Dragon Ball FighterZ (PC/XB1/PS4, BN/ASW, UE4, early 2018, beta Sum 2017) E3 trailer

Made a few gifs from Gamersyde's uncompressed trailer. The vfx, sense of speed, and weight of impact cannot stop flooring me. Arc's resolve to solid art and animation design is so impressive.

I'm scared I'm going to wake up and the general consensus from gameplay is that it's all style no substance. I just. I want this to be good.

I wouldn't even care. Style is what I want from my anime fighting games, and I haven't gotten that from DBZ since the budokai/tenkaichi games. I think it clearly wont be that considering the developer, but I wouldn't really mind. I LOVE Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm gameplay and people always talk about how style over substance that is.

For real. Dragon Ball games have been weak af since Burst Limit in like 07. I haven't bought one since Raging Blast.

No interest in the Dragon Ball franchise but this game looks amazing. Hope it's easy to pick up and play and not overly complex...or that it has really good tutorials.

This isn't going to be a "too much shit all over the screen" chaotic mess like MvC is it ? Where you can barely even see the arena/stage through all the effects once a fight's actually going. The artstyle and characters look too good to get lost in 400 flashes and drive by characters running in from off screen every time someone lands a punch. Some of the gifs so far are making me feel like it's gonna be like that. I'm really looking forward to the "recreated scenes" though.

Please tell me this thread is just hype and Goku hasn't joined GG.

Looks incredible though, Budokai Tenkaichi was the last DB game I bought but I want this.

If GG Xrd is anything to go by, then the tutorials should be pretty easy to follow, and provide as much depth as you're willing to explore.

I trust ASW on this one. Even if it has half the substance/complexity of the GG series, I'm all but sold on the DBZ license and execution alone. Haven't played a good DBZ game since Tenkaichi on the PSP, but DBFZ looks to blow all predecessors out of the water.

This might be one of the best looking video games ever made...

Like I cannot believe how it looks. Anthem, Metro, Forza... all got crushed by this.

Are the other games by this developer relatively 'accessible'?

ASW is the first developer in the genre that I think of when it comes to needlessly convoluted gameplay, but idgaf I'm hyped.

God I hope so. It's the whole reason why I'm hyped lol.

Quoting 5-year-old posts

Watching a Marvel vs Capcom match is something like Dragon Ball Z. When Goku is fighting one of the main villains, they'll move around at light speed shooting powerful energy blasts everywhere, and to a casual bystander it looks like people are appearing and disappearing like magic and the earth is shaking and there's explosions in the sky and oh god what the hell is going on. But the other strong fighters will just be standing on the sidelines silently and intensely watching the match, eyes darting back and forth following it all. That's MvC. Train in it for a while and a rhyme and reason starts to emerge from all that crazy stuff. Train hard enough and you can chuck spirit bombs on fools.

Looks really good but I can't unsee all the stretchy arms in the first gif used to cheat the perspective. It's like knowing how a magic trick is done. Once you know, there's no going back to blissful ignorance.

Goku for ARMS!

I only hope 2 things:

- Single player option.
- All DBZ Story Mode.

Best DBZ fighting game ever!

Now I want a DBZ RPG that look like this one too.

So it's always 3v3. Resets to neutral after beating a character unlike MvC. Golden Frieza is an in-battle transformation. Assists like MvC. You can charge your ki as well.

I'm not gonna lie, MvCI is gonna need to really impress with its gameplay (if people can get over the superficiality of what the game isn't and play it for what it is) or I totally see Dragon Ball FighterZ taking its spot in popularity at fighting game tournaments. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a ton of crossover between Marvel players and Dragon Ball fans.

Because that gameplay demo was straight Marvel. Like 100% Marvel.
