Dragon Ball FighterZ (PC/XB1/PS4, BN/ASW, UE4, early 2018, beta Sum 2017) E3 trailer

I wonder if we could get a goten+kid Trunks tag team as a single character with Gotenks as a super. ONly thing that makes me doubt it is that we're already having a 3v3 format as a default, so they'd probably want to avoid tagteam type characters

I think the problem is mostly that trunks and goten are literally worse versions of Future Trunks and Goku so ... Might as well have Gotenks permanently playable.

Filming is not allowed. I saw it confirmed on Twitter.

You what mate ?

I'm just trying to think of fighting game character gimmicks honestly, since most DBZ characters don't have a lot of gimmicks

You do realize that 17 also has that OP barrier, right?

Hes also got some weird bubble attack, but that might be anime only lol.

What I love about having characters being specialists is that you make a team with pros and cons.

You take out the Vegeta zoner and then you send 17 for close combat murder.

Please arc.

The barrier protects him but he couldn't have a lot of options from afar.

Anyway I imagine 17 with a lot of close counters and parry moves.

I imagine 17 as maybe Ibuki, with less projectiles but a real command grab.

I'd prefer Gotenks is just a straight character. Kid goten and trunks are boring anyways and Gotenks has a metric ton of moves to pull from

Ghost Kamikaze
DIE DIE MISSILE BARRAGE
Galactic Donut
Vollyball fist
and a few more

Man I forgot even Gotenks stole from the Tien well.
Dude should have got patents.
Crazy thing is though, even with all that thievery Tien still has like 80 op original super moves left. Crying shame if the most original move list beast gets left out.

You can tell they studied the anime so hard and made it look so perfect. This is the DBZ fighting game I wanted ever since I played the first one on SuFami back in the day. This is like the old arcade 2D fighter 10000x evolved.

E3 just started but this is going to be on my list of best of E3. I hope this is the game that finally put ASW on the map, they deserve some success after the low sales they are getting with guilty Gear.

So would you say they nailed down the best so far ?

Buu

Gohan

Frieza

look flawless to me. They are mind blowing.

Cell looks good but his spots texture is iffy on close ups, and he has some bulky shoulders sometimes when he shouldn't.

Vegeta has a lot of bad posing (his legs notably), and ... Goku just looks bad on a lot of frames to me outside of SSJ3 and his kicks that look great. I don't like his face and his anatomy leaves a lot to be desired compared to the good ones.

Honestly, I'm excited to see what they do with characters like Krillin, Tien, and Yamcha. Especially Tien. He has so much potential for a really unique fighting style that hasn't been tapped in any of the DBZ fighting games to be honest.

this picture represents every kid growing up, during all this years (since the anime aired), sending his/her energy to make this game happen.

I swear this was me playing Final Bout!! 😭

You can tell they studied the anime so hard and made it look so perfect.

When Goku and Frieza charged at each other, I was so blown away by Frieza's model that I fell out of my chair. This game looks like the scenes I would attempt to draw and recreate as a kid. It's magical.

Man, this is the DBZ game I've been dreaming about since the first time I played a DBZ fighting game on Sega Genesis back in 1994. HYPE!!!

Hand drawn correct?

It's not pixel art, it's actual 3D models stylized in a way that makes them pop and look like actual 2D sprites. ASW has explained how it actually works and it's nothing short of amazing. Some camera angles have the models actually look really weird and stretched if you looked at them from any other perspective. It's really amazing what they've accomplished, the style is perfect for anime games.

This might be most anticipated game on a long time. Damn near leap frogging Odessey.

This is the game I've dreamed of since playing the fighter on super famicom

ASW's method of cell shading has yet to be beat.

More than anything, they've gone in and hand-altered vector position & lighting (i.e. they've selected where the light actually shows up on polygons). That is the thing that sets ASW's cel shading apart from all other cel shaded games.

If we're discussing just the characters from the trailer...

SSJ Goku
All-rounder. He's the face of the franchise, so there's no way they're not going to have him be the easiest to pick up and play.

SSJ Vegeta

MvC Iron Man. Mid-far range character, good zoning, movement allows him some easy rushdowns, but he's susceptible to rushdowns and has no way to open up his opponent's defense outside of zoning.

SSJ2 Gohan

Pressure character. Fast, high damage close range combos.

Freeza

Mix-Up character. Hard to predict beam attacks and high low combos.

Cell

Dominating, high power with exploitable weaknesses.

Buu

A mix of trapping/Keep away.

3D but made to look as 2D as possible when the camera's not rotating. Have you not seen anything from Guilty Gear Xrd / Revelator / Rev 2 the past few years?

It's not exactly the rotation of the camera (or lack thereof) that does it outside of specific morphs and effects.

There's many times where they actually use camera rotation (like story mode , intros and whatnot) and the illusion is still there.

I like how they turned the technique Cell used to make the Cell Game ring into an attack.

Hopefully the other characters move-sets are just as creative.

Oh I know, but most of the time when people really notice the 3d models is when the camera moves around in some way.

This seems fairly plausible to me
