I LOVE how quickly the general opinion turned around on that after the full cover leaked haha

This looks excellently zany, hoping the gameplay looks good. I've never been much of an SRPG fan.

Nope, I still hate every pixel of it :/

Possible Mario Rabbids RPG leak...

Oh God, no, please help us all...

I think it's a bit too soon for another Animal Crossing game. New Leaf just received a pretty hefty update to satisfy players of that for a few more years. Plus with the mobile game coming down the pipes I don't see another Animal Crossing until Holiday 2019 at the earliest.

Really? I'm inclined to believe that we'll see AC on Switch as early as 2018. New Leaf first released in 2012 and the recent update wasn't THAT substantial. Not to mention the HD assets Nintendo has from the Wii-U party game. Given that the mobile/companion game was supposed to be released this spring, I don't see them pushing it back that far.

Agree - I really believe they had a Wii U Animal Crossing game planned that they are now working on further for switch. The AC team hasn't released anything substantial, Isao Moro who directs the series released Happy Home Designer, but we all know it feels like that was a quick in between, probably made around the time they decided to wait it out with AC and begin development with the nx/switch.

I expect it in 2018. It's THE definition of an evergreen title (together with mario kart) - you want your evergreens out as soon as possible so they can keep selling during the duration of the systems lifetime. Especially now when I would expect tons of DLC + integration/crossover with the mobile game.

I definitely agree! I made a slight edit to my original post because I meant to type 2018. Had 2019 on the mind because of the post I was replying to. I'm thinking AC would be a great Spring release on Switch!

AC Switch + Mobile would be an amazing start to the year! Couple that with Pikmin 4 somewhere and I'm already in love with 2018.

Alright so my predictions will be this.

The conference starts out with a trailer for Smash 4 Switch early 2018
After is when Mario O gets its focus for around 10 minutes and November release
First trailer for a new game is Rabbids and Mario after releasing in August or September
Then they will go into Xenoblade 2 for a release month of December
After is a small trailer of Splatoon 2
Then Kirby for Switch(I think it'll be a full on jump to 3D and change the formula like Mario, Pokémon, and Zelda)
After is Skyrim Trailer for August
Other 3rd party ports announced(COD and South Park)
Animal Crossing Switch for Early 2018
3rd party exclusive
Pokémon Stars reveal
End with Retros game.
Sound reasonable?

Oh hell to the yes.

Yeah, I can definitely see AC next Spring. With the mobile game still touted as this fall, they'll want the next mainline game that connects to it soon after that.

Is there a particular reason why people 99 % assume pokemon stars is gonna be a thing? is it only because of the eurogamer leak?

Now the question is, is this announced at Ubisoft's conference or Nintendo's Spotlight? Or both?

I have no clue. Maybe they show it at both.

Do you guys think the "convince gamers/media" in July pretty much confirms a Nintendo Direct of some kind going in depth with this game in July?

I'm not convinced that Nintendo will devote a ton of their own time here. I'm sure it'll get some attention the the E3 spotlight but the materials seem to suggest its Ubisoft's baby.

They might give it the same sort of attention that the Mario&Sonic games got over the years.

Bayonetta 2 got a direct and they didn't develop it at all. Never say never, should be the mantra of this Switch "generation"

True enough, but Nintendo was basically the reason that game exists were they not? This seems like a project that Ubisoft approach Nintendo with. Either way, I could see it being in a Direct but I'm not convinced it would get one focused on just this game.

what are these "things she said before..." ??

There was a list of games she wrote up back in December (or maybe earlier?) that I'm looking for but can't find. Probably the biggest is Beyond Good and Evil 2 being a Switch exclusive or timed exclusive.

Also probably the likeliest due to it being from the same Ubisoft source as this.

This is from Ubisoft which means it's going to be revealed at their conference lol. I always watch their conference every year anyways. It's funny their conference is on Monday and Nintendo is Tuesday. Will Nintendo even mention it in the Spotlight?

Mpl90

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
What were the games she mentioned that didn't show up in January? There was this, BG&E2, what else? EDIT: Ah the Pikmin "reboot"

She never even claimed a Dark Souls port/trilogy was happening, just that From got DS3 running on the Switch and were considering a port.

Here's the list that she shared on Twitter only, not on her website

I respectfully disagree - I don't think this means Ubisoft will reveal it at their conference. It stars Mario, so (IMO) it will be at the Nintendo conference, as all prior Nintendo partnerships like Hyrule Warriors and Skylanders have been revealed at Nintendo Events.

Edit: just saw the additional discussion regarding this on this page. I could be completely wrong in my expectation here. I just figure it will get much more attention at a Nintendo conference than a Ubi one, and I can't recall any time Nintendo allowed another company to announce a new IP including their own IP.

http://letsplayvideogames.com/2017/01/a-deep-dive-on-lpvgs-nintendo-switch-reports-and-info/

These are the LKD rumours that came from Nintendo and/or Ubisoft (the two sources that told her about Mario + Rabbids)
  • Beyond Good and Evil 2
  • Smash amiibos coming in first 6 months
  • Smash Bros 4. port
  • Splatoon bundle near launch, but not day 1 - this actually ended up being true, well after the fact
  • Xenoblade X port
  • Pokemon Stars
  • Pikmin 4
  • Mario Maker

Man, I can't believe we're discussing LKD rumours again after months of people thinking she was discredited. Time is a flat circle.

