Nintendo E3 plans detailed

After that excellent Direct, and the excellent content we saw, is anyone else feeling quite a bit more confident/excited about the E3 Spotlight?
Just a little bit. I never had any doubt with Nintendos's E3 with the way they've handheld every single Direct this year has been so good. They're on a roll and at E3 is where you bring the bombs.

Hate to ask someone to do it, but can someone make a list of all the confirmed and rumored 1st/2nd party games in development for Nintendo? Kinda like that Sony thread.

I think ARMS will be a huge focus of E3 for Nintendo since the game comes out literally the day after E3. Mario Odyssey will be their big fall title focus and Splatoon 2 will be shown around as well. Other than that, I'm not expecting much else from Nintendo except for maybe an update on the Switch's virtual console

Sorry, can't detect if this post was a joke post or not.

In terms of new announcements, your prediction would actually contain less than last E3, which is saying something.

We just had a big focus on Arms today that basically revealed everything we need to know?? Plus there is a tournament for it at E3. It's not gonna be a focus for the showcase, Splatoon 2 is more likely.

I hope Splatoon is kept to an absolute minimum in the spotlight(direct). Just a trailer at most, no need for a long developer discussion about it. It's already got the attention. Plus it's gonna have that tournament.

You can have a specific Nintendo direct before launch just like the original.

The showcase/spotlight it gonna probay focus on four core games for this year with extensive gameplay. It will be Mario, Rabbids(it's gonna be announced there anyways), FE Warriors and Xenoblade(if it comes out this year). They'll probably also show gameplay of additional ports and announcements from third party developers for this year. Then show us teases of what we can expect next year.

I love the Animal Crossing guys got to make a new IP in Splatoon. I love the Mario Kart guys got to make a new IP in ARMS. This is all I ask for Nintendo to let Retro do too. Everyone in Nintendo has great creativity in them. I really hope Retro has that same freedom and their new IP is a big single player experience since ARMS and Splatoon are multiplayer focused.

Donkey Kong multiplayer focused game.

I would take it.

My dream game is a spiritual sequel to Goldeneye/Perfect Dark developed by Nintendo.

That hole never got filled for me in the long term, although Timesplitters 2 was good when it came out.

An FPS with a focus on local split screen multiplayer as well as online. Stealth elements like GE/PD and similar mission structure and difficulty level changes.

Do they even have the people for these kind of games? I mean Nintendo is pretty versatile but there are certain aspects they simply can't replicate without bringing people/studios from outside, especially not Japanese ones.

All this talk of ARMS and Splatoon at E3 is depressing.

We've seen heaps of stuff from both games, and they are both nearly out. Content related to ARMS and splatoon should be limited to tourneys and maybe an inclusion in a sizzle reel. :-/

I'm excited, with how bare the last couple Nintendo E3s have been it's only a matter of time before the next hype one. Fingers crossed for another new IP.

I don't care about Mario at all, so unless there is some fire emblem or xenoblade stuff going on, I will just catch the highlights on gaf threads.

I'm really really glad they went into such detail with Arms now, cos it means E3 will hopefully be Arms lite and thus we'll have tons to look forward to thats not Arms related. Not that I think it looks bad, I just thought Arms might be end up dominating the treehouse.

Anyone care to give a rundown of leaks/rumors that have cropped up recently? The COD stuff is new to me.

I haven't played COD in a long time, but I would definitely throw down for a COD I can take anywhere.

Ok. Not including links. You have to Google yourself.

All are rumors that have been discussed on here or a few other sites in some form:

Pacman Maker
COD Beenox rumor
Mario Rabbids
Madden
BG&E2
FFVIIR
SMT V is not Switch exclusive
MH XX HD
New Toejam and earl and mutant league football arriving by this holiday
Pokemon stars ( not third party though)

Then they have far out rumors and just plain gossip as plausible as some may be.

Hearthstone
MGS V or twin snakes Hd.
Overwatch
Rocket League
Another surprise from Konami

And one guy says
SW battlefront 2 is coming to Switch as well as EA made Rouge Squadron

Oh..and the Steep had been cancelled in favor of South Park. Since SP and Mario Rabbids use the Snowdrop engine.

I know these are rumors, but this makes no sense. For this to be true, ubisoft would have to not know what engine steep is on. But since they do, it's more likely steep and South Park show up. Steep doesn't really make sense for a portable system, since it's online only, but even if they cancel it, the engine is most likely less of a reason than them thinking there's no market for it, but after MK8Ds success, they'd be foolish to not put a racing game on the system.

Yep, I have a feeling we're gonna see at least one new IP, likely in the form of a smaller game like that one showed off in the April Direct. I'm really hoping we see some FPS not named Payday though. CoD would be good to have but I'd love to see a Nintendo made FPS. Probably not gonna see that this year though.

Yeah that was my thought when the ARMS Direct was announced. It's out right after E3, so hopefully they just spend a couple minutes talking about the tournament and then dive into new stuff.

Wow, some of those are very interesting and clearly bullshit. Though if by some miracle EA does make a Rogue Squadron I'm gonna lose my mind. You should print those out and take a picture of the sheet at an angle. Don't forget to put "Confidential" on top. And add in Diddy Kong Racing at some point.

