E3 should open with some new game announce to put everyone in a good mood, and then Phil should say 'yeah ReCore was aces, fuck you haters, but yeah, it could have been better, so here's the Definitive Edition, free for all ReCore owners' and then Recore Def Ed is actually pretty mcuh ReCore 2, and I swoon and then I actually go and do something productive with my life.

I would almost guarantee that it'll be free for Recore owners. It'd be an extremely huge slap in the face if they don't do that. Unless, like you said, they're adding more than just the tank and some graphical touch-ups. Even then, I think it would just be a small upgrade fee.

I actually don't want bonnie or rod on stage or the guys from froza. I just want wall to wall information and games, we dont need a 3 minute speech lead in talking about dev process

I'm curious to see what they could improve/fix with the Definitive edition of Recore. I played the game all the way up until the last area/boss and gave up. Apparently I wasn't a high enough level to avoid being one-shotted and looking up strategies revealed that I'd need to go farm more spheres after the fight anyway. I'd definitely be willing to give it another shot if they fixed some of that stuff.

In theory Recore definitive edition should be more like ;
-Add the new tank bot
- whole new area.
-Tweak existing dungeons a little bit.
-Graphical and technical updates.
-Add new armors for the existing bots.
-More enemy variety in different areas+ more mobs/random encounters
- rework the end game.
- Then add some kind of score attack mode for online

Recore is a solid game with good mechanics but sloppy pacing and presentation that prevent it from reaching the AAA tier. I had a lot of fun with it, but that's because I like dungeon platformers and it has that in spades.

The combat can get tedious later on, and some of the design decisions are a little confusing (only having two bots at a time can halt your exploration/progression, the whole bot upgrade system can be difficult to understand).

You know, thinking on it now, maybe the reason the definitive edition is taking so long is cuz they're actually changing gameplay. I agree only having 2 bots with you was highly annoying. Trecking back and forth to places because you brought the wrong bots with you was just tedious. I'm not sure how they could fix it tho cuz just having all bots with you to summon would break the combat if you can just constantly switch your bots. Maybe let you switch bots any time as long as you're outside of combat? Don't think that would break anything, but I haven't played the game since close to launch.

I agree with all of this, the core gameplay is actually really good but there's just too many small niggles that add up to counter balance it. I gave up once I got to the end but couldn't face the final boss cause I wasn't at a high enough level and then the DE rumours started. That was bloody months ago though and I still really want to finish it!

Recore was so close to being a real contender it would be a real shame if the IP died

It's one of the things that MS repeatedly does that pisses me off. You have an IP, it does OK they don't do anything more with it.

Imagine if Sony didn't let ND do a sequel to Uncharted, which like ReCore had some very good ideas wrapped in a sometime frustrating shell for some of it's elements. They released a sequel and knocked it out the park.

Another one that will always make me sad is MS not moving fast enough to secure a Sunset Overdrive sequel. A game that was reviewed extremely well, but released at the wrong time of the year. A sequel could have expanded on the raft of great ideas in that game alas we may never see it. :(

Uncharted also most likely sold 10x what Recore did. Just a guess but Recore didn't do good at all, something like 5-6k in its first week in the UK, not sure about US

I think they should do a sequel to Recore and flesh it out but you're comparing apples to oranges here

I wanna say it did sub 50k in its opening npd month. I think that number was in the thread

Most thing i look forward to is. Phil on the couch at Giantbomb. Every year great stuff.
I feel like Jeff knows how to get down to the nitty gritty and not softball questions and Phil talks fairly honestly, as much as one can to him.

We don't need brad nodding in agreement tho

One of the things I want the most out of this E3 is a complete revamp of Windows store.

I can't believe it's been allowed to remain the mess that it presently is.

I still can't believe the shit they pulled with ReCore last year, using some random song to go along the trailer. Folks, this game's OST is crazy good, seriously.

HDR, 4K textures and other tweaks are necessary for Scorpio, but PLEASE make a decent trailer. Too many mistakes with this game already, starting by letting people overlook the platforming and the fast paced shooting, and specially the music.

I don't even know if it would get stage time unless there's a drastic amount of new content. Right now, it strikes. S s a perfect game for the daily shows

It's only going to be super sampling with compatible games remember.

