I don't know....I love the forza games but having played 2/3/4/5 and FH 1 and 2...I have no interest in 6, and probably little interest in 7 if it is yet another sim circuit racer.

At the same time an urban street racer would feel too similar to the FH series IMHO. It already has the PGR points-style drifiting in it.

I feel like the main selling point of 7 is going to be the graphics (incl number of cars and realistic damage). The circuits are already very accurately modelled, the physics and performance is also very accurate (based on a limited number of side-by-side videos with real world cars).

Forza and PGR don't really feel much alike IMO. PGR is as much about style as it is about driving fast, if not more. They had trials in the campaign that you couldn't pass unless you completed an entire race without breaking a combo. Cone challenges and passing challenges are totally unique to PGR.

Sure Forza games give now you some points for drifting, but Forza is way more liberal with points- handing them out like candy. In PGR you live or die by them, and they are all hard earned.

Jesus people. I was literally talking about the confidence and certainty people have in their own predictions. I wasn't saying anything about the quality of the show.
It's like this every E3... why point it out now? Did you do so last year or the year before?

Phil Spencer on Scorpio pricing:

http://nzgamer.com/features/1490/ph...d-the-changing-console-landscape.html/page-4/

He specifically mentions that Xbox One S and Scorpio will not be priced that much apart from each other that they feel like disconnected devices, they will be priced as part of the same family. He even mentions that the pricing difference between different Xbox One S specs is something that he sees as a guideline of how to price Scorpio accordingly.

Anyone expecting anything above $349-$399 will be disappointed (or glad).

I think they will price it like so:

$199 500GB Xbox One S
$249 1TB Xbox One S
$299 2TB Xbox One S
$399 1TB Xbox One Scorpio
$449 2TB Xbox One Scorpio

This guy gets it. People are doubting aggressive Microsoft.

Personally, I need new fresh games (IPs) more than I need new powerful hardware. SoD2, SoT and Crackdown 3 ain't gonna cut it. Im looking very forward to Crackdown 3, SoT looks mediocre-boring-ish from the gameplay Ive see (technincal alpa) and Im very skeptical to SoD2 because to I really disliked the first game due to it's jankiness. Felt like a Spider-developed RPG.

However, Im really looking forward to Ashen, Below and Cuphead. Hoping for gameplay and release date, but will most likely just pick them up on Steam/PC.

Sod2 is getting a lot of funding, considered triple A title. It was an arcade game originally.

Thing is it has always been pitched as a premium product , so not only should be expect it to be more expensive than the current Xbox, but also the competing products which are lower in specification and perhaps build cost.
We've got more ram , more GPU, more CPU an expensive cooling system, a UHD drive , a faster HDD all packed into a box that is smaller than the competitors machine.

It doesn't make sense for it to be the same price

Exactly. Of course, eveyone wants it at $399 or less and a really aggressive move could put it there from day one. I think it's best to keep more grounded expectations going into Sunday's presentation considering what it offers over the most comparable option on the market, though.

Sony seems fine with the Pro's current adoption rate and doesn't need to announce a drop in price eight months in, but that could happen just ahead of Scorpio's release. I expect MS to be more aggressive with vanilla X1 and drop it to $199 at the low end and Sony could stay at $249 for vanilla PS4 due to the difference in demand. Maybe we'll get a game of chicken going first depending on the reaction on Sunday as Sony counters, forcing MS to respond in kind. They both want to protect their margins on the new hardware, though, but I'm sure we're going to see the two-tiered option for Scorpio right out of the gate which could be what allows them to bleed a little for a nicer entry price while pushing the big HDD & game bundle.

When he made that comment about the logo, he could of meant it as like "They sent me the logo for Forza X and it was awful, I would never approve it".

Maybe?

Ooohh, I remember now, yeah I heard about that rumor. Had completely forgotten.

Yeah he basically just said " I would never approve of that logo " seen in a clearly fake picture. Technically he did not deny the name itself, but we're probably reaching.

