How does the online in Crackdown 3 even work? Is it like the first one where you can do full co-op together?

Is it more like GTA Online?

lol these strawmen arguments. It isn't hard to understand what people want. People are saying that they'd like the cloud destruction to also be in campaign as an option. In other words, if they're online, they can have it enabled, if they're not, then it won't be.

Hell, I'd take just a free-roam mode (outside of campaign, but not multiplayer) where I can just go around doing whatever I want, including destroying the city.

Because having the destruction be multiplayer-only is cool and all, but if it's going to be a situation where it's just a massive free-for-all where there are 10-20 other players and you can all kill each other like GTA Online, then I can see why people don't want that to be the only option.

Running that much server processing for every single person potentially playing this mode online isn't feasible. We have to wait and see how the MP destruction even looks in the final product. If they pull that off like in the tech demo, that is crazy enough.

Nah.You obviously haven't been in a Crackdown thread before.

The initial complaint was that cloud destruction would mean the game was online only, even If playing solo.

Then when the offline SP mode was anounced the complaint shifted to offline players getting a gimped version of the game.

We have no idea what the online mode will be like. I wouldn't be surprised if the main campaign Can be played online- solo or with a group. That's how Crackdown 1 was. All we know is that people who don't have an internet connection will be able to play the game , albeit with less impressive destruction.

That's the impression I get. GTA Online. But dunno.

They would then have to essentially make two versions of the single player campaign. One offline, one online. Pretty much every line of code would need to be repeated for the online version. That's waaaaaay too much work, it's either online only or it isn't lol. MS went for an offline mode due to the DRM backlash and it's hard to blame them

Crackdown 3 has a full offline single-player campaign, which can also be played co-op up to 4 players on Xbox Live. Then it has a multiplayer mode which has all the cloud physics stuff. This has been the clear objective since announcement, it's not hard to follow.

Of course it is, where there's a will, there's a way.

Please forgive me. I've been dealing with some real doosies in the EA access thread, so my sarcasm meter is not calibrated well.

Yeah, what dis boy talking about?

I do hope the car handling is done well though. After GTA V I just can't really enjoy car handling in many games anymore. I mean it's just bad in Sleeping Dogs and it wasn't too hot in the Saints Row games either. But it feels great in GTA V.

Seeing as Sumo Digital is working on the game, I bet the car handling will be pretty damn good. I liked Crackdown 1's tbh, it was simple and appropriately weighty.

Licensing deals are weird. Microsoft is essentially missing out on the opportunity to spend more money to sell the same games. I mean, CoD still sell well on XB1.

But they do make fans of particular consoles feel good.

Destiny marketing was huge for Sony...they got a pretry big bump in sales

Destiny marketing was huge for Sony...they got a really big bump in PS4 sales

That's one Microsoft should have gone after. From my [limited] understanding of the situation, Microsoft could have been the publisher of Destiny.

Elder Scrolls 6?

I'm not expecting it, but this would be a huge thing for Microsoft to reveal. There's speculation that it could be revealed this E3 based purely on the fact that Microsoft's show is right before Bethesda's.

No way, now, the new Bethesda IP with marketing rights to Microsoft and Play Anywhere support on the other hand.. I would believe it.

Microsoft will likely have the marketing rights to Elder Scrolls 6, but yeah -- given what Bethesda has said about it, we shouldn't be expecting a reveal this E3. I would think next year is when we may see it at the earliest.

Unless Todd Howard and Pete Hines were flat out lying to us, we won't hear or see anything from TES 6 for a long ass time. They both said BGS is working on two big projects, each bigger than they've ever done before. And we all know that they take their time for their games, which is good of course.

judging by that picture Bethesda released about their show there's sadly even a chance we won't get to see BGS's new game at this E3 because there's a good chance the two new games are Wolfenstein 2 and The Evil Within. Since we've had signs of both and nothing really about BGS's next game.

As a hardcore TES fan it's almost a bit depressing to think how long we'll probably be waiting for the next one. :(

Oh, absolutely, the issue here is like you said, Elder Scrolls 6 is too early, I don't even think we are going to see it next year, maybe 2019, and even then I would be 50/50 about it because Bethesda now have a very 'quick' cycle to actually reveal and release the game, I think they will do like Fallout 4, so maybe 2020 e3 reveal and late 2020 release.

I have really no hype at all for the Microsoft conference this year, they need to announce something unexpected for me to jump back in.
I hope they treat Scorpio as a genuine new console launch, considering its got the big stage at E3.

With that I hope they announce loads of new titles and just give a good show.

I have the feeling that a lot of people are feeling the same way as you, and you'll be surprised.

They can't treat it like a new console launch because it isn't. There won't be any Scorpio only games and the feature set is the same as the XBO.

I really do want to be surprised, but prettier looking versions of Halo and Forza just isn't going to cut it for me.

Sorry I don't mean from a console perspective, more the show if you know what I mean?

Even that sounds like it will be at the earliest. Let's say we don't get BGS's new game revealed this year and it will get a E3 reveal and release next year. 2019 the second new BGS game reveal and release the same year? That could mean a TES VI reveal for 2020 and release as well since Bethesda wants to reveal and release in the same year ever since Fallout 4.

