Nintendo E3 plans detailed

Funny you mention that - wasn't there a rumour that From was toying with the idea of putting the complete trilogy on Switch after they were able to get it up and running? They WERE on that big third party image that Nintendo showed at the initial Switch conference....

Yes, that rumor existed a while back. Can't recall where it originated, though.

The one game that keeps coming to my head that Oregen said would "create a thread for the archives" was a famous RPG back on the SNES lol. You know the one that was called III, but really it was VI!

*wink wink*

There have been a lot of rumors about that but they all come from hit-or-miss sources like Geno (mostly miss). That could do it though I suppose.

Well I'm hoping some sort of Fromsoft announcement for the Switch, since I think they and Codemasters are the only two names on that list that haven't yet been accounted for. Obviously Dark Souls 4 isn't happening at all but I'd love a remaster or trilogy. I don't think that would create a thread for the archives though.

Neither would an exclusive souls-like in my opinion.

It was from Laura Kate Dale. No idea how trustworthy that particular source/rumor is though.

Fair enough. It is pretty interesting that From appeared on that graphic though. Whether it's an exclusive game a la Bloodborne or some kind of trilogy/collection, it's good to know they're interested in putting their games on Switch.

IMO, AC could have been in development for Wii U in early 2015, but then the decision was made to push that and other titles to the next console, and then AC: amiibo festival was created as a quick 2015 fix, using the same assets.

I think a lot of people forget the Wii U was a failure and Nintendo had to make the choice at some point to not make bigger games and spend money on games for Wii and focus on their next system. Lots of these games like AC or Metroid could've been in development for 2-3 years, but once they saw the failure of the Wii U just held on to them for Switch. Same thing for Pikmin 4.

True..even if they only showed announced content..it would be better than 2015.

...but it will be a letdown if we don't get at least a couple of big new Switch games announced.

I think it's guaranteed we get big new Switch games. I think people are overly worried when Nintendo said they're "focusing on 2017 Switch games". I've seen so many videos saying "well there goes any big new game announcements for 2018"

Regarding Switch AC: I still say it's held until 2018 or even 2019, but the people saying that it could've very well been in development for Wii U aren't wrong. The only thing that makes me think they might've never had a "core" AC game in development for Wii U was because of those comments that the AC director made about the franchise after New Leaf came out. He said something like "we don't know which platform to make a game for next, where to go from here" etc. - and that let to Happy Home Designer and Amiibo festival, and between those two games I'm not sure they had time to get an AC game going on Switch before Nintendo said "move it to Switch".

Nintendo should just follow this dude's lead for the Switch game though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wt1LHFlBO6M

Even that had good moments. The Nintendo World Championships and sudden Earthbound Zero release were awesome. They just lost all momentum when it came to the actual event.

That was the biggest problem, the pre-event stuff was so good (was this the year with a mini-Smash direct too?) that people assumed they had so much to reveal that they were throwing stuff out into pre-event territory. Had they put as much of that stuff as possible in the actual direct it would have been better received.

If Nintendo announces a Smash port with new characters I hope King K.Rool gets in.

He HAD to have been at the top of those survey results - there's no doubt in my mind.

Hell, if they ever make another DKC I hope King K. Rool gets in. Huge mistake not having him be the villain of either of the last two games.

Oh, it was LKD? Never mind, then. Terrible track record with software.

I think we know what's going to happen. Retro wants to close out the DKCR trilogy with Kremlins in the final game. That's the only way a 2D DKC should be made if they make another one.

Ya know, I'd be a little upset about that if it was on Wii U but there really aren't any 2D Nintendo platformers out for the Switch yet are there... That's actually a fair bit surprising. None announced yet either.

I still hope we see Mario Maker (or Mario Maker 2) but I'm starting to lose hope since it wouldn't work that well docked.

I could see a Mario Maker game on Switch working like this: In handheld mode, you can create, play and share levels. In console mode, you can still play and share levels but you can't use the level editor and create levels.

That VOEZ game is only playable in handheld mode, so it's not entirely unprecedented.

If we went by "the data" that the fans were throwing around during the ballot period, Bayonetta would never have gotten in, since she barely appeared on them.

The truth is, we have no idea where any character placed.

I'm hopeful that we'll see a Mario Maker 2 on Switch, but I can't say that I want to see the first one. It was a neat idea but I'd like to see them expand on the idea further. I think it'd be neat if Mario Maker 2 could use motion controls when docked. Both the Pro Controller and the JoyCon support gyro aiming so they could definitely use that as an option.

I'm just as shocked as you are about the lack of 2D platformers on Switch though. Playing Mario Run prior to launch had me itching for a 2D Mario game or at least a platformer. At this point I'm more than willing to accept Virtual Console games to get my fix there. I'm all in on betting that the big VC reveal is part of their E3 show.

I hope VC is big for Switch. Really been waiting on that.

Potential up through GCN at least...no region lock...portable...

That sounds heavenly... If the Gamecube rumors are true, I'm interested in seeing how they handle the lack of analog triggers. I'm sure they'll do it via extra accessories, but can I dream about a Wavebird 2.0?! I'm not sure I'd dig GC JoyCon

Well people cried and moaned there were wayyy too many platformers on the Wii U and now there's none on Switch. Nintendo knows they can't have them because people complained that's all they had so they're making the right decisions. 2D platformers can come later.

No, this is a bad idea. Not everybody wants to create levels then have to dock it then take it out to create then dock it. You should be able to create and edit levels while it's docked. Just use the pointer controls with the joy con or analog sticks or use the Switch app on your phone to connect to Mario Maker to design the levels on your smart device while the game is docked.

