South Park: The Fractured but Whole is out on October 17th, new trailer

Do I have to watch the show to play the game?

The game looks really fun but I've never watched South Park before

Wow, how did you manage to avoid the show for 20 years!

You're probably okay without watching the show, although there will be a lot of references and callbacks to show staples, which may just come off as new jokes to you or be missed entirely. You should give the show a shot though! Seasons 5-13ish are some of the best animated comedy around. Those seasons are just peak material though (imo), there show's consistently great outside of that with some exceptions.

You've never seen South Park? It's practically as ubiquitous as The Simpsons at this point. I imagine you'd want to be somewhat familiar with the characters for the jokes to hit, but I'd also recommend asking for impressions after the game comes out when people have a better read on the writing in the game.

Fantastic! Is it back up for pre-order on PSN? I really wanna play Stick of Truth again.

I'm wondering what took them so long. Hopefully the game nails the writing from the series and the first game. I'm a bit worried with Ubisoft developing it internally.

Obsidian always proofed to me that they are better in this regard than others. (Kotor 1 vs 2, Fallout 3 vs New Vegas etc.)

Trey and Matt wrote the first game, not Obsidian, and they are writing this one too.

Will wait for it to launch and skip the preorder business. Was meant to be a gift for my sibling but think he's forgotten about it at this point.

I wish the game only focused on the four kids (Stan,Kyle Kenny and Cartman) instead of having you as the new kid in South Park.

The trailers largely haven't been that funny (despite the last few seasons of South Park and the last game being pretty great) but I'm going to try to not let that worry me too much.

Kinda wish they took the year delay and ported it to switch.

Switch port begging already stale as fuck. I'm all for making games more accessible and available to wider audiences, but if you wanted to play all the big 3rd party games, you shouldn't have bought a Switch. It's not like 3rd parties ignoring Nintendo is breaking news.
