To be honest Ms going on record to say the games are canceled hurts them more than actually canceling them.

That's one thing they need to learn from Sony as well, they just stop pretending it ever existed and never talk about it anymore, and this even gives then the ability to resurrect dead projects like TLG and create hype.
Haha that's brilliant. I never thought about it from Sony's perspective. They do just go silent when something isn't going to release. MS needs to take notes.

I just want games like BB and Nioh on Xbox. Soulsborne type games have become my main priority lately.
Yeah, for some reason this genre in particular is underserved on Xbox One. Apart from those bigger versions, many of the indie takes that have come to console have also stuck to PS4: Salt and Sanctuary, Titan Souls, Blade and Bones. This may just be an artifact of there being many more games on PS4 period, though.

You know what genere is underserved everywhere these days? Car combat. I'm waiting for someone to bring it back in a big way. Twisted Metal is obviously the go-to but it could be anyone.

??? Sony spoke out multiple times to reassure people The Last Guardian wasn't dead

Xbox fans gotta demand more from Microsoft. These type of threads always turn borderline sycophantic because fans want to give passes for terrible output and initiatives. That's hypocritical coming from me, cause I used to be that guy, but y'all need to look at the other side. PlayStation fans are demanding games and getting them. There's a clear pattern of response to consumer demand by Sony that Microsoft simply aren't bothering to do, and I don't know why. With all the resources behind Xbox, even without an unlimited war chest, they should still be able to do better.

Working with external studios just isn't going to cut it in the long run. Fans want assurances that the platform they buy into will be adequately serviced in terms of games, they want exclusives to validate their purchases, and the hardcore, that as we have seen at the start of the generation, that influences mainstream reception, they demand Microsoft invest more, they want first party studios to hype about, they want their counterparts to Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica and Sucker Punch and Japan Studio - and they also want new IPs to take the world by storm like The Last of Us and Horizon: Zero Dawn.

I have defended Microsoft to ridiculous extents in the past, and looking back I'm embarrassed to admit a lot of the responses in this thread weren't too different from my own. If this post comes across as melodramatic, fine, but I wonder at what point some of you get sick and tired of looking at what Sony and Nintendo are putting out and securing exclusively and comparing that with pitiful output of Xbox.

I can't fault a single word of this post.

I'm hoping Phil's trip to Japan was for the purpose of filling this void.

I'll be honest, I feel like youre making a situation up in this thread here. All Xbox fans including myself has stated they want more games.

Yeah, looks like this thread is not about the conference anymore.
First party discussion is relevant to the conference.

I look forward to seeing CD3, SoT and SoD2 in action, but my hype is definitely very low after MS' studio closures, project cancellations and last year's disappointing (imo) E3 conference. I want to see new and surprising announcements at E3 this year, not just expected sequels and games that were announced years ago.

Did MS or Phil or anyone already state that it was still going to only be a 90 min show? Would be cool that since they moved to Sunday, they added an extra half hour. :D

Never said it was not relevant. Don't even think I mentioned anything to negate 1st party worries.

However, yes project cancellations and more so the studio closures and partings ain't helping them.

Would feel like they moved it for some reason, but not sure if they extended it by 30 mins. Would be nice, cause would mean they have shit to talk about. Was it 90 mins last year?

Maybe they just do like Sony and start 10 minutes late and end randomly. Not sure if the conference is gonna be on spike this year

"The team is working very hard". And "the game is still in development" is kinda of what i'M TALKING ABOUT. Sony went dead silence with the game, when asked they said it was still in development. Then Ueda left Sony, and they they announced the game was coming to Ps4 and that Ueda would finish it.

They even said the game was being developed for Ps4 back in 2011/2012 when they announced, but when asked after that date before announcement (and even after Ps4 was already announced IIRC) they assured it was a Ps3 game still.

It's been 90 minutes for as long as I can remember. I don't think I really want to sit through 2 hours anyway. You have a problem with pacing if the conference runs for 2 hours.

Don't think a long(er) conference is anything good.
Would rather have a shorter 60 minute show.

But don't take my word for any gospel. I also dislike 15 minutes gameplay reveals at E3. Could just be put on YouTube and has the same affect.
Most here would probably disagree on that.

You should still expect 90 minuttes imho.

Exactly. Personally I just keep my expectations low but that doesn't mean I don't want MS to drastically improve their first party. Demanding change can only get you so far.

