TEKKEN 7 releases June 2nd (PC/XB1/PS4, Season Pass, Eliza, more details)

Idk about biggest but I'm definitely seeing more casuals and non-Tekken fans hyped about this game which I haven't seen since probably T5.

T4 was shat on when it was released. A lot of backlash.
T5 was great for console owners but there was some controversy surrounding how quick it was released and balancing. Mostly controversy with arcade owners. It had a great release though.
T6 was a weird release. They hyped it up but something about it was "off" and not many non-Tekken fans jumped on board with it. Mind you it released during SFIV's prime. I remember seeing it promoted on like WWE but then none of my friends had the game.
TTT2 didn't have much promotion at all and it dropped during a weird period. It was a fun game but it's release just sort of happened.

T7 is coming out during a period where a fighter like this is wanted, with Akuma as well and also they've done pretty well promotion-wise for the past few months. People are digging what they're seeing and honestly given the competition, the chance for a Tekken to shine is pretty high compared to before.

Don't forget the time it took to get to consoles. The price on the game too dropped pretty quickly.

It still has me worried for how long T7 has been out in arcades and people may be burnt on waiting. I guess we'll see how it stacks up. The timing though with Injustice 2 doesn't help either.

Are you saying Snoop Dogg wassn't the only promotion Tag 2 needed?
That's all the promo anything needs

injustice 2 is insanely popular right now. Hoping Tekken 7 can best it.

Been #1 for a few days now. From what little I've heard about T7's preorders from random Harada/Murray tweets everything is going well. So far it looks to be a better release than T6 but like I said we'll see.

I don't think it'll top Injustice since that's an NRS game. However I'm definitely sure Bamco will make their sales for T7 given how the game's developed. Thankfully Tekken funds itself.

Who are we all looking forward to trying out Friday? This will be my first time [playing T7] and with this I wanna try characters i usually never touch;

Nina
Lili
Master Raven

And definitely a few more but they are at the top. No interest in Akuma. I am so tired of Akuma.

All the new folks
Even the reskins

So has anyone data mined the disc yet for any traces of the future dlc characters?

Usually you hear something about that by now unless they were really good about leaving any traces for people to find :P

Arby's social media is so good. Their food, not so much

Those fries though! And that sauce. I need to find out how to make them myself.

How many playlists can we make in jukebox? I'd like to make one for each Tekken. Match up the stages to the most similar from that game and use its music.

They didn't really say on the Tekken Talk but I saw 3 slots so probably 3. Tbh I thought it would just be 1 so that's great for me. I'm already making my playlist now.

Here's going to be my first playlist for Jukebox. Still making the other 2.

It might be an OCD thing that makes me not really like replacing the music...

I immediately kept setting TT2 back to default lol.

It's also why I'm so bothered by customizations, I imagine. I just want uniformity.

Edit: it's also why I can't use anything but the default outfits/colors in the assassin's creed games... I might have a problem. I get a genuine feeling of anxiety and everything feels wrong so I rush back and put on defaults.

Same with Tekken 6 where I tried making Yoshi a little cooler and the next time I played I had to immediately set it back.

I'll stay with default music for a while. Then maybe switch. Customs I usually like to keep simple or just stay a default costumes.

Josie. Something about her fighting style just makes her look like so much fun. Last time I played T7 I only used people I already knew how to play with. This time she's first in line.

That actually makes sense considering that customization talk the other day. That's easily understandable.

I'm legit discovering something about myself here that I really should get diagnosed. Wouldn't want to keep raising my blood pressure whining about customisations anymore haha.

Exactly. I've made those same posts for years, tho. Odd I never factored in the anxiety I felt with other games even.

I pretty much haven't played Tekken since '97 so I'm going to be deep in the roster vortex for a while. There's probably 10 characters I have an interest in trying out.

Feng is probably the one that looks the coolest at first glance. He reminds me of a buff as fuck Lan Di with a badass outfit.

Dragunov and Bryan for me. I usually main them if they are available.

I am sure I will try out the Mishimas as well.

You guys better help me make Josie popular enough to become a stable of the cast. If she doesn't make it for future installments then so be it, Tekken got one of the greatest cast of characters. And for now, I'll invest everything in her.

I'm sure I read that the expanding-chest thing didn't carry over to the new game. Certainly hope so, it's a bit of an embarrassment in 2017.

wow holy shit so the xbone and PC versions are not even in the top 100?

i wonder how much of that has to do with Ps4 leading this gen and how much it is just Tekken's identity with playstation

I'm pretty sure most PC buyers are either getting it directly from steam (where it's selling nicely) or one of the key resellers (humble, gmg, gamersgate, etc.). I can see the pc version doing better than the xb1 version, but not ps4.

Yeah I'm assuming most PC users are getting it on Steam. As for the X1, I mean it'll be bought there but it's identified as a main PS franchise so I'm not surprised.

PC version is only available on Steam but you can't really tell how many copies are sold because there are many key stores and boxed copies.
Most copies will not be sold on Steam (much lower prices at keystores) and those redeemed keys are not included on Steams sale charts.

But a few weeks after the launch we can get reliable data with steam spy.
The website can track how many copies are activated and it is fairly accurate.

You reminded me that I need to do the same. I'll simply copy 'n paste right now and then update it for myself over the coming week so I can just plug and play when the game releases.

What was wrong with T4? I remember the backlash but I was not tuned into the fighting game circuit enough to know why (Other than the last boss was Heihachi in a diaper)

oh yeah i forgot about how steam works as its own thing. also you think PC version will sell better? i thought the fgc in general is more of a console thing but i wouldn't be all that surprised if PC does better

The ps4 (probably pro) will likely be the big tourney setting. I'm pretty sure it has been aside from the arcade version. I do think the pc version will sell better than the xb1 mostly because of the price. Casuals will jump on the commonly sub $40 price for the basic pc version. That same version barring sales will be $60 on xb1/ps4.

At launch sure but of course price drops eventually, it should do pretty well on XB1 in the long run