I'm assuming much like she though Splatoon 2 was a port, she or her sources may have thought Xenoblade 2 was a Xenoblade X port. A lot of the release dates are wrong, but this only leaves Smash Port, Mario Maker Port, Pikmin 4, Pokemon Stars, and Beyond Good and Evil 2 to be confirmed, and three of those have been heavily rumored by other sources, as well.

To be fair, I'm not sure I've seen anyone currently posting in this thread calling for LKD's head. I know that I didn't think ill of her for having incorrect details.

Awesome, thanks guys.

I could see a lot of that making it for release in 2017 too. Probably not BGE2.

But yeah if Nintendo has half of that up their sleeves for this year at E3 it's gonna be a huge launch year.

To be fair, I'm not sure I've seen anyone currently posting in this thread calling for LKD's head. I know that I didn't think ill of her for having incorrect details.

Yeah I actually really liked how she would detail where each bit of info she got came from, which really helped put the leaks and information into perspective. The main problem is too many people took her word as gospel, when it should have always been taken with a grain of salt, like any rumor.

Oh, I know. I think she's been gradually redeemed, just the fallout immediately after the launch event was brutal. My opinion is the same now as it was then - she had valid info and info that was shakier, and just needed to do a better job at scrutinizing the latter rumours and being more transparent, rather than reporting everything with no additional context.

I'm assuming much like she though Splatoon 2 was a port, she or her sources may have thought Xenoblade 2 was a Xenoblade X port. She did clarify that her Nintendo source told her Xenoblade X port was not being done by Monolith, and that they were working on something else, which evidently was Xenoblade 2.

Regarding the release date slipups it also seems like plans just changed. Tons of people reported internal debate within Nintendo regarding whether Zelda or Mario should be at launch, and Koizumi himself even admitted Mario is practically done. Smash Bros. may have been intended for launch (as Serkan Toto said back when it was first reported) but strategically delayed either to give more room for ARMS, or possibly because the scope of the project changed. Considering how cautious Nintendo has been regarding the Switch's games, and Kimishima's note that they wanted to give more time to ensure a strong game lineup, they probably had a lot of internal contingency plans in case something ever went wrong with one of their tentpole releases.

Likewise Splatoon probably could have been an issue of the sequel branding not being decided until much later, since that's something that threw off all of the leakers.

Yeah, you're likely right on that.

I know it would get endless complaints, but I hope she's right about Mario Maker and Xenoblade X. Really sad I missed those.

I choose to believe the list! Just that they may take longer to all come out.

We have some info that indicated BGE2 is credibly in the very, very early goings, right? Does that sound correct? I remember reading that somewhere earlier this year....

Pretty weird that the silver case never happened. Suda keeps talking about it and they even announced its sequel is getting a remake.

It did happen... Just not on Switch. It came to PC last year and PS4 last month. Though I wonder if maybe the PS4 version is a timed console exclusive, since they made a point of toting its exclusive content.

Then again Guardians of the Galaxy never happened on Switch so eh.

Since a lesser port (that added some incredible content, but took away some significant game sharing content) sold amazingly well on 3DS, there is no doubt in my mind Mario Maker is coming to Switch by the end of next year.

First time I read about Pikmin 4 being a reboot. Well it seems she clarified it is rather that, internally, the devs want to be clear about the game not being a sequel. It makes me really curious about this game...I could see the pikmin being actually playable. Also did Animal Crossing Switch ever had some sort of leaked infos ?

I think it was obvious from the moment some of LKD's rumors became true that she has some credibility. However, not everything she has been spreading will be shown this E3 as far as I'm aware.

Most likely they will devote at least a small bit of time to it.

Yeah, I have a feeling Mario Maker will be a game for next year, and Pikmin 4 might be too. Putting it in the middle of this year just seems like it'd be eating Hey Pikmin's lunch.

SSB4 and Pokemon Stars, I think we can safely bank on those being at E3.

Also I do have to say, I'd be surprised if Xenoblade X got released by itself. A Xenoblade 1 remaster seems like a logical thing to do. But it'd be holyshit if they pulled a Bayonetta and bundled that with Xenoblade 2.

More than likely it's some of the things she reported on that had information from Nintendo and had muitple xonfirmations on the manner. Stuff like the Dark Souls rumor where she only had one source for that seem very unlikely.

Interesting, thanks for the info! I wonder what that all means. Do you have a link to this clarification perchance?

(I didn't see any leaked AC info as of yet.)

Hot diggity! I wonder if it would be a port or a straight up sequel with LittleBigPlanet backwards compatible type stuff (levels from the original, online creations carrying over, etc.). Wasn't the initial rumor is that they want to do all of that but are trying to figure out how?

I was going to finally play Xenoblade in a week or two. I might hold off till after E3 and see if they maybe do something like that.
