Man, they've been doing this since T3 and it doesn't change. The only post-3 Tekkens where they didn't do this have been 5 and 6 but all the others it happens. It happened with 3, 4 and now 7.

While I understand what you're saying, with T3 we only completely lost Jun's Kazama style and Bruce's muay thai style. The others had direct or indirect style replacements, or were joke characters like Roger. T3 also had some amazing new characters like Ling and Bryan that softened the blow. With respect to Jun and Bruce -- and I say this as someone who mained Jun in T2 -- the loss of Lei's animal/drunken style and the Chang style are much greater, especially since they've been foundations of the series for 20 years now.

As for T4, well that game was a mistake from start to finish, so...

I hope you're right and Harada gives T7 robust, longterm support. But if the free DLC is part of the $60 value I'm paying, I'd at least like to know what I'm getting down the road. But you're probably right and this is some Bamco thing.

As someone who's not a pro and picked up Street Fighter V at launch, I already feel like I'm going to be getting my money's worth with the base release of Tekken 7. There's maybe one or two disappointments for some people, but it's in no way comparable.

Who the hell are the guest characters? What's happening with Classic characters? What is the new mode? Why are character episodes so short? is it being expanded? Was Roger JR really excluded because of PETA? Was lei wulong excluded because of his usage rate? It most likely has to to due with the Publisher making him tight lipped, but THERE are a lot of questions and Harada has not been transparent and answers questions so vaguely that you can literally make it appear as a yes or a no.

Do you just look for all the negatives rather than any of the positives? That's a bad quality IMO.

Don't like what the game has to offer? Then its pretty simple... dont buy it.

Murray's made a few comments about this in the past. They'll probably tell us what's in the DLC Friday and then tell us what the free updates Harada was mentioning hopefully then too if not sooner. Either way, Bamco's just on some shit.

T7 has 35+ characters, 20 stages, Arcade Mode, Story Mode, every previous Tekken opening/ending and customizations in it on day 1. You can also color your characters to your liking without having to unlock different colors.

I can totally see where people are coming from with the lack of content. I think there are different bases of the fanbase, when grewing up, some people would get tons of enjoyment out of Team Battle picking their teams playing against their brothers, or some would get the most enjoyment out of unlocking ending cutscenes and characters because that was the soul of Tekken to them, while other people mainly played it to learn the mechanics and systems of the game not really paying much attention to all these small little extra modes and content. I see where they are coming from.

Personally, I feel like I am lucky, since with Tekken 7 I've decided that this is the one where I really get into the meat of it, and so content won't play too much of a factor to me, other than the debt of the core gameplay, getting to learn the ins and outs of frame datas, movements, backdash cancelling, throwbreaking, okizeme and so on, so I'll mostly be spending my time in Practice, and in lobbies and ranked battles.

To me, I already feel like the game has a lot of characters to explore (we actually got seven new characters this time around which is a record), there's a bunch of stages, we even get the Jukebox again, and damn much customization not only in costumes but in HUD items and such. I'm still indifferent to the Story mode and side chapters, as I have to play those for myself before I judge.

But I totally see where those who are complaining about lack of content they used to enjoy are coming from. Mind you, the game still has a lot to offer, and introduces some great new gameplay mechanics like Rage Drives, Rage Arts, Power Crushes and tailspins but maybe what is more important to some factors of the community is modes, classic characters, and lots of story and cutscenes.

I still laugh at their "The Best Fights are Personal" tagline while having some of the most random pairings as a result of in-canon tournament bracketing (and running out of decent pairings, I'm sure) being the character's story arc.

If you're disappointed, tweet at Harada, Murray and the Tekken twitter accounts. They actually respond and they're constantly looking for feedback. That helps with future content towards the game. They all have responded to me plenty of times. See what they say to you. Maybe we can get some responses to talk about in this thread.

As a near series long fanatic whose interest has waned as of late (with the exception of getting hyped for the FR additions and the release date announcement), I think I'm finally in the cancel pre-order and buy used camp. I've thrown money their way in support for many years and the product isn't there for me. So really, I don't see a need to continue supporting something that isn't being kept kempt.
