Game soundtracks on vinyl | Analogue Gen 33fps

According to the email I received the 3 LP "Game of the Year" Edition of The Witcher 3 soundtrack will be available via SPACELAB9 in North America on Friday.
Thank God. Spacelab9 has really been mucking about in this vinyl so far. States 120 minutes instead of 1h20m (never corrected themselves) and then with this have made no proper announcement...until now I guess?...about a 3 LP version available for US.

So is this iam$75fora2xLP's new schtick? Exploiting anxious Nintendo fans with lame cover albums?

Also, Zelda and Pokemon? What daring and artistic choices, definitely not picked for the potential financial return.

Speaking of, have they shared any of the process yet?

I think you might be the only person who thinks the Hero of Time orchestral is lame. It's absolutely fantastic. From what I've heard of Johto Legends it's equally as good. Should be out in a few months.

Art is tricky because you're very limited in what you can and cannot use from a legality standpoint, unless you're Moonshake and you just don't care.

So I've got some original chiptune music vinyl project's in the works! I'm collaborating with a couple different awesome musicians, and I'm designing them in a way that makes them feel extra special, but I'm also concerned at how far I can go before they would be too pricey for folks. Lenticular coverart, diecut vinyl, holofoil sleeves, etc! Is the $20-$25 price range the highest you guys would probably go in on for an original chiptune album? These would be in hand before they would go up for sale... just trying to find a nice balance between costs and ideas to maximize their potential! Cheers! :)

I might be in the minority but as nice as those things are, all I really care about is having a properly mastered record that sounds great with a nice sleeve to accompany it. No gimmicks; it's either going to sit on my shelf with my hundreds of other records, or spin on my turn table. After iam8bit and most other labels have effectively ruined this hobby for me with ludicrous price gouging, the absolute max I'm willing to spend on a record nowadays is around the 20 dollar mark, unless it's something so incredibly special and I absolutely have to have it. And unless your original chiptune music is by a well known band/artist, I would imagine it would be a hard sell if it cost anything more than that.

Yeah for sure, that's totally fair and good feedback! I'm definitely biased in this since I want to make art & design the best to my abilities I can on each project, but also dont want to sabotage the music in any way that can hurt the release sales. I feel like maybe having a high quality black vinyl option like data discs does is the safest bet?

Just made a mock order on SL9 to check the estimated international shipping prices and they ranged between $35-50 for the cheapest option. Now I'm even more pissed at Game Legends putting the CE up early.

I think think geek gives you like 40 minutes to cancel and order or something like that. So be careful.

Edit: There's a little clock when you order from think geek in each order that tells you until when you can cancel. Unless the clock doesn't mean anything.

In case it hasn't been posted it yet: Spacelab9 copies go up at 1pm EST. There are only 100 copies, for a worldwide total of 200. Of the 100, 50 of them are signed by composers Marcin Przbylowicz & Mikolai Stroinski. You will have a choice to buy a signed or unsigned copy. Limit is 2 per customer.

Wow. Still only 100? That would make sense for signed copies, but why on Earth are they making people miss out on a whole other LP like that...

This is so dumb.

It's dumb in so many ways.

First, it locks part of the soundtrack to a ridiculously low number.

Second, if you are going to sign 50 copies and there are 100, just fucking sign all of them.

Third, don't haphazardly put up half the stock in a different website with NO previous announcement.

They struck gold signing a highly regarded soundtrack (even if I'm personally not a huge fan) and then bungled the whole thing.

Lastly, I hope they have updated their bandwidth since the release of The Lego Movie soundtrack. That's the only time I've purchased something from them and the site took a massive dump during the drop for that.

They have. Their site has been smooth sailing for me on all orders after the updated the site.