But that would mean we get three BGS games on a yearly basis for three years. That's very unusual for them. It's really a weird and unusual situation anyway.

I think I get what you mean, and agree.

Also, for what it is worth, I predict MS is going to abandon "generations", so Scorpio is probably a test run for how their new systems will be handled going forward. Just my guess on that, I have no inside info.

You're right, they never did that, but now they a new studio based on Montreal, so you should expect more games from them, I personally think we are going to see their new IP this year.

They didn't, however, say anything about TES3: Morrowind Remaster !

Remaster as in Skyrim SE or a complete overhaul for visuals? Because Morrowind today doesn't look too hot. :)

Ah yes that is indeed true. BGS expanded right? They used to be about 100 employees. If we see their new IP this year that could potentially mean a release this year as well. Although it's possible that Bethesda only meant that for established franchises like Fallout and TES.

I hope so man, I would fucking love to see their new IP this year. Especially with the possibility that it's a sci-fi game. But that would mean no The Evil Within because Wolfie2 seems like a given now. I would be fine with that though.

I don' t get your reasoning. It is absolutely a new console, and MS can hype the hell out of it if they want. They don't have to go in screaming next gen if that's what you mean, because it's not next gen. But there are new games on the horizon for xbox one and scorpio is going to make them look gorgeous. I can't wait to see the announcements and the demos of stuff being shown on scorpio. Should be fantastic.

I'm expecting Microsoft to start off their press briefing with a gameplay trailer for crackdown or some other very impressive showcase game for Scorpio.
I then expect them to show the actual console and announce the price IF it is more than $399.
(If it is $399 then I think they will end the conference with that announce.)

I know that there isn't a lot we know about right now, but I think they might have some cool stuff in development for this year and next so I'm excited to see what it all is.

Also I'm willing to go ahead and make a prediction that despite being codename Scorpio they will release in early October with Crackdown, Forza 7, and possibly shadow of war being launch titles.

It makes the most sense to me as it just seems to fall in a nice spot in terms of this falls game line up and is going to be a much easier month for them to "win" and get some good momentum going for November where they will face some tough competition with switch holiday sales and big PS4 marketed shooters releasing.

I haven't posted much lately just been reading but anyone else who did the same just feel that every little thing you read about MS at E3 has been lacking of excitement, hope ? Lately there was a thread about room size and how MS has regressed as opposed to the other bigs and how that doesn't inspire much hope. Those news combined with Phils comments a while ago saying how they want to spend more time on storytelling per game at E3 as he felt they needed to extend each of their games at E3 to explain the story better (as if that aspect was strong to begin with) has me worried. I feel like they are going to announce few games and extend their time at stage to fill their slot.

I honestly think this E3 is the least I've been hyped for Xbox.

Yup, I'm hyped to see a new sci-fi game by Bethesda, there's also Project Dylan that's also a sci-fi game, fans of the theme should be happy that we are seeing a lot of new sci-fi games, I wish Microsoft could let 343 do Halo RPG as well..

Dont get why its news about the booth size. They moved the meetings rooms out so there is room for more stations and Phil said they removed alot of other clutter wich you usually see at the booth. Resulting that its maybe smaller but more stations then usual.

Thats my feeling with the others, not Xbox though. I was just thinking we get to see Scorpio in 1 weeks time, so damn excited, got my friends on XBL ready to hangout on partychat, booked the next day off work and told my wife im busy for the day. Its going to be crazy. Also, Amazon orders go up i guess, god dammit!

Eh, no it certainly doesn't.
Morrowind needs a complete makeover.
The good news is they could just leave everything else more or less as it is, nothing else about the game feels particularly dated compared to Oblivion and Skyrim imho.

I agree in that if the price is $499, they will announce it earlier in the show. If it is $399, they will announce the price at the end.

Apart from those MR headsets they will only be for the Scorpio. Plus last E3 they had an out 'all your games, accessories from Xbox One will work on Scorpio'. That doesn't preclude Microsoft from a point in time turning the base specs to Scorpio.

?

Any chance that Rare will announce anything else at the conference other than show more of Sea of Thieves? I'm not getting my hopes up or anything, but I remember there was a rumor right after last year's E3 that Rare was working on two other games in addition to SoT. Has anything come of that or even will?

It wouldn't be a AAA game. They could be working on a smaller scale game to go along with SoT

Yeah, I could definitely see that happening. If they're working on anything else, it's probably small scale compared to SoT.

It's probably Battletoads, isn't it? *Sigh*

Phil didn't mean they wanted to explain their games' stories as in actually explaining what happened in act1, act2 and act3. What he meant was that they usually show their games with a quick trailer or a gameplay segment at best, which is not enough for some titles and they should totally work on that.
I've said this before, but ReCore is the best example of what they do WRONG with their games. Not showing what the game was about and how the combat is actually pretty fun and fast paced. https://youtu.be/531U9jqEm7c?t=1370 this too.

This approach turned out pretty succesful last E3 with Zelda and Nintendo and I fully expect them to show the systems in State of decay and Crackdown in full detail.
