Dragon Ball FighterZ (PC/XB1/PS4, BN/ASW, UE4, early 2018, beta Sum 2017) E3 trailer

24 is very low for 3vs3 game.

It is very good for a new game from a small company like Arcsys. That's still a massive amount of possible team combinations so it'll be fine, and updates are very likely.

It's best if they don't push themselves too much, make all the characters feel great and unique.

Oh man that definetly worries me a bit. A dedicated button to special moves AND being able to to auto-combo out of Light and Mediums? Why not just make a stylish mode at this point?

Blazblue uses the same button layout. Light / Medium / Heavy / Drive (special)

One and only thing I can criticize is that the auras seem sit behind the character rather than envelop them.

This is a good thing, really. It allow them to use more robust aura graphics. The Anime style aura really does not translate well into 3D at all.

Burst Limit got over this by completely changing how Aura looks for that game, but this is sort of the only way you can make this look so good.

Side note - I'm a masochist. I want to watch the full unabridged NON Kai versions of DBZ. Original Japanese versions preferred, but I'd be good with the US cuts. But I want the original shit. The shit that was scattered across 10484892 vhs tapes.

How can I achieve this goal, and raise my power level over 9000??

I don't think they even released the original show on VHS in japanese.

The Blu Rays have this. Just get those. They're pretty great. Have a lot of options and the quality is good.

It's all Funimation's dub though, but as far as I can tell it's the original dub/JPN tracks. There's only a couple of spots that jog my memory as they altered it or something. Like in the Gohan/Cell kamehameha struggle when Cell pushes Piccolo/Yamcha/Tien/Krillin away Gohan says "He hUrt tHeM!!!" Before getting agry which I thought was stupid. But that was about it.

Dragon Box DVD's.

They're out of print and very expensive.

The Blu Rays have this. Juat get those. They're pretty great. Have a lot of options and the quality is good.
The Blu-rays are cropped to widescreen, and I believe color "corrected." Not quite authentic, but I guess will do if you're on a budget.

I tried Kai. I can't do it. I will gladly take the long winded drawn out everything over them cutting little things I've grown to love. I watched through to the end of Freiza Saga, and I can't stand all the minor cuts they do. Yes lots of unnecessary stuff is removed, but so are a lot of minor fighting scenes. Like when Goku lands on Namek, and Jeice & Burter are attacking Goku, flying right through him it seems. But Goku is just moving faster than any of them can see. That sort of stuff is what I want back, and Kai doesn't have it.

Probably not...but I just don't want Kai. I want full length, all 250+ episodes.

is it masochistic to want the best possible dbz experience?

buy the dragon boxes :)

There is also a bad filter over top to get rid of the film grain which makes the lines look smudgy.
The best way to experience DB and Z these days is the Manga.

The complete Funimation dub can is all on Blu-ray. Here's the first season. You can choose between Japanese/American voices and Japanese/American music.

Only thing you might not like is that these releases changed the aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9, so some of the picture is cut out.

Yes! Exactly! That is what I grew up on. Those episodes are what my teenage self fell in love in, every day after school. I've got a lot of purchasing in my future...

I will have to deal with the 16:9 cut...I will gladly take a little bit of cropping that way versus having entire scenes cut out. Thanks for the link, too! I'm pretty surprised at those prices, first season bought!

Edit: Oh my dragonballs....all of the covers line up for long art piece!! That's incredible! That takes me back to my X-Men trading card days....awww yisss these are SO bought.

I would like to see the most iconic characters of the series in this game, but seeing this quality I would't mind getting some as DLC later on. I can't contain my hype, been a while since I've felt like this.

Tenkaichi 3 definitely had the largest roster.

Btw, Manga>Anime for me. Much better flow and more fun. And I say that as someone who grew up on the Anime.

As for this game, I've always been someone who's a bigger Dragon Ball Z fan than a fighting game fan, so my dream DBZ game would be some type of Open-World Action-RPG with a solid fighting battle system since I want to create my own character and forge my own path in the Dragon Ball world, gaining strength, achieving new forms, meeting colorful characters, etc.

So the Xenoverse franchise speaks to me more, but Dragonball Fighter Z does look pretty amazing for what it is. When I want to play a straight-up badass fighter, this game looks like it will fit the bill perfectly.

Yes, the Sparking games did (Japanese Tenkaichi) but they were replaced for the western releases. Despite making a great first impression, the loops were pretty short so it wasn't really ideal for that kind of game. It was pretty damn cool the first few times, though.

Interesting. Are you saying the loops were short because the original music was short to begin with, or because the developers, for whatever reason, shortened the pieces for the game?

Probably because they were short to begin with, even for a fighting game.

Needs classical db music

Just popped in some JP Freeza saga tracks in the background of the latest gameplay session: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ct-brtaD5nI

Kikuchi da gawd. Maybe I'll do a Falcouner one next lol.

What are the different types of assists we've seen so far? Vegeta has Amaterasu's Ice projectile assist. Rest are just beam assists? So much going on in the vids its hard to keep up.

When is this releasing? Will the Xbox One X version have any enhancements? I can imagine this would look incredible in HDR and 4K.

Goku - Kamehameha horizontal beam
Frieza - Seismo explosion
Vegeta - Cold Star
Gohan - Dragon Punch

Not too sure about these two:
Cell - Diagonal downwards Kamehameha
Buu - Small self explosion

Goku/Vegeta/Gohan team looking like some Dr.Doom/Amaterasu/Cyclops shit. You got your beam assist for getting in, cold star for lockdown, and dragon punch for 'get off me's. Top tier saiyans baby. Get ready for the saiyan army online

Marvel is definitely no longer gonna be synonymous with this sorta team building stuff. Demo was fun but its a completely different title now. DBFZ is most definitely the true sequel to the Marvel gameplay with all its additions from the stuff in MVC2/3. I think they can coexist because of how different there gameplays are but Marvel definitely just passed its audience that preferred that game style to ASW. Dragonball is a fuggin monster out there.

I highly recommend this. It's great. I wish they would have allowed you to choose between 4:3 and widescreen though. I hope future blurays give me that option. I've gotten used to the widescreen, but I'd like to see the original uncut version too.

Interesting. Are you saying the loops were short because the original music was short to begin with, or because the developers, for whatever reason, shortened the pieces for the game?

A bit of both. The original tracks weren't really paced to be played uninterrumpted in a fighting game (with some exceptions) but those versions were 40-ish second tracks replayed until the end of the match. Heck, IIRC it wasn't even properly looped, the music would stop for a couple of seconds at the end and then start from the beginning.

Would you like another breathtaking gameplay session on Dragon Ball FighterZ?

Guys, don't make the same mistake I did and go to the Xenoverse 2 Gamefaqs board.

Definitely don't click the link I just posted if you know what's good for you.

lol

"Watch this trailer, can you honestly tell me DBFZ looks better? Honestly?"

Buddy yes Xenoverse looks like ass, I'll take "better" for $100 🙋
