Anyone else think Guided Games isn't the best idea around?

Its a good alternative. When I argued back in the day, I always said that you can only get matchmaking for raids by having to beat the raid X amount of times.

Having it so your clan has to initiate a search to find players is a good half measure.

They said all the right things, showed all the right stuff, and I had a hour long erection. I need to go see a doctor.

I can't wait!

Expected more than the same number of planets as last time.

Expected a true open world with quest givers scattered about...

Expected a more dramatic difference in visuals (either 60 fps or a big improvement at 30 fps)

One raid?

Here's hoping Destiny 2 doesn't have the content issues the first game had at launch. :(

Yup I'm in. Really hope the promise of interesting worlds to explore stays true. Exploring the hive ship for the first time in Taken King was awesome and I hope this is that experience magnified.

Wow, that was majorly disappointing.

I guess I had unrealistic expectations, but after the way they were talking it up about learning lessons and changing ideas, I thought it would be something...more.

I'll throw it in the GameFly queue and play through the campaign, but some of these decisions are really baffling, like clan leveling, no 'easy mode' raid just to see and experience the content with randoms, and so on.

Looks like it's more Destiny with some improvements, and for those who loved the first one, this seems to be for you. Not for me. And that's fine. I'll enjoy watching the raids on YouTube and hearing the stories from afar.

Can't go and let Valve collect 30% of those insane micro-transaction sales now.

Y'all never complained about Overwatch being on Battle.net
or HoTS
or WoW
or Diablo

Yeah it's not surprising that it came to Battle.net

But to actively cheer having less options where to buy it? Come on now.

At least Battle.net isn't bad.

It's not great.

But it's not bad.

Not surprised at battle net integration.

Activision knows PC community is going to be pretty small to consoles. So fuck it, use Destiny 2 to push their own PC platform.

Why should they give Valve 30% of every game, expansion, and microtransaction sale?

I'm kinda surprised COD is still on Steam to be honest.

I can only speak for myself, but bullshit. I played the fuck out of Destiny, completing all the DLC and raids. Loved it. I'm still excited for this. But, I am definitely also disappointed that it looks to just be more Destiny.

Some people here are being super defensive about anyone not being completely wowed by what we're seeing.

Bungie has a good foundation with the first game. Why would they drastically change it? Why would they abandon that foundation they improved over the years just to end up in the same position they were in 2014? It's good they are keeping it like this.

Gaming fans are the worst.

"Now coming with less options!"

<overwhelming applause and adulation from consumers>

they're fans, they're excited to be there or maybe they just don't care, so what

apple keynote press crowds are highly questionable, this is totally fine

Lackluster presentation overall, and the game is about in line with what I expected. Some new content, QOL improvements, and a general refinement of the D1 formula.

Will probably be enough to get me to buy in, but not enough to have me overly excited or feeling that this is a huge step up for the franchise.

Basically. D1 plus some QOL and a story, we promise, for real. Please believe us, you guys. 60fps or nah?

This looks so cheap and more like an expansion pack. also whats up with reusing old animations? they should have sticked with the ten-year destiny plan

Salty or not, does not matter, goodbye. Go play a JRPG and take turns doing attacks.

The trolls who dont play Destiny are quite funny.

Trust me. The ones defending it are even funnier.

Btw I wasn't trolling I'm just disappointed. I guess it's my fault though, I expected something else, something closer to what they showed the very first time. To me this still feels gutted to the original "you can actually go there" concept.

I genuinely wonder what people were expecting. I was just expecting a better version of Destiny 1, and the QoL changes alone are worth my time.

A full on sequel is whiat I was expecting.

Taking the best parts of Destiny (the gameplay/races/character designs) and then improving and changing the shortfalls of it, linear worlds, lack of matchmaking/grouping tools, bland quests, lack of content out of the gate, and lack of npc interaction (IE Dialogue choices like most modern rpgs).

Desinty 1 when it came out had great gameplay but it felt very unfinished, like they were working on the game and had to quickly cut things and rush it out.

With this game they had a chance to remedy that but from this announcement it feels like they are still trying to sell an expansion as a full on sequel, with 1 raid, 3 strikes, and 4 new maps, no new classes, no new races, etc.

Well that was flaccid.

Probably great for diehard fans, but as a lapsed D1 player I feel turned off by what they've shown here. I at least expected it to massively expand on the scope of the game.