But any game will have some kind of improvement when running on Scorpio though, right? I think it was the DF articles that said games will automatically run at their max resolution, better loading times etc. But to make the game 4K dev input is required.

But that goes only for already released games. Upcoming ones will all have supersampling hopefully, but that is on devs right?

There's a really big chance I'll have a 4K TV aroubd that time though so for me it probably doesn't matter too much.

Yeah, even BC games. Much like now with the Xbox one.

Yeah, even BC games.

Ah yes, awesome stuff really.

But as cool as it is that MS is really going for 4K, i still hope they will provide options to have much better graphical fidelity at 1080p and maybe even 60fps as well. Remains to be seen and is all up to devs.

Maybe they just choose one thing and be done with it or they give the consumer multiple options.

If ReCore def is free for the OG owners I'll definitely reinvest my time into the game.

I would think that will be their intentions. Maybe might announce a sequel too!

One of the things I want the most out of this E3 is a complete revamp of Windows store.

Windows Store revamp is coming with the Windows Fluent Design System. Apparently one of the insider builds has one part of the new design language implemented into the windows store. So, it's only a matter of time. Come to think of it, the Groove app got an injection of WFDS recently...not sure if its an insider thing or what.

They've been updating the fuck out of the store and apps. The store's front page has a parallax view and fluent design now. It's coming along.

Most their apps have fluent design. Mail, groove, people (which is pretty cool), even Hulu.

I'm just not feeling any hype towards this conference.

Ditto.I am excited to see new hardware simply cause I love gaming and any sort of progress regardless of company. I just dont have a lot of interest in Xbox's gaming portfolio currently. I love Gears and Forza and own both latest versions but even then it doesnt hold my interest. The only game im genuinely excited about is state of decay 2 for the coop fun but that doesnt require a super powerful console. The fact that crackdown is meant to be the suggested tip of the spear for new hardware speaks volumes about how little microsoft has done to build up their franchises.

Since we're less than 20 days out and theres been no leaks, we should post some predictions. The last thread was all the way back in January so things have changed a bit since then. I think it'd be interesting to see how close people can get

I'm not feeling a ton of hype for E3 at all. I don't really care for Battlefront, asscreed or Destiny. Wasn't a fan of the move back to WW2 for COD. Not a huge zombie guy so SoD isn't for me. Neither is SoT. Basically I'm just looking forward to Crackdown 3, scorpio and Pokémon/smash for the switch. I'll buy Horizon 3 on sale of Scorpio has a 60fps mode for the game

Scorpio reveal is gonna be hype af. I'm excited to see what Crackdown actually is. I'm excited to see what Rare has been up to with Sea of Thieves. I'm really intrigued by State of Decay 2 and I'm eager to see some gameplay.

There is plenty to be hype about, so lets be hype!

Well if its prediction time, I pretty much agree with all of:

With some additions/extra details.

1. I think a game by Yukio Futatsugi could show up, maybe another Crimson Dragon, maybe a collaboration with SEGA for a Panzer Dragoon Orta follow up, maybe even another Phantom Dust. Any would be nice.

2. I think there's a good chance of an announcement of additional OG Xbox titles they are porting like they did with Phantom Dust, mainly with new Xbox Live and HD support. Id like to think they put the talent over at Code Mystics on a few more projects. *ahem* Crimson Skies *ahem*

3. I think the unannounced third party AAA project is whatever Capcom Vancouver is cooking up after DR4.

4. Scorpio will launch earlier than expected, possibly August to go with Shadow of Mordor and get in before the holiday heavy hitters season starts. Don't know what the price could be, but ill hope $399.

5. Crackdown 3 is gonna be the showstopper, State of the Decay 2 is gonna be the sleeper, Cuphead is gonna drop right after the conference, and Ashen is gonna surprise as well.

6. And this is more of a hope than a guess, but I really hope that MS Global Publishing being made front and center is more than a gesture and they actually start publishing games that aren't releasing on their platform on a larger scale.

Below will be available on June 11th.

Maybe even cuphead to have that "available now" factor in it!

I think we may hear "Available Today/now!" Alot. ;)