I don't think that they will mentioned the paid online services during the transmission. Hence a lot of people will complain, they should talk about this in another opportunity.

Probable:

Mario & Rabbids RPG

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a very obvious show at this point. It's supposed to release in August or September. There's no way it isn't shown at either Ubisoft's conference or Nintendo's Spotlight (or both).

Notice how I only put already announced stuff in the obvious category? Nothing is certain until they show it, no matter what, people have been burned about way more "obvious" stuff in the past, thinking they were lock-ins while they ended up not showing.

Of the three most heavily-rumoured-yet-unannounced games (Mario + Rabbids, Pokemon Stars, SSB4 Deluxe), Mario + Rabbids is the most likely solely because Ubisoft is probably the leakiest ship in all of gaming. Pretty much every single one of their games has been leaked before their official announcements, with tons of details. Remember when Assassin's Creed IV leaked because someone was sitting next to a Ubisoft employee on a plane?

This. I don't think it's a coincidence Nintendo's last epic E3 was the one where AC 3DS got revealed.

It would be amazing if they did that with Switch.

"Hey here's a dump of screenshots and videos from basically every Switch game we have in development!!"

The end of of this year should be great for switch and Nintendo

We are ending the year with great quality 1st party titles and indies

I expect Zelda to be winning all the game of the years awards

And Mario launching at the end, likely with great reception

It's going to be great

It's going to have a hell of a competition that's for sure.
Ehh...in all honesty, the only games I see that'll give it trouble will be Super Mario Odyssey and Red Dead Redemption 2, assuming it comes out this year. Not because the other games are bad, they're either not as well known or not as critically acclaimed

I'm just thinking about the next few months on Switch and realizing that I honestly just want games dated past July at this point. Let me know what I have to look forward to for August/September/October! ARMS/Spatoon 2/Cave Story are more than enough for me in June/July but I need more after that.

Hoping Pokemon fits into one of those months. That'd be a fantastic start to fall.

That mario rabbids game is doing me huge concern. I feel like its gonna be as bad as it sounds.

Anything using the Rabbids sounds bad at first but I have a feeling this game will be better than most people are expecting right now. It is also a game using the Mario brand and not many of them ended up being bad.

RDR2 is already officially delayed to Spring 2018, just FYI.

I'm betting FE Warriors and Mario x Rabbids will be filling August and September. For October - December we have Mario and Xenoblade announced already, but I'd guess Stars and/or Smash will also be announced for these months.

True, although games released earlier in the year usually struggle more I believe, it's could go either way. I've a feeling Horizon will surprise quite a few people too.

Breath of the Wild seems to be leaving a lasting impression. It's not something that usually happens with many games. Quite extraordinary. It will also receive DLC which means it will still be fresh in everybody's mind. Horizon is great but the general opinion seems to be that it doesn't quite reach Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

I hope this won't turn into yet another Zelda vs. Horizon thread.

That is true but BotW looks to be an exception to the rule with just how much critical acclaim it got and how much most people who played it, loved it. I have no doubt Horizon is a great game, thinking of picking it up after Persona 5, but I don't see it beating out BotW as it doesn't seem to have the same level of praise or appeal

Oh shit, was that just recently announced or was it known for some time?

Oh right, forgot about the dlc. Yeah, that'll definitely help. :)

Zelda is definitely not winning all the game of the year awards. Horizon and Persona 5 are going to win a few. Probably some other games from the fall as well.

Well no one is saying it'll win them all, no game has ever done that in the year it came out, but it'll likely win a majority or more than most

It's been on the first page since yesterday, I'm surprised you haven't seen it.

Anyway I think Zelda will probably get the majority of GOTY awards (at least more than any other game will) but of course there will be other winners. It also depends on when Mario Odyssey comes out, since it might not be out in time to make it onto some lists.

Ah dang, that's a good point! Do you think Nintendo would give both of those titles their own month as they have been doing with first party releases? I kind of like that approach.

Alright so my predictions will be this.

The conference starts out with a trailer for Smash 4 Switch early 2018
After is when Mario O gets its focus for around 10 minutes and November release
First trailer for a new game is Rabbids and Mario after releasing in August or September
Then they will go into Xenoblade 2 for a release month of December
After is a small trailer of Splatoon 2
Then Kirby for Switch(I think it'll be a full on jump to 3D and change the formula like Mario, Pokémon, and Zelda)
After is Skyrim Trailer for August
Other 3rd party ports announced(COD and South Park)
Animal Crossing Switch for Early 2018
3rd party exclusive
Pokémon Stars reveal
End with Retros game.
Sound reasonable?

I like it! I'm personally betting on Virtual Console and an OS update being there so I'd add that in for sure. Not sure if I'm convinced about CoD and South Park but I'd love to be proven wrong there. Kirby strikes me as a 3DS game but I'd love it to be on both at the very least. Did we even get a "normal" Kirby game on Wii-U?

I just think that since Nintendo is changing up the formula for a lot of their big franchises that Kirby will be next. But that is just me lol. Plus they can't keep depending on the 3ds forever for the series.

Oh damn, I honestly didn't see it. I mainly stick to Nintendo threads so that might be why. That and I've been playing a ton of Persona 5 for the past few weeks :P

Yeah, same. Although, would November really be too late to win GotY awards for Super Mario Odyssey? Has that usually been the case?

I definitely agree! I don't think they specifically stated that the unannounced Kirby game would be 3DS only did they? Seems like a very good candidate for a simultaneous release.

Edit: I just re-watched and they specifically mention that it'll be a multiplayer Kirby game for 3DS this fall... Guess that rules out Kirby on Switch this year.