But again, three-four worlds, one raid, similar structure, no actual spaceship to fly, no new classes, reused enemies, it all fell kinda flat. If you were pining for more of the same, you've got it.

I can only speak for myself, but bullshit. I played the fuck out of Destiny, completing all the DLC and raids. Loved it. I'm still excited for this. But, I am definitely also disappointed that it looks to just be more Destiny.

Yeah it's great if "more Destiny" is what you wanted, and a game-sized expac with some QoL improvements (no more returning to orbit, woohoo) is all you wished for. I quit the game because of the lack of exploration content though, key to MMOs especially these days, and it looks like they aren't fixing that in D2. Still only four planets, and their biggest zone (earth) is only around the twice the size of their biggest zone in D1. For solo players this will run into exactly the same issues D1 did: No more solo content, please queue endlessly for strikes.

You can like Destiny and still admit the story and lore is dog shit.

I'll admit they fucked up big time disseminating it to the player. Like really bad. Especially year one.

But the story and lore is pretty damn deep and interesting if you had the patience to deep dive into it. As a huge souls fan, it rivals those games easily.

D2 needs to do a better job of bringing that through to the front instead of hiding it offline and in small mission quips that pass over 95% of players heads. It's something I'm most hoping for TBH.

Maybe, and this is gonna be crazy so follow me here, maybe.... The people who get excited for Destiny, its expansions, and are excited for Destiny 2 and its coming expansions are not the same people who complain about season passes. Maybe tons of people do feel that Destiny is an incredible game, and are looking forward to getting more of that. Maybe they're willing to see what 4v4 has to offer versus 3v3 and 6v6 beforing getting upset about it. All that is shocking, I know.

And if you honestly feel like Destiny gets a pass here of all places, you are very, very sadly mistaken.

Exactly. People forget that there are millions of people who pay MONTHLY to grind it out in WoW or other MMO's. Some people have disposable income and dont give two shits about season pass prices as long as it enhances the longevity of a game that they love.

Destiny 2 special event: Complete the event and unlock the Titan Skin for Agent 76 in Overwatch!

I can see this kind of stuff happening.

It does? It builds communities

Not gonna lie, it actually developed real friendships with Destiny-GAF. They're not making stuff up.

Have you ignored all the stories surrounding Destiny players for the past 3 years?

its changed mine. I have re-connected with lost friends from high school and made a group of friends that play every week for 3-4 hours together. This is all because of Destiny.

if you play the same game with the same people on a weekly or even daily basis for years? yeah, anything changes lives at that point

why so hostile towards a game that brings people together? we're on GAF

You have no fuckin idea if you think this is a joke.

It certainly changed my life. My GF was away for a year and I live on my own in a different country. I was very lonely and I had the most important year of my academia at the same time. Destiny made me happy, I met some amazing people and instead of going down the road of depression I ended up having a fantastic year academically and mentally...solely because of Destiny. I had something great to look out for every week, it was a constant in my life and a good one at that.

The social aspect of Destiny is why Destiny is such a huge game.

I thought it was cringy on the stream, but alrighty then.

Pretty unfortunate to not introduce a new class in the sequel, but other than that, I loved the presentation. Destiny is my most played game of all time, so definitely looking forward to this.
Kinda feel like if there is one, they're hiding it. Makes sense to have one more because they changed PvP to 4v4. Obviously that could mean nothing, but I just feel like it makes more sense in the context of there being 4 different classes.

Destiny 1 had a good foundation. Idk why some of you thought Bungie was gonna scrap all of that for the sequel. You keep what worked well and you build it up. It seems like some of y'all wanted this to be something else. That something else isn't Destiny. What they're showing now is Destiny.

I mean for christ sakes, they could have at least change the melee animations or the Super meter bar sound effect or the running animations that look exactly the same from Destiny 1. Make the game from a gameplay aspect so it can differentiate itself from Destiny 1, more third-person fluid by having third person melee exrcution in PVE or third person Open world roaming in PVE. Just throwing some random ideas out there.

It feels like they couldnt come up with fresh ideas. Theres also the fact that there seems to be a heavy re-use of assets for a game "that's been in development for 3 years".

Im down either way for the cool new Supers and as a year 1 fan of Destiny.

But this could seriously have been so much more. Gameplay and graphics wise.

Sorry to ask this again, but the thread is moving fast. Was there any word on whether weapon balancing would be separate from single and multiplayer, or is the balancing still linked? I hop it's separated.
