Sony E3 Conference confirmed for usual time (Monday 6pm PT)

The fact that quite a bit of the Sony partnerships revealed their games prior to the conference itself makes me think that we'll be getting 1-2 minute trailers for most rather than a huge focus on them.

Yeah, hopefully. I could still see something like COD getting a gameplay demo like it did last year though. And Destiny 2 will probably have a huge presence as well. All in all I estimate that 3rd parties will take up roughly 40-45 minutes of the conference.

No chance it will happen but if they open the show in a similar style to last year but it's an orchestral performance of Simple & Clean into a 4 minute Kingdom Hearts 3 story trailer. My, oh my.
I'd say there's actually a pretty decent chance of something like that happening. The only crux is that it's a 3rd party game, but if it came with the announcement that it's now exclusive to PS4 then it would be more realistic. The last time Sony opened with a 3rd-party exclusive was 2014 with The Order 1886.

They opened 2014 with Destiny. KH3 isn't going to be exclusive so I think Destiny 2 is a more likely third party conference opener.

Unfortunately, I don't think Destiny has ever had a good stage showing so that's not super exciting for me.

TLOU 2 is a no show, they already said it won't return for awhile. I REALLY hope Uncharted, GT Sport, Dreams, Detroit will be a trailer after/before the show, unless of course Dreams will be re-revealed as PSVR supported too. Sadly Far Cry 5, COD, Battlefront and Destiny 2 will drain up quite a lot of time.

Source?

I don't even think it would matter that KH3 is multiplat. Virtually no one is buying it on Xbox. The result would be the same, and, oh my, that'd be fucking amazing.

(The Order was PS4 exclusive)

That's how it usually is. COD and Destiny will get their stage time so I hope people can just make their peace with that but 3rd party games are usually just a short intro and a trailer.

I think people really exaggerate how long each game gets on stage.

If they're going with a third party game that they have a marketing agreement with, I hope they land a RDR2 trailer / demo to kick things off.

I don't think that's true. When it was announced, Neil actually said we'd be hearing more about it in the coming months

It’s still early days for the project—the game’s release is a ways off—but we couldn’t wait any longer to give you a glimpse of what’s to come. We’re going to let the trailer speak for itself, but expect more information about The Last of Us Part II in the coming months.

We really haven't heard anything about it since then. So, E3 would obviously be a perfect place for it.

Yes, you're correct about 2014. Actually I think you may be right about Destiny 2 opening the show too. That would be quite underwhelming considering they opened the past couple of years with TLG, God of War. But it's arguably the biggest marketing partnership that they have and Destiny 2 is going to sell way more than those games. Oh well.

I want Destiny 2 to get stage time. I'm extremely excited for it. But it opening the show would be so uninspired at this point lol

Hmm interesting, guess I was wrong about it. Probably a false memory or it was for another game because I remember there was a game with teaser and they said it was revealed just to let the fans know it is indeed in development but it will be awhile until they have more things to show.

It will definitely get stage time. As long is it's not their opener or their "one more thing" announcement then I'm OK with it. I think that God of War will definitely be their closer, similar to how UC4 closed their E3 2015 conference. Their opener could be anything at this point:

Destiny 2
SP's new IP
KH3

All potential candidates

i disagree with god of war 2 clossing i think that kh3 should be close it

Destiny 2 will be at the show with a general trailer with maybe some focus on the exclusive PS4 content ( alpha beta etc ) . FC5 on the other hand could be there with a small demo like in 2014.

Just don't paragon the closing and I will be fine with it. Days Gone was a very weird closing considering they revealed it and then close it with gameplay, I'm super excited for Days Gone though.

KH3 isn't going to be exclusive.

KH 3 not being exclusive is still a little weird to me. I'm all for everyone playing it but why were the 1.5 + 2.5 remasters and KH 2.8 PS4 exclusive ? It's just a bit odd to bring KH3 to another platform, that hasn't had the previous games on it, especially when the new remasters were not released on Xbox.

It would have been a great opportunity to get Xbox players up to speed with the older games before KH 3 finally comes out. I wonder if it might end up being a PS4 exclusive in the end or they finally bring the remasters to Xbox at some point before 3 comes out.

Why are people so sure Kingdom Hearts 3 is going to be at the show at all?

It is an anniversary year for KH. Not necessarily at E3, but something this year feels likely, given they've already done a lot of other stuff like concerts and older KH re-releases to line up their 2017 in first half.

Oh God that was terrible..especially considering they opened with UC4 and FFVII, then Layden said that they had a lot more to show in the conference.

About Days Gone, I still think that was weird because the trailer that they showed earlier in the conference ended right where the gameplay demo picked up..so I think that was supposed to cut straight to gameplay. It lends credence to the rumor that RDR2 was supposed to end the show. And it's already been confirmed that Days Gone will have a major presence at their conference next week but I doubt that it'll open or close this year's conference.

I hope they open with something new, like last year, but if not, I want either KH3 or Spider-Man. A huge demo of Spidey to open up with would be dope, especially if they use this trill ass theme to start it lmao

Why are people so sure Kingdom Hearts 3 is going to be at the show at all?

Logically, KH3 got announced in 2013, skipped a show, got a decently-sized gameplay reveal in 2015, skipped a show, it's reasonable to expect there should be a new trailer this year for a release next year.

Nah, most people still expected Xbox to be the sales leader this generation back in 2012/2013 when KH3 would have been in it's initial planning stages. I do think it's strange they never bothered porting the HD remakes to Xbox though.

Dreams was always going to get PSVR support after release but with them going dark on it for so long, there is a very good chance it has been reworked to be a true PSVR game, which is fine by me because I can imagine it will make a brilliant VR game, way more than a standard game.......... or it's dead but I think the VR option is more likely, as Sony need to push more 1st party VR games.

I wonder if the reason TLoU 2 was shown so early was because Sony was eager to make amends for closing with Drawn to Death and Paragon the previous two years. Because man, those were two diabolically awful choices to sign off a conference with.

Seriously if they won't show KH3 at this E3 the game must be in shit state.

The opener will be something from Sony IMO.

Wasnt the destiny 1 beta released as a "available now' announcement ar E3. What are the chances that happens this year? Im off Tuesday so id love to be able to play it all day.

Well, at least Scorpio would provide decent hardware for KH3 if 0.2 is an indication how it looks/runs on PS4/Pro (900p+ass frame pacing/1080p with framerate all over the place).

Who even cares about that? They announced it early because they wanted to.

I don't think it is a hardware problem. It is a Square problem.

Can't wait for them to unveil the Dreams actual game. Considering the weird misconception that Dreams is somehow only a boring user creation tool I think it would be wise of them to perhaps change the name when they're ready to announce the story mode and more actual fun playable levels.