The only real possibilities in my opinion. Would love for any of those other rumours to be true though.

This E3 is going to be so much fun for every company. I expect a great year for E3.

I think people are doubting Nintendo a little too much as far as what they'll show. If it's a 45-50 minute presentation that's way too long to fill with an indie reel, Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem Warriors, Pokémon Stars, Smash port, Mario Rabbids, ARMS, Splatoon 2 and even VC with online.

Mario Odyssey should get the most screen time and I don't see it being more than 10 minutes. It's good to get a lot of info, but there's such thing as too much focus when it's a presentation that covers many games.

E3 2014 (one of the best ever) had
-Zelda (new game)
-Captain Toad (new game)
-Hyrule Warriors
-Splatoon (new game)- got the most time being 6 minutes
-Smash for Wii U/3DS
-Kirby and the Rainbow Curse (new game)
-Star Fox (new game)
-Xenoblade Chronicles X
-Yoshis Woolly World (basically a new game)
-Mario Maker (new game)
-Pokémon OR/AS
-Bayonetta 2
-amiibo announced

Geeez I forgot how many new games were announced. There was a lot to this. Splatoon got the most time and it was only 6 minutes. Reggie even talked for a few minutes too.

Games like Captain Toad, Kirby and Mario Maker got trailers and moved on.

Take into fact that the new direct style that was shown in April went through announcements fast but also provided a good amount of info.

Exactly. The way the last Nintendo Direct went I think they'll follow that format because I expect this time, unlike 2014, Nintendo has third party games to promote too. They can focus the most Mario Odyssey getting the most time. Then there should be a second group of games that get "average" time being 3-4 minutes and that can be a few games. Everything else can have a trailer or be in an indie/third party reel.

I wonder what they'll start with and close with? Let's say Pokémon Stars is real or Smash or Metroid. It'd be hard to decide who starts the Spotlight and who ends it. I'm thinking Mario Odyssey would start it off.

The great about the 2014 Nintendo E3 was that (AFAIK) nothing about the E3 content except Mario Maker was leaked. I'm more concerned about late leaks ruining the E3 surprises, rather than the actual E3 content.

The name Spotlight evokes a sense of deep diving on the games that they show, putting the games and the creators themselves under the spotlight as it were. I expect demand hours of Koizumi talking about Odyssey. Also, clicking, lots and lots of clicking.

I don't think anything will be leaked because as far as I can remember none of Nintendos E3 Digital presentations have been leaked.

The only problem this time is games may have leaked because of the Switch being in development and just being released. So we have Smash, Pokémon and Mario X Rabbids rumors that we probably wouldn't have had if the Switch was going into its second E3.

That would be a fun thread: how many clicks will be heard during the Nintendo Spolight at E3?

Mario Maker was leaked at E3 2014 because a E3 worker took photos of the booth. 2015 and 2016 didn't have much to leak.

I didn't mention Mario Maker because you already mentioned it and yeah I remember when it leaked because someone took a picture lol. Don't forget nothing leaked from Nintendo's 2013 E3 Digital presentation which included 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros and DKCTF.

That's gonna probably be included in the Easy Allies bets.

I was going to say this because they did bets for the January presentation. It was so funny. I hope they do it again for E3.

I would love if this were Retro's game.

People were adamant that the Mario Maker leak was fake because the hand on the image matched a previous template nintendo used lol.

Also I remember the E3 that DKCTF was announced, a few days before we got an image of the lanyard which is always nintendo themed and it had an image of DK on it and sombody jokingly suggested that Retro was working on DK lol...

What's the Madden rumor? Thought it was only coming to PS4 and Xbox One.

So the Madden rumor is two fold. Some of the bigger sports sites allure that EA still has the clause with the NFL, that they must release at least one version of Madden on all Major systems. What constitutes a major system? I don't know. But Madden has come at least once to every Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo system since exclusivity started in 2005. So one wood assume Nintendo will get Madden at some point.

The second, was the EA guy interview were he let it slip that EA has TWO games on development for Switch. What other game is anyone guess. But Madden makes most sense.

Finally, if EA was making Madden for Switch they wouldn't have announced it in Japan, cause it would not have moved the needle at all. Since the majority of the world doesn't play madden. They would wait for an American opportunity to announce it, like E3.

Don't shoot the messenger. I'm just paraphrasing what I read.

On another note, I don't know if it is COD. BUT I would bet my lunch, that Nintendo has a FPS for this holiday. There is a tremendous opportunity on Switch. I expect someone to try and capitalize on it.

Hmm I didn't hear about the Madden stuff. I'm 100% firm believer Switch is getting COD this year and it will be shown at E3. There's no way Activision is missing out on this.

I thought the same thing, but someone on GAF pointed out that said clause was only for FIFA. If I'm mistaken, please correct me.

So are we expecting a lot of ARMS at E3? Nintendo made their case for it yesterday (a damn good one) and they have weekend demos coming up. Will we get a tease of the first round of free updates or will they spend their time elsewhere?
