Pokemon Gold/Silver for 3DS VC

It's not as bad as excluding Platinum from a DPP collection, but damn lack of Crystal stings.

I love Gen 2 though, I'm in.

We won't give you Crystal so you have to buy both versions to get all the lengendaries. And we will release it after you bought both versions.

How can this company be so greedy and not even try to hide it?

60+ million userbase > 2 million userbase

What you are recommending is stupid. Next game is Switch, since they just hired people with experience working on HD 3D rpgs.

Why is it stupid?
Do you know how to get a bigger install base? Yeah that's right, releasing games for the system.
I understand if they try to cater to those 60 million first, but why can't it also release for the Switch? I don't think porting the GBC emulator would be difficult.

- Where's Crystal, I mean wtf
- Why doesn't it release like this month? That makes no sense
- Will they fix the shiny formula in Pokémon Bank, they better fix it or there'll be a lot of problems
- Where's Crystal?

There was a gap between Red/Blue and Yellow on VC. Expect the same.

Edit: No, wait, there wasn't? Huh, my memory's playing up.

No Crystal is asinine. I don't give a fuck if the Japanese version has the mobile shenanigans, just release the western versions goddamnit.

YESSS

Now all of my favorite GBC games from my childhood are on the VC. I've been waiting for this moment for so long. Crystal? Whatever. Switch? It'll get it eventually. Nothing will dampen my hype right now.

Now that the first two generations will be on the Virtual Console, with updates to make them compatible with modern facilities (i.e. Pokémon Bank), what's the chance of Nintendo releasing Stadiums 1 and 2 to a console's Virtual Console, with 3DS connectivity?

If that ever happens, I would be seriously happy. I still have my physical cartridges, but not quite the same when I can't put my own Pokémon into the games any longer.

EDIT: I guess since they released without VC, it might be too much to figure out.

It's really hard not to have this reaction:

Never owned these or the DS remakes. Will buy along with Ultra Moon.

What is the difference between these games and Crystal?

And with Pokebank support, I wonder if they let you transfer Pokemon from gen I to these games since the original allowed you.

I've already played Crystal through your own emulation system, Nintendo. KEEP UP

I would even buy that again. It's the one I had played as a kid. Not interested in no Gold and Silver

Mobile shenanigans?

Are Nintendo really holding Crystal out so people double dip? Really? They think that's going to work again in 2017?

I would love to see the sales numbers for R/B/Y. It's got to be pretty overwhelmingly yellow, to the point of why bother releasing red and blue. So that's probably why we aren't getting Crystal. 'Buy Gold and Silver first and then maybe we'll release Crystal' Lol .Jesus Nintendo. What a shit show this direct was.

Mobile shenanigans?

Crystal JP had support for the Mobile GB accessory (see jedivulcan's post). You could connect your GBC to a mobile phone and use rudimentary online features. The Pokémon Center in Goldenrod became the PokéCom Center and was the hub to all of these features. Celebi's GS Ball event was obtainable in this way. Supposedly, there were plans to include these functionalities in the western versions but ultimately they decided against it.

I'm pretty sure that this is the reason why there's no Crystal VC. Still, they could release the Western versions anyway,

Guys, I'm pissed just like most of you, but... how is it Nintendo's fault? Pokémon is not a first Party IP.

Nintendo holds enough of the IP that it essentially is, particularly the trademarks on the characters.

By that logic, Fire Emblem, Paper Mario and Kirby also aren't first party IPs. They're a majority voice in the decisions, even if they leave them to their own devices for the most part.

Doesn't HeartGold & SoulSilver already exist?

Why port the original through VC instead of converting the definitive versions to 3DS like AlphaSapphire & OmegaRuby???

How the hell do you expect them to release a virtual console title on platform that has no virtual console?

They could just release the games for Switch the same way as the Neo Geo games have been treated, it doesn't sound like it would be taxing to release two roms.

They can be added to VC when it comes out.

First they didn't give me Crystal remake. Now they won't give me Crystal VC. Why are you hating on the best Pokémon game, Nintendo?? :(

ORAS were mainline releases with a full development team developing them. This is a rom in an emulator.

You can see where the differences begin.

Fire Emblem and Paper Mario are of course First Party IPs as Nintendo owns all the rights. With Pokémon on the other hand, they couldn't even get the Pokémon Company to allow the same basic functionalities for amiibo, that are present in basically all the rest. And you expect Nintendo to have any say in what games they release when for what system? Lol.

If Nintendo had any say in this, there would have been a mainline Pokémon game on a console many generations before this.

Yeah there was some work done, but not enough:

As I posted on the last page, there's no way to release Crystal internationally without breaking a feature, "romhacking" the game, or only releasing in some countries (iirc Korea only got G/S which were partially based on Crystal's code).
