So 399 confirmed, then. xD
If Geoff himself wants the system to be $399 he could leak $499 to help Microsoft see the backlash before their conference in the hopes that they would change it.
Mainstream would ignore it even at 399, just like the proIt's not only about us. If the mainstream audience ignores the product, then third party publishers have no reason to put a lot of effort into Xbox One Scorpio support.
While I will admit I was drunk when I said it, I still stand by the price being $399.
[/QUOTEIi used to be a drunk. I still am, but I used to be too.I'm still drunk
Inflation. Imagine how expensive the last gen consoles would be today, if adjusted for inflation.Lmao you could literally make this argument for anything ever to defend a price.
Feel like no amount of marketing could have prepared people for this. They've constantly told people it was going to a more expensive SKU.
Stop. Microsoft wants Scorpio to sell.
$500 wouldn't be niche. It would be a disaster.
No matter what happens, this conference will be amazing, I am fully hype.

Honest question: If you were already a "no", why the hell do you even care? The difference between a $400 upgrade and a $500 upgrade is the difference between a 'no' and a 'hell no' for me.
Especially for the console I play the least.
Are people serious with this? You really think that after all the number crunching they went through they are going to see some negative forum posts and change their entire plan.
They're already behind the competition. Why would they release a product with the intention of it being niche and not improving their current position?
$499 would be a hard sell regardless. Doesn't make sense.
Ah, just finished getting my full body yakuza-style tattoo that says "XBOX PROJECT SCORPIO WILL COST $399"
Now to check Twitter and take a big sip of Gamer Fuel
I just don't think Microsoft is in a position to release a niche product. I'm probably in for $499, but my friends probably aren't in it for over $399.
Skipping to bargaining.
lmao did you guys see Kaz's Tweet reply to Geoff? Something to the effect of "It needs to be $100 more"

Xbox one S includes 4k bluray and costs 250how much are standalone 4k blu ray players these days?
considering the specs i guess its reasonable, if i were still buying consoles on the reg it wouldnt put me off

That seems like a completely impossible option
What are your thoughts?
MS would never scrap their entire plans after internet backlash.
Why should first party play such a big role when deciding to buy a console when it will be the most powerful console period? All the third party games will look better and I think that will matter to people. He wouldn't. I feel very confident now that he's gone on record saying this it's a $499 price point. Which is pretty crazy to me. No matter how "Premium" of a product this is MS doesn't have near the 1st party output to really make this price a viable strategy imo.
We will see though. ME better be guns blazing at their conference to justify this in the eyes of consumers
Well the original xb1 was less powerful than the ps4,was the only sku and had a ton of other downsides to itYeah it's pretty astounding MS is going to have a repeat performance. When they got on stage and dropped $499 price last time it was immediately apparent they had made a mistake.
And they are going to go up there and do it again. I actually was saying for months now I was expecting $499 but recently I'd started to wonder if maybe they would take a hit on hardware to get a return investment on software and services but that's not happening.
Anything short of a mind blowing presentation here and this price point faces major major blow back imo

$499 is definitely a great price for that console + hardware, it just won't sell to any significant degree especially outside of the US, but then based on Phil's statements I think this was always the plan.

The cheaper PS3 was heavily gimped in comparison. Smaller HDD, no BC, fewer ports...One thing I never understood was why there was such a backlash with Sony announcing the PS3 at $599, but always forgetting to mention that there was a $499 model at launch as well.
However, when mentioning the price of the 360, they quote the $299 for the core model instead of $399.
Look at the those prices at the launch of the previous gen, I think 499 for the Scorpio is reasonable for what you'll be getting, it doesn't mean it'll sell well though

1080p peeps also see huge benefits... especially if you have a freesync monitor. or any future TV that supports the new HDMI spec.
No they haven't.
The corporate cheerleaders and the rabbid fanboys running around Twitter with that pathetic Scorpio icon have.
Microsoft have always said this would be a premium product.

I'm more curious as to why he would "leak" the "price" when we're 5 hours away from the conference. Seems weird...
