. 2 reviewed really well and sold amazing. I loved both 1 and 2, so I'd go for either for style.

That said, there was no way that NLG spent 3+ years just on FF, and plenty of rumors were circling that they were also working on LM3. I imagined they started work on 3, put it aside for a bit to finish FF, and now are back on it full time for a release next year, possibly Spring.

What was the last "crazy huge megaton" that had Nintendo? Was it Bayonetta 2? Or Retro making another Donkey Kong?

So I'm thinking we'll see the following in 2018 aside from games that we already know are 2018:

- Pikmin
- Animal Crossing
- Metroid (please!)
- Luigi's Mansion
- Smash (probably the port)

But I'm not really expecting them to talk about all of those games at E3. If I was a betting man, I'd say we'll get a passing mention of Animal Crossing and Pikmin coming to Switch without footage.

I feel this is fair, and a fantastic line-up. And yeah, I agree they'll mention maybe 2 or 3 of those titles, the ones coming in Spring. I expect Pikmin and LM in Spring, with a possibility of Animal Crossing, with that launching later in Spring, May/June. I also feel they'll put out a Super Mario Maker 2 next year, for the holidays.

Retros game too. I don't think their game is this year, but you never know.

While Nintendo stopped getting CoD games one Wii U after awhile, they were usually announced really late in the year. Wonder if that's really Nintendo's decision because it's baffling to do it twice in a row

After that excellent Direct, and the excellent content we saw, is anyone else feeling quite a bit more confident/excited about the E3 Spotlight?

Their presser starts primetime EST so it's perfect for me.
