TEKKEN 7 releases June 2nd (PC/XB1/PS4, Season Pass, Eliza, more details)

Also Tekken as a huge amount of track, even if you love them or not.

People saying : They remove characters : Let's take a look at SFV? Or GG Xrd. It's kinda normal.

Staple characters should never be removed unless they are replaced by a character with a similar fighting style. Lei, Changs, both have had their fighting styles completely removed. Both very integral parts to the fighting game community. (Well not Lei's but Chang's were known as one of the best pressure/counter characters in the game and were used often in tournaments) Lei Wulong though was a very iconic tekken character. Along with Law. for similar reasons

That "remove characters" comment makes it look as though some don't know how games are developed. There's a reason why SF, MK, INJ and Tekken, hell almost all fighters don't have the same characters in each version with just more added to it. Actually, Harada himself commented on the "removing characters" thing on that one IGN article from earlier.

There was no precedent after Tekken 5 for them to remove fighters that have been in the game since the PS1 days.

I mean each character had their own route with multiple endings tons of dialogue, full arcade mode playthroughs

Then there's time attack, abyss mode, the unlimited mode challenge fights, mission modes a tutorial survival mode multiplayer...like, what?

Dude that story mode is a joke. Are you seriously going to even try to make that comparison?

Why aren't Sagat and Sakura in SFV?
Why didn't Kabal return in MKX?

There's a reason they do this in each fighting game franchise. We could go down the list of each of them and make the case for numerous characters. Just because you like them and they've been in a lot of games even from the beginning doesn't mean they deserve to come back.

Everybody deserves a chance over Lucky Chloe.

Hell i would have taken even that big bald muscle guy Harada was joking about.

I've played Tekken since the first in the series, street fighter has made it clear they abandon characters often. Tekken replaces characters with the same fighting styles, baek for hwo, michelle chang for julia, jun for asuka. This is abnormal and is why many fans are upset. It's why I love tekken. Because they don't leave fighting styles or players who have mained certain characters hanging.

It sucks, but they chose to dedicate time and resources on the selected fighters(and new blood) leaving some hard cuts. It's not abnormal, just disappointing for certain longtime fans. Most fighting franchises do this though.

I get what you are saying about grafting movesets onto new bodies though, and its possible DLC freebies will do just that in time.

Harada has been so tight lipped on whether they are returning or not, what the DLC is going to be, when, who the guest characters are. I'm hoping they return, but they probably won't.

TT2 was promised long term support, that didn't happen.

It's fine to say you dont like the content they provide, but to say that it doesnt have more content is factually untrue.

Just ignore him. At least until he comes up with a more cogent argument than calling it a "joke". It's absurd and he has to be trolling.

Although I don't think I'll play her I do think they did a great job by having her in the game. Out of all the new characters, she's the most talked about one. Hell, even her profile talks about Westerners hating her as a joke towards it.

Man, they've been doing this since T3 and it doesn't change. The only post-3 Tekkens where they didn't do this have been 5 and 6 but all the others it happens. It happened with 3, 4 and now 7.

it didn't happen with 7 because the whole roster wasn't shaken up like T3 or T4. They just didn't have them for some reason.

The juggles are there, the movesets, its been beefed up, that's it. this isn't the change that happened with 2 to 3, or 3 to 4.

Yes. you can have up to 6 player lobbies.

Dunno where that misinformation spread from

Thanks, I've been excited about tekken coming to pc mostly so I can get an endless lobby going with my friends. Gonna wait about a day or so to hear how reliable they are but I'm more or less in for launch.

Damn, has it really been that long?

Feels like just yesterday I was listening to Kazumi and Kazuya's shitty English dub that only ever happened in the debut trailer for some reason.

That did sound like they just took whatever English speaking staff they had at the Japan offices lmao. Not sure why they made an English trailer either.

So what's your argument? Constantly reused non-animated character art with all english voice over in a static background takes more time & effort than fully animated 3D mocapped characters that exist in real 3D space & high quality CG FMVs with voice over in each characters' native language?

As someone who has mentioned it before already

Guilty Gear / Blazblue series
NRS games
Nearly every other Tekken release...

All have a abundance of content. Are in tournaments. This feels lackluster.

Guilty Gear stopped catering to the casual audience when they didn't do dubbed voices for Revelator.

Waited 3 years for this? Awful.

That's the stinger. You'd expect Namco would have invested a lot more into the home release given the exceptional delay for tuning and balancing. Seems Harada was possibly strapped by funding allocation and potentially the story mode/customization gear stole away the resources, but the significant amount of time this took to arrive begs many questions.

The gameplay changes from 2-3 and 3-4 isn't why the roster changed the way it did. The roster naturally changed because it was time.

In this game's case, we're getting 30 returning characters from Tekken's history. You can be upset about no Lei, Michelle and Anna but that isn't enough to completely hurt this game's roster compared to the 30 returning characters. It's not really comparable. That's just a few long time fan characters missing and regardless how much they're loved that's not enough to put a major dent on the roster. You're just attached to these classics, which isn't bad, but still you can't really say this is abnormal when they've done far worse with previous games in the series. T3 and T4 stick out way worse than this title especially T3.

They kept it wayy too long in the Arcades in my opinion which built huge expectations for fans.

Finally got the digital pre-order in. NBA Finals & Tekken 7, gonna be glorious. Wait, the game unlocks at midnight ET, right?
Heh, I'm in the same boat with the NBA Finals that night and the 9PM Tekken unlock (PST). My wife also has me on standby each evening to help her study for a promotion test she has on Saturday, and I should at least wave hello to my kids on Thursday. Priorities, priorities. =-P

Found a store that might sell it early, but they're hesitant. Might have to do sexual favors to push them over. This sucks.

My problem is the reasoning behind it. Lei was apparently dismissed because of his usage rate. But that doesn't explain why the bears are still in, or Bob who was overly used in Tekken 6 because he was S tier now dropped completely by players.. I'm just confused by Harada's reasoning and he hasn't been transparent this whole time. Also our last big content reveal with Tekken 7 was Eddy Gordo as a character. What the hell. Why does panda and kuma hold two character slots...

You talk to a lot of people about Tekken and the first character that comes to mind isn't Kazuya or Heihachi, but "that breakdancing motherfucker" as my friend eloquently put it. I think it's a pretty solid choice.

I get Jackie Chan sometimes or Bruce Lee. Eddy actually is very button mashing friendly, hated online, but loved at parties. And almost never used in tournament play. okay addition.

There was no delay for tuning. They wanted to milk arcades and look at console as just stream of extra cash.

Do it.

You need to watch the reveal of Kuma/Panda and hear people cheer. They weren't used much but people like them. I saw a GameSpot video the other day and this girl was like "I'm playing Panda" and Panda wasn't even available for their demo version, they're just fun joke characters that people don't take seriously. It doesn't make sense for them to hold 2 slots though, not at all.

Bob is heavily popular or at least was back then. I think that's why he's showing up also his fighting style is fun.

Overall, I think Harada, Murray and Tekken Team in general just can't reveal what they really need to reveal not because they don't want to but because of some Bamco stuff. Like I said before, in the press run for this game they said numerous times that it would "come with everything you'd expect out of a Tekken console title" when they talked about modes. Afterwards, the game got delayed so they could put more content in the game and we get this. It really looks as though it's a time issue and/or Bamco not giving them the funds they need to put the content in the game during the time allocated to them.

But they had the intention of adding all the modes. Something weird happened during the development related to time and/or funds. Who knows what it was.
