I know the characters all have a teleport but that's the thing, Goku should have been able to take it a notch above.

It's a bit disappointing.

Goku has instant transmission built into his Kamehameha Super.

With simple commands like this, I just expect there to be greater variety between different strengths. But having a large set of shared commands in a game that ask a person to play 3 characters per round isn't bad.

I prefer having DPs, but for a "new" series like this, I don't as much mind them not having it. It's the established series that try and pretend they don't exist, on characters that have traditionally had them, that bug me the most.

Don't be worried. It's not surprising that the movesets are fairly simple, but it's still a 3v3 game, the real depth comes from team composition in those.

I'm personally really concerned about the auto combos from lights and mediums, as well as the dragon dash that doesn't seem to be tied to any ressources and allows them to continue combos on top of dashing at the enemy from anywhere (which you can combine with a 1 bar teleport)....

On it's own, no I don't think so either.

But I don't expect a Dragon Ball game to be as complex as GG, and I think that's fine. Persona also had smaller movelists too and I think it still turned out fine, so I'm not worried here.

Despite how well this game captures the visual style of the anime, it simply isn't as faithful to the anime as other games, by virtue of its 2D gameplay mechanics.

Xenoverse's gameplay is faithful to the DBZ anime. DBFZ's gameplay is faithful to the FGC. And as we know, games that cater to the FGC have been pretty niche.
