Days Gone has to be a success for Bend to stay open anyway. It's baffling to see how they are still open without anything being released since 2011/2012.

I didn't dig that demo from last year and words can only go so far. Impress me at the conference and then we'll talk again about how different thematically and mechanically it is from The Last of Us or other zombie games.

On another note, hoping Spider-Man has a strong showing. Just a base Spider-Man game with SM2 web swinging and better game design isn't really enough. They're going to have to impress with a Sam Raimi style Doc Ock train fight set piece or something.

This makes no sense at all.

I don't get this? Maybe he thinks it's not going to be a good game..

Best wishes.

Days Gone came at the wrong time, IMO.

Zombie games were already getting a bit stale, and the PS4 already has one of the best Zombie games in TLOU Remastered and TLOU2.

Unless it does something super different - more than just having large mobs - I'm not sure why I should be excited for it. The story doesn't seem super notable, and we've only seen one chase scene of gameplay.

It's stale because there's nothing new about zombies, DG could change that. Personally, the zombie mobs look dope. Riding around tore down suburban areas on a bike looking for scraps and tools seems very interesting to me. I'm excited 😊

Eh, that's partially true, but honestly over the last 2 years I noticed that Phil likes to be vocal on twitter but ultimately their conferences always underdeliver [imo of course] while Sony often likes to sit quietly and then drop the bombs during the actual conference.

It's just a difference in the company culture I think. MS likes to boast and hype up the conference, starting from the community manager to the top executive. Sony on the other hand prefers to keep it close to their chest.

That's one of the reasons I really don't like ms. Never won a gen ever but they can talk to cows come home about anything. Getting outsold 2 to 1 world wide but all of a sudden we only care about mau lol

Yup I see this isn't going to be a good place to talk about the game I suppose ah well

This place really isn't the best at gauging what games will do well.

Wildlands and For Honor both prove that. I'm confident we'll see more about the game that proves it's not just running from a Zombie horde. That said. The game so far looks very solid.

Release it at the right time with the right marketing push and you've got a winner.

Yea it's all good.

What you thinking about the release date? Feel good hit of summer 18?

I'm not gonna lie, there's pretty much nothing Days Gone can do to gain my interest, that game is just not for me. I groaned when that game was shown twice at the conference last year. But that's ok, PS have always created games that appeal to all types of gamers. For me it's Spiderman, God of War, TLOU2 and Death Stranding. Detroit I'm intrigued by and will purchase solely dependent on how it reviews.

Sucker Punch is one of my favourite devs so I'm looking forward to their reveal the most, Second Son was legit one of the best launch window games I've ever played and the best Infamous.

As for surprise that will knock me off my feet?
DEVIL MAY CRY 5!

lmao this is kinda depressing for sony gaf, the xbox thread has a hype train and people teasing stuff on twitter and we here have basically nothing :P

We have anticipation. There's no point in trying to make more noise than your competitor in the middle of their news cycle, and Microsoft's press conference is coming up first on Sunday. The most effective strategy is to try to immediately cut coverage short by saving all your announcements for Monday and trying to step in and take over the news cycle. Will it work? That depends largely on what the two companies have in store.

Hype in the days leading up to an announcement is only a reliable indicator of how many are anticipating the news, not how favorably people will react once the news is out. It can be a lot of fun to participate in, of course, and honestly it's great to see some positive decisions coming out of Redmond for a change. Having healthy competitors would be a good thing for Sony fans, too, and since Nintendo already stepped up to the challenge it's clearly Microsoft's turn at bat.

Just don't forget that Sony gets to close it out. That's one heck of an opportunity.

Sorry... but the MediEvil reboot aint happening at E3.... that is being saved for PSX my friend! Along with Playstation All Stars Battle Royale: Round 2!

Things will not happen this E3(Sony conference):

- Devil May Cry 5
- Kingdom Hearts III
- Final Fantasy VII
- The Last of Us: Part II
- Ni No Kuni II
- From Software

Detroit, Knack 2 and Gran Turismo all in the second half of the year would make for one hell of a ridiculous year for PS4 exclusives. One of the best Sony has ever produced.

Spiderman, GoW, Detroit and Days Gone will be there in a big way. I'm sure a release date or time frame will be announced for all of them.

People jumped to compare Day's Gone and TLoU because last year's demo didn't do a good job of separating itself from that and other zombie games

Personally I feel like that criticism/comparison is more applicable to God of War. I hope Santa Monica proves me wrong

Won't happen at E3 in general or just not at Sony's conference? If the former Ni no Kuni is confirmed, look at GameSpot's schedule https://www.gamespot.com/e3/schedule/

Kingdom Hearts III IMO will get a trailer at one of the KH concerts a few days before E3 (the director said KH3's next news will be at a concert and that he's going to a US event but not E3), not at Sony.

I was in the camp of last of us 2 not showing up but the more I think about it, it seems they will show a short cinematic again. Naughty dog hasn't come out and said last of us 2 will not be at e3 like death stranding, shenmue 3 etc.... I remember insomniac and Ssm informing fans they won't be at psx so if it was not showing I feel like naughty dog would have said so.

I don't see why Ni No Kuni wouldn't be there but the rest I can agree with. But I guess we could always get a new CG trailer for TLOU 2.SQENIX seems like they're mismanaging KH3 and FF7R pretty hard though so I wouldn't be surprised if neither show up.

Oh come on! Where is the E3 optimism? I have faith that Ni No Kuni II will be there. I have hope for Devil May Cry 5, Kingdom Hearts III and From Software. I actually do not want the Last of Us Part II to be there. Just like Death Stranding, its not needed at this time and should go dark for awhile.
