Regardless of how big AoE was in the past, the fact remains that any game that is W10 Store will struggle in comparison to a Steam release.

Screen goes black. "Windows 10 Exclusive" we see a war between two armies going on in a forest which appears to be set in medieval times. Swords, shields, bows...the typical 12th century stuff. Camera cuts closer to a fight between two knights when one of them finally wins the battle. After that we suddenly hear a roaring sound, kind of chilling metallic sounding. Through the bushes an american m4 shepard tank appears firing his rounds into the battle along with soldiers equipped with thompsons and m1garands storming the battlefield.

Camera cuts to aerial view and then proceeds to cut into the sky showing the game's logo.

Age of Empires 4

Created by a new Studio from Microsoft

A 'proper' Age of Empires would steal the show for me, and I do firmly believe it would drive a lot of people to the win store on PC

Not getting my hopes up though

449 EUR would mean it's dead on arrival here. They are already selling the Xbox One S + Forza Horizon 3 or Battlefield for less than 200 EUR, and are still selling less than Sony.

If Scorpio is meant to revitalise Xbox One sales, then they need to offer competitive pricing.

I don't think is ever been presented as a way to revitalize sales. Its always been talked about as a premium device. The S is what MS expects to sell most.

Pricing won't save Xbox in mainland Europe.

Unless it includes an elite controller 449 isn't great. It is the most they could possibly charge without it being DOA.

Nah. Still think 499 is just fine. Above that is when you have issues.

They are trying to keep prices down, by adding an elite controller you are defeating the purpose.

I don't think they are trying to keep price down. They've said it is a premium model and it is for their core audience. I think they would be fine with higher prices if that is the case. Scorpio isn't supposed to be a mass market attraction.

It must be $399. With $449 or $499 the narrative becomes negative. Maybe they can get away with $449 and Forza 7 inlcuded or something. But thats it.

If the scorpio is $399 I'm in on day one. Like a lot of other gamers, I switched from X360 to ps4/pro this gen based on price and power. If MS hopes t0 bring back the majority of players to the xbox brand, they need to make Scorpio impulse territory. Otherwise DOA );
IMO.

Alright guys, what's the first demo they will show off?

I think Crackdown 3 will open after the Scorpio reveal.

If their target is their core i think you're right. If they are hoping to attract 360 players who jumped to PS4 or people with a higher end pc and no console yet I think they need 399 to win over that audience. 399 will be around $520 for most people in the US after tax, Xbox live and a game which I think is already high for most people who already have another way to play multi plats.

That said 399 I'm there day one.

Yeah, but doesn't mean to add something like another cost to the price like the elite controller. Gotta use your common sense here.

Yeah, I see Scorpio as more about taking steps toward rehabilitating their image in that they are offering an enthusiast model that shows their commitment to trying for the console performance crown. This gen's placings were nearly decided from year one, but MS can spend the next few years improving their platform trajectory in a bid to start off that much stronger for 2020 or whenever a new round begins. Vanilla X1 needs to drop in price more than Scorpio needs to start relatively cheap, IMO, but software is still going to remain the primary stumbling block. They just need to turn the corner with a good holiday 2017.

I see a $399 mic drop. I don't think they'd wait to announce the price if it was above 399. Remember Sony dropping the 399 bomb?

Has to be Forza

I don't know if it'll be Forza. I think they have to open with something different, this is coming from a huge Forza fan. I don't remember the last time they opened with Forza, usually at least a game or two before it.

I don't think they want to reveal the console and then go back to Forza, even though it will probably be the showcase title.

I can't see them announcing a non favourable price at E3, it will go down like a lead balloon and draw attention away from the positives. If they say wait for Gamescom for info on price we are doomed!

Probably around 450$ to 500$ but i'm really hoping for 399$ so the prices can be... manageable here in Brazil

Microsoft does a good job maintaining presence and serviceable prices here, surprisingly (well above Sony and let's not get started on Nintendo, please). If only they could stop thinking so much about the US and see the entire brazilian market ripe for the taking... Here is probably one of the few places where microsoft image ain't as villified as other places and sony is not as beloved (due to their history of ridiculous prices). A relatively cheap Scorpio would work wonders specially because PS4 slim is still quite expensive around here

Not gonna happen when the $ RRP is excluded tax and the UK price includes 20% tax.
Also not when we have fucked our own exchange rate by being international bastards.

Eh it could easily be £399 / $449 or something like that. With a more expensive SKU on top for the 'hardcore'.

Sony is getting by just fine with sub £349 PSPro's.

One of my predictions. Battleground's coming to xbox one this summer in game preview.

Actually, it would be awesome to have the press conference and announce it was active now! Certainly a good time to throw people in while the hype for the game is hot. Then it will be nice and ready for Scorpio.

Perhaps not the model itself, but the message is pretty clear that Scorpio is the we heard you console, that is aimed at making Xbox the best place to play, and develop.

They may (correctly) think this unit by itself won't become the major seller, but they are betting it can turn the tides at least mind share wise.

What does he even mean with "close to the mark"? That could mean either 450 or 400/500. He's covering all three feasible price points, lol.

I mean, if you don't know the price and want to actually predict it, be specific. If you know the price and don't want to leak it, just shut up.

I was thinking the exact same thing...Jez is full of it

I'm really worried for Cuphead

There's no way the game can live up for all the hype that accumulated during these years. It will be "disappointing" to reviews no matter how good the game end up being

I'm still buying it ASAP tho

People said the same thing about Inside tho. A good game will still be a good game.

I've just gone and checked my maths and anything under $450 would come in sub £380inc vat
So maybe not an impossible thing after all

Inside's development wasn't nearly as... complicated as Cuphead though.
I have no doubts it will still be a good game. just worried people will expect too much (and things that were never promised) from it due to all the delays and pan it because of this, hurting sales (and microsoft's good will to bet on games like it)
