I expected as much. $399 was a pipe dream to be honest. We'll see how it goes. Seeing MS position in the market I figured they were gonna make a really big push at $399.

Then again they have always maintained their position that it would be a premium console. If it truly is $499 then the software lineup has to be killer. It has to be, to justify the price tag.

There were a couple sales but nothing widespread.

I thought for sure Sony would drop the Pro to $349 and add bundled games for a counter to Scorpio but they may not even need to do that if $499 is the price.

I still feel like Microsoft is leaking a fake price or something because, while fair, $499 Is not going to move the needle. $399 would have gotten people talking and would have made direct comparisons to the Pro damaging due to them being the same price.

If all MS learned from launch is that they lost a lot of ground because they didn't have most graphically intensive box, they might be in for a bad time.

Getting the same 4k performance may be difficult though. I say this as someone with an i7/980Ti.

I'd never spend 700$ (I'm in Canada) on any console ever - I'll go buy a Mac at that price instead, or put the money towards something I'd use every day.
