I get the feeling that depending on the price of scorpio, it seems like a good closing point. Like announcing the price $399 at the end of the show seems like a plausible ending point.

That or perhaps an available now announcement? Not sure what they could do in that department, maybe something like Xbox OG Port/Remaster like Phantom Dust or an open beta for CD3/Sea of Theives. Any ideas?

Massive scale Fable reboot or a Banjo-Threeie reveal could be pretty good closers

Hype is pretty high for me.

I really wish I knew right now what extra effort (if any) Harada is putting into the Scorpio version of Tekken 7 so I could know what version to get now..argh.

It'll be interesting to see how hard EA is working on the 4K versions of Madden and FIFA 18 for Scorpio. I would think with MS having marketing rights for those games they'd want these franchises to be a big part of the presentation.

I'm also hoping for a 'remastered' Scorpio patch for KI running in native 4K with all new UI and HUD and maybe some new costumes and revised/fixed retro costumes.

Hype is high, but not as much as for the Sony conference or Nintendo's. We know Sony's will rule due to the sheer amount of exclusive titles and/or games, they're easily the most anticipated conference ATM and it isn't close. Nintendo could either do well or really poorly, if they focus entirely on Switch games this year it will be a disappointment, but hopefully there are some big surprises.

I'm probably a 6/7 as well, I'm excited to see what Scorpio brings to the table, but the less Microsoft addresses the elephant in the room (exclusives) they more issues they will have.

Fable reboot could definitely do some big numbers if they positioned it as something akin to Witcher or even BotW

That would be the best possible scenario but chances are they still want to make it like a MMO or something. I doubt MS has a lot of faith in a SP focused Fable.

I doubt any MS first-party game will launch without microtransactions/GaaS model in the future. Not sure how you build a Witcher-like experience around that. Maybe BotW with crates full of weapons and ingredients.

This E3 conference is either going to be great or terrible. We know Scorpio will be fairly impressive hardware wise; the remaining question is if they have any software surprises to go with it. If we come out of this conference with just Crackdown, State of Decay, Sea of Thieves and bunch of third party games (Shadow of War, Assassin's Creed), people are going to react extremely negatively.

Yeah, if MS were to do something like that, it would have to work as a GaaS type game too.

Well Phil did say he wanted both MP and SP games to succeed on their system. That SP was crucial or critical but yeah, so far most of their games have been GaaS with exceptions like QB and Recore. It's probably the end of SP only games.

I guess if they really wanted they could make a SP focused Fable with a MP mode in it with all the typical GaaS stuff in it. Question is will people really bother with that MP?

But it's undoubtedly wise to expect this and not have crazy hopes for huge announcements. I really think they want to let Crackdown, SoT, SoD to shine and that's understandable too. Wouldn't surprise me if this E3 for MS is small on the surprises. If what Phil said is true, same kind of dedication as how they improved Xbox will be for first party, that sounds like not much has been established yet and is probably something for next year.

But I already know plenty of people will be disappointed because they hope for things that sadly seem unrealistic to me, to expect them that is. I do think we would have had some leaks by now too. Keeping your expectations in check is best to do, even if it sucks because with a new system and all the excitement it brings you want awesome new game announcements too.

A rebooted Fable chasing the Witcher/Zelda BOTW/Horizon crowd would be huuuuge for me, imagine a Fable with similar scope with the good old Fable humor? Make it more action RPG, a better skill tree, give it a character creator with a default male/female appearance and VO like the Mass Effect series and call it a day, as for the GaaS model they could sell 2 or 3 big DLC like Cd Projekt, and sell some cosmetics shit to please those who like this.

I am sure they would make some good money with that, IIRC even the awful Fable 3 sold more than 4 million copies, I am sure that a rebooted good Fable would sell similarly.

Look, I don't have any expectations for them to deliver something like a Horizon or a Bloodborne. But they are desperately losing the mindshare war right now. Every major game for the first six months of the year was not available on their platform. Zelda, Horizon, Persona, and Nier all dominated the gaming zeitgeist so far in 2017 and Microsoft hasn't been able to participate at all. VooDoo Vince Remastered, Phantom Dust, and Halo Wars 2 are nice complimentary pieces to a library but don't move the needle.

What I'm hoping for here is that they just show something that is not expected. It can even be more than a year out - just give us a taste of the future of Microsoft first-party.

I would be all over that. Many open world games are pretty serious in tone, so a Fable resurgence is well overdue.

I would be completely behind this, completely. But the thing is, what studio? Lionhead is gone and unless they have been in talks with a studio....... It Seems there won't be much. Besides there was a rumor that Fable Legends was back on track. Wasn't there? Not the news we hope for if it's true, but yeah.

I totally get you man. I wish nothing but great things for Xbox too. To this day i still prefer it over the other two, but I refuse to get my hopes up about anything. That way if the show really isn't bringing much new stuff it won't disappoint me too bad. That's always better. Would love to be wrong. Hopefully some announcements like how they came with BC. Nobody saw that coming.

For Honor and Ghost recon were the most talked about games this first part of the year. Don't fall into the gaf trap of thinking people those games dominate anything. Zelda sure

Sales wise maybe simply by volume. Zelda, Horizon, and Persona were big games that were not multi-plat with one or two arguably being genre-defining. Neither of those two games you mentioned will be remembered come GOTY across the board Gaf or not.

Microsoft might just do with Scorpio what they did with the new Surface name. What do you guys think about the New Xbox One as its name?

They could just name it Xbox Pro and call it a night.

I honestly have no idea. Scorpio already is a known brand and it's probably not going to be used? Dunno....

nop. it was already confirmed, that Scorpio will not be in the product name.
But the SOC is called Scorpio engine

only new Xbox One does not fit imho, because it's different from a regular Xbox One (S)

Xbox One X

yes
XBox One X
XBox One "10"
big leap, still the same. back the just Xbox
imho that makes perfect sense

Neither will Destiny 2 when it comes to the end of the year. But you'd be silly to say that's not more important than any game losted

Full conference leak incoming!

¯_(ツ)_/¯
That's what happened last year. You know it's coming

Now were on a different conversation as far as importance that is something else. You specifically stated being talked about talked as in media spin, social media mentions, actual people talking, dialogue/discussion about game. Those 3 games were talked about quite a bit. I have to say that I find it odd that out of so many IP's and games that Destiny 2 is the game people are looking for to define the Scorpio. Maybe I am looking at it wrong...

I digress Destiny 2 will be a huge game agreed. You talk like this in real life? You sound like a Game of Thrones commercial!

Who thinks "Playerunknowns Battlegrounds is available...right now on the Xbox Preview program!"

We know its coming and the devs said they have it running on Xbox. Seems like a gimme.