I do wonder how MS paces the conference and their releases in general.

Crackdown, state of decay, Assassins creed and Shadownof war are all third person open world games with action elements. They overlap a lot. I don't think it would be wise to show them back to back, so I'm guessing that one of the first party games would be introduced first, and the others would be broken up by Forza 7 and maybe the ID@xbox segment

As for the releases, It would help if Assassins released in November but it'll probably be October. So one of the MS games(Crackdown or SoD) would be competing with the third party marketing relationship

Like platinum still wants to deal with Microsoft.

Until we get some facts that tell us MS treated them like shit and only they are to blame..... i don't get why you would say this. As if MS and PG are enemies now or something. Scalebound was canned because things didn't work out for whatever reason.

Surely if MS had been completely in the wrong we would have heard Kamiya about it.

Not sure why Microsoft even bother. This E3 will be about Switch.
The 30 second 2018 release window announcement for Crackdown 3 will win you over!

I really, really hope this is the year CD3 gets released... We've waited long enough, damnit.

Hmm people at MS have been rather contained about their excitement. Especially Major Nelson. Quick someone get a cookie and persuade MN to say something on twitter that is hype.

I guess I'm easy to please but a new beastly console is more than enough to get me very excited about E3. I understand that people want exclusives to justify their platform of choice but to me there's just so many games out there already and only so much free time that I don't value exclusives as much as a good platform running on powerful hardware.

I feel like the whole exclusive thing is mainly a list war in disguise.

Anyways I'm all up with MS delivering on 1st party games don't get me wrong, but its clearly not priority #1 for me and I feel I'm not the only one thinking this way.

I bet they are on severe lockdown. I bet they don't want anything to leak, but I am sure they also don't want high profile MS employee's to post things like "you will be amazed", "it is going to be incredible" etc.

I am going in with tempered expectations. We know what the holiday line up will most likely be (Forza 7, Crackdown, State of Decay & Sea of Thieves unless it is a 2018 title) and we know many of the 3rd party games. For me, what I am most looking forward too that I know they will show/discuss is what Scorpio brings to existing games and how newer games perform/look on the new system. If there are a few or a lot of new game announcements then that will be great, but not expecting that going in.

For Doffen's sanity's sake, I certainly hope so.

I don't think it will be delayed again tbh.. but it's just weird that it's been 3 years since it was announced and all we've got to go on is a tech demo from 2015.

They've been reiterating a release this year on the Crackdown twitter handle recently, so I think we can breathe easy on that one. Sea of Thieves is probably the one that's a big question mark in terms of when it'll release.

My guess is they want to go all out with the game during E3. Probably a nice lengthy gameplay demo that will hopefully impress us all. It has the potential to be something awesome and hopefully manages to grab a bigger audience this time too. Or at least big enough that it will sell decently.

I am really looking forward to it. I loved the first game and while the 2nd game was not as good, it was still a lot of fun. Hopefully they knock it out of the park...it has had a lengthy development time....so now is the time to show what it is all about and hopefully it is a home run.

To be honest, although MS hold the marketing deal, I'd be fine with no mention of Shadow of War. There's already over an hour of gameplay out there that shows much of what to expect so I can't see a stage demo being anything new.

You'll get your Shadow of War stage demo and you'll like it!

Trolls taking a shit in a MS/Xbox thread...how original.

He's referring (sarcastically) to another thread on GAF .. Doffen 's been on the Xbox train for a while now :P

I agree.

One of Rare's producers hyped up the E3 build on Twitter, so I guess we'll get a much clearer picture on SoT very soon.

Joe Neate‏ @JoeNeate1 May 26
Played our E3 build for the first time this morning. Fuck-ing hell. Immense. Can I skip the interviews and just spend the week playing it

For what's worth, a few days ago they tweeted about the game being a 2017 still. A full reveal at e3 is also confirmed.

If you didn't know that it would read exactly like it is posted, a troll post. But I will edit since you are the second person that posted supporting this person. Thanks for bringing it up!

Yeah he is well known here.
Just still salty cause he lives in a tier 2 country ;)

I'm amazed there are zero leaks.

Leaks will probably happen this weekend or next week. I believe at least one of Sony, MS or Nintendo will have something leaked at some point before E3.

Good thing I'm on vacation next week! :)

I'll try to avoid GAF while away and come back just in time for Xbox showtime. It'll be glorious!
