Man I hope there aren't many leaks. I'm attending the briefing for the first time and I know I wouldn't be able to stop myself from spoiling it :p

It's probably wise to start staying away from this thread. Or actually Neogaf completely until after their show has happened. I doubt if there's a big leak it will only be posted here. There will undoubtedly be a thread dedicated to it.

Or MS has shit on lock down.

Well Phil did say he wanted both MP and SP games to succeed on their system. That SP was crucial or critical but yeah, so far most of their games have been GaaS with exceptions like QB and Recore. It's probably the end of SP only games.

I guess if they really wanted they could make a SP focused Fable with a MP mode in it with all the typical GaaS stuff in it. Question is will people really bother with that MP?

But it's undoubtedly wise to expect this and not have crazy hopes for huge announcements. I really think they want to let Crackdown, SoT, SoD to shine and that's understandable too. Wouldn't surprise me if this E3 for MS is small on the surprises. If what Phil said is true, same kind of dedication as how they improved Xbox will be for first party, that sounds like not much has been established yet and is probably something for next year.

But I already know plenty of people will be disappointed because they hope for things that sadly seem unrealistic to me, to expect them that is. I do think we would have had some leaks by now too. Keeping your expectations in check is best to do, even if it sucks because with a new system and all the excitement it brings you want awesome new game announcements too.

I'm sure people will be negative as fuck over the lack of surprises but to be honest, while the titles won't be new we're going to be learning plenty of new info. We have a good idea of Sea of Thieves because of the closed Alpha and a whole bunch of dev videos but we have only seen some old tech demos for Crackdown destruction and we don't really know anything about State of Decay.

I've said it a million times, but I'll keep saying it. OG Xbox Backwards Compatibility is all I need to see for this to be the best E3 for this gen. Crackdown 3, State of Decay, and Sea of Thieves are just icing on the cake. I'm not sure how I feel about if I want leaks or not... Last year they kinda ruined Dead Rising 4, which could've been cool.

I am actually surprised that the look of the system has not been leaked yet. Being that they are already in manufacturing and Phil's comments of being ahead of schedule, I am pretty shocked that we don't have a leak on just the look of the system. I am hoping that things stay quiet and no leaks prior to the conference. Last year was pretty good with minimal amount of leaks, so hoping for the same and better.

Just watched the 17 minute tech demo of Crackdown 3 and now I can officially say that I'm hyped for Microsoft's conference. I can't wait to see what that game can do with the advancements of the Scorpio.

Haha. I'm watching that now actually. Trying to find trailers or anything that mentions the game being Play Anywhere. If you missed it, they just confirmed it to be an XPA title. :D

Edit: Apparently it's been confirmed XPA since June last year. lol

Leaks usually start when they start doing stage show runthroughs so a week before E3 would be wise to bail out of gaf.

Although I do hope MS if they do have any truly big surprises will not rehearse those parts.
I want a genuine surprise at each of these shows.

In case people can't see the tweet:
I'm very confident, from what we are seeing and hearing, Scorpio will be the very best console version of games this year..

Phil is definitely not one to boast, so he must be pretty confident in this regard (I mean he says he is in the tweet). I'm really excited to see what games look like on Scorpio.

I think they need to open with Scorpio, and set the tone for the rest of the show. I hope they've got some outstanding games lined up to follow.

Damnit I love having a reason to take Monday off so I can watch the conferences.

You do know the Xbox conference is on Sunday now, right? :p

Edit: Nvm, I think I read it wrong initially lol. You're wishing it was on Monday so you had an excuse to take off work? Just take it off anyways to absorb all the info from Sunday. ;)

I'm confused. Isn't it obvious that games will look/perform best on Scorpio since it's the most powerful console? How is that a surprise?

Many expect multiplats to just be the same across PS4 Pro and Scorpio. For example, if Destiny 2 was somehow 60 FPS on Scorpio, it would be a huge thing and probably swing some people over to playing on that system.

It won't happen because Sony has the marketing deal, but it's just an example.

I think marketing deals wont affect performance on rival consoles. but as others have said, i better prepare to eat CROW

I think for many games that might be true, especially if Play Anywhere lets developers scale up performance easier than PS4 Pro enhancements.

Destiny 2 60 FPS is the biggest possible mic drop moment they could have with regards to multiplats this year. Would love to be wrong about it not happening.

Sony has a marketing deal that allows them first release DLC and other cosmetic type items but could they force parity through that?

They are paying for exclusive guns/armors/etc but can they also technically PAY to have the developer make shittier versions of the game on competing consoles?

No. There's no buying parity. There were plenty of early xbox marketed games that looked better on the standard PS4 etc.

No but i think its somewhat implied. I just dont see the scorpio version of D2 having anything mind-blowing compared to ps4 pro. I think Bungie will absolutely have parity for it. Even if Scorpio could do it, they wont because it implies an 'advantage' and sony definitely wont be happy about it.

When you have a marketing deal with a company, youre not going to out an extra effort on the other console. I dont see any advantage coming to scorpio other than the one that comes out of the box and Scorpio handles itself.

There's also the matter of giving Scorpio owners a 30 FPS advantage in PvP that I don't think would go over too well.

They stated the only reason they didn't do it on the PS4 Pro is because the system couldn't handle it.

If the Scorpio CAN handle it, and it helps give them a more positive spin on their game vs all the other shooters out at the same time... you think they'll avoid making Sony upset vs flexing their full technical muscle against all the other shooters they're trying to win our hard earned dollars for?

I dunno... I sorta feel like if they can they will and maybe even offer a "we will of course be working diligently on patching in 60fps on the PS4 Pro once we figure out how to make it work" haha

Welp this is his name and identity on the line here. This is really all his doing at this point in time in turn the ship around and then starting anew with the scorpio.

I have faith in him and I hope it's all we wanted and then some.

I don't think MS cares that much about upsetting Sony by showing off their hardware. If Sony throw their marketing dollars at those big games, I am unsure if that basically means that MS could get a better version or if parity plays a part.

I would love to see something like D2 appear at 60fps but, unless some crazy stuff happens with the modification to the Jag CPU and the rest of the system, I think it will be held back.

It will be the best 3rd party system but MS need to get those 1st party titles rolling to really show of the system.

Not long now!

It pains me to this day Fable Legends was cancelled and we're likely to never get a Fable game again.

I was pretty surprised myself, but at the same time I understood why they did. I'm not sure if you played the Beta, but they had a decent amount of content in it. A good amount of characters, and about 10 or so quests. I wanna believe they saved those assets, because they had some really cool characters and some fun/funny quests in it. The game was actually fun to play, but it did get slightly repetitive because there wasn't much to do but the same 10 or so quests (this was towards the end of the beta they finally had more than a couple quests to do) over and over and a half-baked fishing game, lol. This is why I kinda understand why they canceled it. As fun as it was, they seemed to not be getting very far with the game. It had the characters, and the quests, but weapons and armors and accessories were very slowly implemented. After years of work, they pretty much just had gameplay, some characters, and a few quests. They still needed to flesh out the town/hub area, add mini games, add weapons and armor etc, add more quests and maybe some different gameplay types. As it was, I'm not sure if it would've held up very long if all you did was the same quests over and over to grind for gear. But you look at MMOs and games like Destiny, and it seems to work for them so who knows. lol

Yeah the latter. I'll probably take Monday off anyway like you said, but it was fun to have your day kind of planned out by the conferences. Now it's just....Ubi and Sony?