Why do people think Sony will drop the price of the PS4 Pro? It appears to be high in demand item that is netting them great margins.

The PS4 didn't get a price drop for 2 years.

The PS4Pro is a victory lap for Sony. They're installed base will continue to rise much quicker than the xb1s thanks to the popularity of the PS4 slim. It wouldn't be financially wise to get into a price war over a portion of the Market that is a niche within a niche- especially not when they are making money hand over fist.

i calculated possible BOM for the Xbox Scorpio and did not come over $400

$140 SOC
$70 RAM
$30 all other Controller, Chips + Wlan
$60 UHD disk-drive + 1TB HDD
$20 Electromechanicals
$25 Mechanicals
$20 Power Supply
$15 Controller
$5 Box and Cables
$15 Assembly and Testing

This is the Xbox One S 2TB back in August 2016

This was the Xbox One and Ps4 back in November 2013

so whatever anyone says to you guys, the console can be made for less than $400
and im 100% certain about this. i took very conservative price points

Well 399 is still 200$ more than an Xbox one S (had no idea those could be bought for 199 these days) so that doesn't look that far fetched when you put it that way.

Your calculation puts this exactly around $400 without including Transportation costs, retailer cuts and MS profits.

Based on your estimates it should be at least $449 or more.

I would expect either $449 to break in or with minor profit or $499 if MS wants to sell this for profit as it's not mainstream product because target base is enthusiasts.

They aren't going to talk up Scorpio then deflate the hype with a price higher than 399. Phil talks premium because that makes the price look even better after hyping it and you are probably looking at a 200-249 Xbox One S so he isn't lying either, it is premium in comparison.

I guess the problem with EA going first is that they cannot really show of BF1 and Battlefront 2 off on Scorpio. I am guessing they show Pro footage and just outline how Scorpio will improve maybe?

I bet they only show the PC versions, so nobody at the event will complain about the framerate. PS4 Pro and Scorpio are not relevant enough for the mass audience, so I doubt that PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio support will be mentioned during their press conference. "Game X will be out on PC, PS4 and X1 on Date Y". That's all.

It's going to be $399, no one is going to pay $499 for a mid gen refresh when next gen rumors are already starting up.

MS has to take loss on this then. Not sure their expectations, but I am sure they will target some profit with each unit as even Sony(who is market leader) could not add UHD drive for PS4 Pro (which sold only around 2M so far as per estimates) just to get the price under control.

Scorpio is not going to set sales on fire, and their best selling SKU still will be XB1 S as mainstream don't care for 4K yet.

I would expect scorpio to be $449 (or more if MS wants profit) and PS4 Pro $349 this holidays.

What about selling for a small loss?

Honestly... Scorpio is not that interesting. PS4 Pro was not that interesting.

I'm down with the performance and graphics boosts and all, but I'm far more invested in what new and exclusive games you're releasing than how much the mid-gen hardware costs.

ofc i does not include anything of that. it's a BOM
costs of goods =/ S&M expenses and profit margins

i also said can be made for unter $400 not will be sold for $400
imho $399 or $449 will be the most likely price points. depending if they're willing to go for a small hit or want a small profit per unit sold.
$349 or $499 are very unlikely imho

Amy Hood on the Financial Analyst Briefing 2017
We have hardware launches, one of which Phil referenced, which is "Project Scorpio," that tends to have and can have an impact on company gross margins in a given year even if the structural improvement in every segment increases.

Eh, I started thinking there might be no Forza 7 actually.

Forza Gotham Racing

(would really be cool if they added a complete Arcady racer to their range and make every game a 3 year cycle instead of a 2 year cycle.

Would also benefit the Forza Motorsports and Forza Horizon brand.

The Xbox One S is 180-190 € here in Germany right now.

Releasing or announcing a console for 499€ would be super stupid.

To be fair.

The UVP (recommended retail price) is still 299 € but retailers are selling it at this low price.

Same would go with the Scorpio. After a few months this would also drop down to <399.

Yeah PC version makes sense.AT least that's a rough approximation of what Scorpio should be running it like.
