Sony E3 Conference confirmed for usual time (Monday 6pm PT)

This time is fucking shit for the European audience, which is baffling considering. Still, luckily it's Ramadan so I'll be up around that time anyway.

It's always been like that, aren't y'all used to it by now? I tend to go to sleep early and set the alarm at 3 AM. :)

I hope you don't live in Sweden, sunrise at 3:32 AM that day.
 
I just hope it opens with The Last of Us 2.

Was just imagining the show opening up with guitar strings and now I've gotta listen to the TLOU soundtrack for a bit.
 
I just wrapped up my annual PlayStation predictions for Push Square. I always try to ground these in reality and rumour, so no outlandish speculation. I'll round up my general predictions here, but if you want a bit more clarification on each point then you can read the full thing through here.

First-party

  • Sucker Punch reveal: no idea what it will be really.
  • From Software reveal: Bloodborne 2 or something new.
  • Horizon expansion: either DLC this year or standalone side-campaign in 2018.
  • Live gameplay demos: God of War (show closer), Spider-Man, Days Gone.
  • Trailers: Knack 2 (release date), Gran Turismo Sport (release date), Detroit, Death Stranding (don't believe Kojima), TLoU2 (just a cut-scene; no gameplay).

PSVR

  • London Studio and Manchester Studio reveals: proof of long-term commitment.
  • One "big brand" game: could be anything, but maybe something Star Wars?
  • Montage: quick trailer showing several upcoming games from indies/third-party.

Third-Party

  • Call of Duty: WWII: gameplay demo.
  • Trailers: Destiny 2 (bundle announcement), Crash Bandicoot, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Far Cry 5.
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer: it's been ages since we saw anything. Despite delay, time feels right.
  • Japanese game reveals: Shawn has confirmed this. Not sure what's reasonable really.
  • Montage to showcase variety: Yakuza 6, Ni No Kuni 2, Fifa 18, Dissidia, MvCI, Lawbreakers... Maybe other stuff like LEGO, etc?

Other

  • Days of Play PS Store Flash Sale: starts immediately after conference.
  • Every game shown will be PS4 Pro version.

That's all I got. What do you reckon?
 
I think Spiderman will open, 100%. The closing is harder...could be BB2 if that is a thing, mb a new IP from From but I see that in the middle, along with SP new IP, Days Gone and Horizon DLC...mb DMC5 for the "one more thing".

Detroit won't be there I don't think, neither TLOU2.

I guess it's possible that a Marvel vs Capcom trailer revealing Spider-Man and some other guys could be part of their conference

Yeah, but I think they're going to have some bonus items that they'll put on time-limited sale immediately after the presser. For example, I could imagine them announcing Bloodborne 2 and then being like: "And, as part of our worldwide Days of Play promotion, you can get the original Bloodborne for 75% off RIGHT NOW on the PlayStation Store for the next 48 hours. Check out the PlayStation Blog for more Days of Play deals and details on our first global Flash Sale."

I think they choose that timeslot so it can be watchable in Japan. It's a japanese company after all.

I have a "doctors appointment" next day at 11am...won't be able to go to work in the morning :P
 
I've been told by someone about a "huge AAA" PSVR game that Sony will show at E3. Didn't get the name of it but I can try and get it.

I think it's still too early. I think most of Naughty Dog's attention is on Uncharted: The Lost Legacy right now, but I feel that The Last of Us: Part 2 is too big a deal not to include. So my thinking is they show a new cut-scene, maybe introduce a new character. It keeps the game in the public's mind and provides new avenues for speculation, without really showing much at all.

I'd expect gameplay at PSX later in the year.

I can't wait to round up all these posts after the show. You may be right but I don't get why all the 'no TLOU at E3' posts are all so condescending and dismissive.

It's build upon the experiences the studio made with a God of War VR demo. But it's not longer a GOW game.

The setting was rebooted with ideas and material from a canceled sci fi project. You play as a space merc that hunts down giant beasts for cash but crash lands on a strange planet on the outskirts of our universe. A interplanetary military corporation digs there in old ruins and awakes a race of alien cyborgs that go rampage.

You fight different types of soldiers, the cyborgs creatures and their beats. Some of them are hundreds of feet high.

Weapons? You get different pistols, rifles, a plasma cannon, a rail gun and a big ass rocket launcher. There are melee weapons too: A knife, a laser sword and a electrical whip.

It's a full blown game with nearly 8 hours of campaign and numerous different settings like a jungle, ancient ruins, a military base, a alien spaceship and something that looks like a flying island inside a space vortex.

Would it be a big deal if they announced an alteration to PS+ in which "every free game you receive from PS+ is free forever, even if you unsubscribe, no strings attached"? It would probably never happen, though.

There will be no announcements about PS+, sales or hardware at the conference, It will be Games, Games and more Games.
 
You guys probably saw the thread on the GAF already, but for those who wanted to see Death Stranding, Kojima confirmed that it will not be at E3 this year.

Can't say that I'm shocked from this, but still wishing Kojima the best of luck on his future endeavors.

I know it has. It's just, I figured Sony may adapt its times a little bit considering the other conferences are. Anyway, at least I can eat (kind of) whilst watching the conference lol.
