Life is Strange: Before the Storm (3 Episodes Prequel) Announced (by Idol Minds)

I and a lot of my friends who were big fans had a lot of issues with episodes 4+5, so... I am tentatively into this, particularly with another dev team doing this while the original team makes 2, but since however this ends is gonna tie into the stuff from those episodes...

I just hope they handle this well.

Excited for more Life is Strange but trailer looked underwhelming, looks exactly the same as LiS 1, no upgrades. Also, please don't have Chloe or Rachel have super natural powers like Max's :-/

Yeah, I'll eat some crow.
Let's be honest. If you bought Life Is Strange, you're buying this.
Hell, like 6 of my friends asked if we could preorder.

I really dislike prequels where the tale has already been told but I really liked LiS and would welcome more...

I'll wait and see how it turns out. Much more interested in a proper sequel.

Holy shit! Wonder how they'll handle it without the time travel mechanic.

?

Do you normally walk into threads for games you care so little about you have to say "fuck this title"?
It's regular practice on internet message boards

No I do not. Loved the first game and am and have been against pretty much everything this game is since it was rumored. It's a cash-in on a title on a game I very much enjoyed and am worried that said cash-in will negatively impact the upcoming sequel. I'm worried this will fuck with a game, characters, and setting that I found good, regardless of any of its shortcomings.

I do not want this game and whatever baggage that it brings with it.

If DONTNOD isn't writing this I thing I'm going to wait for a sale.

Otherwise can't wait to get back into it, I'm going to do a replay with my GF to celebrate.

Yeah the more I think about this game the more I'm extremely cautious about it. I hate to say it but when I first heard the rumor of a prequel my first thought was, "why?"

I like Chloe and Rachel's arc but it was more or less summarized perfectly fine in the first game. There was some mystery about it.

I liked the original as a concept and the base storyline but did not like a single character. If the whole point of the prequel is Chloe as a character, I'd rather skip it. No interest in this unfortunately.

Best wishes.

Kind wished I didn't see the leak on this. I can't imagine my hype if I saw that without knowing immediately what it was.

Still a great trailer and music was super on point.

Lots more details here.

-Ashly Burch writing this time, Rhianna DeVries voice acting Chloe.

-Bonus episode where you play as Max with "Deluxe Edition" set as a pre-prequel.

-Gameplay reveal Monday 12PM PST.

I suppose we'll see. My main concern is how they build in a gameplay element without the time manipulation powers (or alternatively, how do they build time manipulation powers into the narrative). Based on what we know about Chloe and Rachel's story, there isn't really a supernatural aspect to it, and we know how the story plays out. So what are we really doing in the game? Does it end up playing more like a visual novel this time out? Is it still an adventure game where the puzzles are about filling in the blanks to a story you kind of already know? Is there some way they can make this NOT the story we already know?

I'm pretty much in for this, though. I'll happily throw fifteen bucks or whatever at Square Enix to find out how this all turns out.

Bonus Episode for Deluxe Edition? Fuck off Square

I think Frank appears 1 minute and four seconds in. That looks like his neck tattoo.

No Ashly Burch? That sucks. Her performance as Chloe was a major highlight of the game.

OMG Deluxe is 25$?? Is that more expensive than Complete Season of the first game (5 episodes)? I remember it being 20$?

Why are you doing this SE??

I don't get why Chloe is being voiced by someone else. This decision baffles me.

Maybe she has to sound younger?

Possibly also that she might not have time? Perhaps the workload for consulting as a writer is lower than voicing the character again (and mocap, if the behind-the-scenes video is anything to go on?).

Reading the FAQ from the blog post now. No time manipulation confirmed (phew!), definitely not a visual novel, apparently doesn't have anything to do with events from the first game (besides the characters, of course). All of those are good signs, I think.

Actually the trailer sold me. But reading about another developer and a different voice actor for Chloe feels wrong.

Down with it, but lowered expectations. I'm more interested in the actual sequel with different characters.
