Alright guys, I'm back. I'll be here off and on and will try to update the train when I have time throughout the day. I have other trains as well when this one fills up.

One ticket first class please , window seat :D

Maybe that's what the trip was about. Not only securing more Japanese games but also getting them to adopt the play anywhere program

Maybe but I don't think they would be E3 announcements more of a before E3 announcement on wire so it's doesn't get lost in the news, but maybe your right Japanese publishers have been doing real well on pc and MS thinks this is a way to help xbox. It be great to see more projects from Square going forward be available on Xbox as they are one of the worst publishers for not releasing on Xbox.

I think the Yooka kickstarter highlighted how big the base dedicated big Rare fans is, but Banjo should easily extend beyond this. Especially if Mayles were to do the level design again, because he is obviously one of the best level designers of the world.

The thing is the vast majority of people don't even know this. Did you see how people ate up the whole "The Creative Talent Behind Banjo and DKC" slogan from Playtonic? There's a ton, I mean really a TON of people who believe Yooka-Laylee was made by the full Banjo team from the old days. It's a small handful of gaffers like you and me who are aware that the team has been missing the single most important piece of the puzzle.

Also 3 million is peanuts for a normal development of say a AA title. When you factor marketing and all that stuff, it's hard to imagine that a Banjo 3 by Microsoft would be much profitable at the 200k units it would probably manage to sell. That's the problem with Microsoft, they don't realize that some games should be supposed to build the portfolio rather than being super profitable.

I mean I don't know if it would get stage time but if they are pursuing a global publishing initiative and bringing Japanese games to both Cbox and PC, it should be highlighted sonewhere

I think it will help Them to achieve Native 4k with 4k textures and hopefully higher framerates, Destiny 2 should be able to acheive 4k/60 fps now.

Bungie stated that their issues with getting Destiny 2 to 60FPS on consoles were CPU related IIRC. Doesn't seem likely that they'd go out of their way to get things up to 60FPS on just Scorpio in that case.

The plus side is that Destiny 2 will look fantastic in 4K and on 1080p sets thanks to Scorpio's built-in supersampling!

Yuuup. Playtonic clearly has a lot of experienced devs, but there is a lot of misinformation about their previous efforts out there.

It's especially weird when people give the devs at Playtonic credit for Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Agreed.

Microsoft's current "go big or go home" attitude is disappointing to see. They supported so many cool games in the XBLA era. : /

This is exactly why I'm so excited about Game Pass and the comments Phil has made about it. The service is exciting enough in itself, but it also gives them a great platform to make smaller experiences again.

I'll hop aboard the hype train but I'll take a seat towards the rear. I'm not interested in the Scorpio, yet at least, but I hope that it can bring something positive to the Xbox brand. I've always enjoyed the Xbox consoles, UI, controllers and features the most so Microsoft being highly competitive is something I wish for. I'm also excited about the already announced Xbox games that we'll see more of and hopefully a few new announcements.

?

They are still supporting many cool indie games now.

To a degree even more so than on 360 era. Before they were the only way a indie developer could get into xbla and they asked for exclusivity to publish those games. Since they were really big developers would go and sign with them.

Now that the market is more open and they no longer need to publish every single indie game it may see they are dwelling down the efforts, but in fact they are investing about the same for projects that they believe, even for IPs they don't even own.

For instance Cuphead and Ashen received funds from Ms to become bigger than they would initially be.

Are we allowed to do trains still?

I mean, put me on it, but was unsure about hype train allowances, haha.

Edit** LOL @ the placement of the cow avatar.

Can I ride on top of the train?....or on top of the cow..

Whilst I want more, they still do this.
Not on the same level.

They have certain partnerships with indie devs, but they're not making an effort to utilize and/or expand the first party portifolio like they did in the XBLA era.

I'm not talking about indie games. I'm talking about first party games.

Games like Joy Ride Turbo, Fable Heroes, Kinect Party, State of Decay, Motorcross Madness, etc. They did a good job with this in the early XBO era with Max, Kalimba, Project Spark, Killer Instinct, Ori and Spartan Assault/Strike, but it seems to have died down now.

This is exactly why I'm so excited about Game Pass and the comments Phil has made about it. The service is exciting enough in itself, but it also gives them a great platform to make smaller experiences again.
I hope so too.

Scorpio isnt gonna change anything sales wise alot indeed.

I like to think Scorpio is the real start of the new Xbox division. Since Spencer took over it was alot of reaction from the reveal still. Sure they did BC, Play Anywhere etc. But i have the feeling Scorpio is the real new start. Maybe even more for them then for us. And more a believe we can still do it.

I agreed. Which is also why, like Ive previously said in this thread, Im very excited about the press conference, even when I recently sold my Xbone, cause MS has a lot to prove.

I haven't counted the games, but I think you are mistaken games they published because they required indies to go through them from titles used to expand their portfolio.

For example Braid which is the hallmark of the indie game explosion was being made anyway, all Ms did was securing a deal to bring it to the platform.

On the other hand I don't think Ms made anything like KI last gen giving one of their IPS in the hands of an indie developer.

I'm gonna need a ticket!

95 minutes confirmed.

Anecdotally they have us (FanFest Super Awesome Cool Fans) scheduled for an event at 4PM, so if the Briefing starts at 2PM on-time, I imagine MAYBE they could go until 3:45 or so before running over.. since we have to be shuttled from place to place.

Though they could just push everything around since it's all their own events. We get there at 12 (!) 2 hours before the event.

Again, I'm not counting games like Braid as a first party release. I know that they published a lot of indie games because of the XBLA policies at the time.

...but they also published and developed a bunch of first party games. That's what I want to see more of again. It doesn't have to be new IPs. They have a bunch of old IPs that could be brought back as small downloadable games.

And they did hand off their own IP to indie developers last gen as well btw. Motorcross Madness was made by an external dev.

This isn't funny. :(

If they're really only working on Sea of Thieves I wish they'd just stay away from anything that could be taken as a hint for a new Banjo-Kazooie. : / At least when we're literally days away from E3.

Really, this is the worst of all, why do they need to play with the hearts of Banjo fans? Do they gain any enjoyment out of disappointed fans? And really, it should come as no surprise to them that desparate Banjo fans will understand these things as Banjo hints.
