If the baseline is Switch, yeah. If the baseline is PS4, I could see it skipping Switch and Switch settling with the port for now while something else built exclusively for it is in the works.

They can't go back to the old way now but I wonder if they will figure a way to make 2017 its own thing and not literally like 2016 (orchestra -> Shawn talk ->, etc...)

I don't wanna live in a world where it's exclusive to PS4 we won't be able to have a single nice thread about the game from that moment forward

I'd be sooo entertained if it skips the Switch (i'd grab the biggest bag of popcorn) and i ain't even that interested in the game honestly. Why you ask?

Because the Nintendo die hard fans have driven me bonkers post Switch launch here on GAF, to me they've become unbearable honestly... what with their constant port-begging and deluded expectations and wanting to shove down the Switch down everyones throat.

I'm mildly surprised that Sony hasn't released a first party online shooter to drive those ps plus subscription numbers up.

Guess getting exclusive marketing deals with third party publishers is cheaper and less risky.

The Monster Hunter rumor? I find that hard to believe on multiple fronts. For starters, Sony is funding it but doesn't have an issue with it appearing on Xbox? And they paid for it because they're desperate for Japan, but the game itself is going to be westernized, effectively changing a critical aspect that makes it appealing to Japan in the first place.

Yep I think you answered your own question there. So many successful online shooters nowadays so it might be risky to go all in on that route. Maybe a campaign first and MP secondary approach like UC series will continue to come up.

Negative. If you own a PS4 game digitally, you will already own for The PlayStation. No native PSOne/2/3 support. PS Now is possible but that will be rebranded or quietly put to bed. No Pro-level features. It's a portable Slim.

It's internal name is Walkman.

I think that rumor is reality mixed with pure, unadulterated nonsense and hyperbole. Sony isn't desperate for Japan, this game will be multiplatform and it won't be westernised at all. I hate that term and it holds no merit considering how much people seem to want to throw it out. Capcom are likely going to modernise the systems in the game, considering how dated some of them are.

I also don't expect it to come to Switch, but I know that's an unpopular opinion.

It's literally impossible. The chip itself isn't really meant to be used as a portable. It runs too hot and draws too much power for such a thing to work.

Also, I believe that a portable PS4 compatible with the entire PS4 library is the only way Sony can make a Vita successor

I can see a portable PS4 by next year (half the power of a PS4, 720p screen) or a hybrid PS4 at the end of the life-cycle.

If it doesn't plays cartidges or mini BD it's dead in the water. Also The Playstation? This thing is destined to die sooner than PSP Go.
 
I feel that guy was making up an obviously dumb rumor to point out how taking the MH5 rumor seriously is dumb, but he got a few serious responses so he just decided to roll with it.
