Dragon Ball FighterZ (PC/XB1/PS4, BN/ASW, UE4, early 2018, beta Sum 2017) E3 trailer

There is also a bad filter over top to get rid of the film grain which makes the lines look smudgy.
The best way to experience DB and Z these days is the Manga.
Bolded is correct.

Guys, don't make the same mistake I did and go to the Xenoverse 2 Gamefaqs board.

Definitely don't click the link I just posted if you know what's good for you.
I can't do it. I used to be a part of the old Budokai 3 community on the official Atari boards, and it was full of people like this. I'm having nightmarish flashbacks.

The shit that XV fans say.

The funny thing is, I actually like the Xenoverse games.

But I also like competitive fighters.

I guess I don't see why these can't coexist. It's not even by the same development team, so Xenoverse fans can't even make the "wasted resources" argument.

They should both coexist. Both will be fun for different reasons.

I put like 200 hours into Xenoverse 2. It probably was my most played game of 2016, more than Dota 2 or SFV.
But yeah, it's a no contest vs a true fighter

Side note - I'm a masochist. I want to watch the full unabridged NON Kai versions of DBZ. Original Japanese versions preferred, but I'd be good with the US cuts. But I want the original shit. The shit that was scattered across 10484892 vhs tapes.

How can I achieve this goal, and raise my power level over 9000??

If you do the north american versions, try the Ocean Dub version until the Ginyu fights start and then switch to Funi. Ocean Dub saiyan saga and part of namek were really charming and had some great stuff (actually, the most famous over 9000 take, the one you're likely thinking of in your head, is from that dub). That's how it aired here, Ocean up until I think just after Goku gets to Namek. Plus Ocean had a fantastic Piccolo VA.

ASW has seemed to really embody the look and feel of the anime with this game.

Also.....LR Gohan looks so legit in this game. They captured his SSJ2 form perfectly.

Yep, DBZ lends itself well to both straight-up competitive fighting and also Action-RPG. I'm going to enjoy both games depending on what mood I'm in.

I re-watched the Ocean dub a few years ago via the "Rock The Dragon Edition" box set, and it really struck me how Ocean gave the show a very badass vibe (the voice acting and music), but the dialogue was so childish and cheesy. Plus they cut out any references to death; with the worst instances being when a number of civilians are killed and one of the characters says something like "Well I'm glad those people all evacuated first!" or "I can see their parachutes! They're OK!"

If Ocean could have done those episodes fully uncut, they would have been pretty awesome. But again, I do love the badass voice acting and epic music of the Ocean dub.

The "Rock The Dragon Edition" has all 53 Ocean episodes, plus the three Ocean dubbed movies. But it seems to be unavailable on Amazon at least, so you'd have to do some searching to find it. It's on eBay though.

Marvel is definitely no longer gonna be synonymous with this sorta team building stuff. Demo was fun but its a completely different title now. DBFZ is most definitely the true sequel to the Marvel gameplay with all its additions from the stuff in MVC2/3. I think they can coexist because of how different there gameplays are but Marvel definitely just passed its audience that preferred that game style to ASW. Dragonball is a fuggin monster out there.

The final nail in the coffin to ensure I never touch Marvel never again would be
if X-Men characters and Doom were added to this lol.

Funnily enough, Goku and Vegeta are the ones who look a bit off and flat. The others, especially Cell and Freeza, look just like the manga/anime, it's amazing.

Vegeta is mostly ok.

Goku is extremely underwhelming, especially his intro that is the worst.

Compared to GODhan where you can't stop staring at the screen for 3 hours each time you see his win pose or intro.

I want playable Videl, Chi Chi, and Bulma. Give Bulma a robot or something, I don't care. Just make it happen.

Chi Chi was fun in Super Dragon Ball, "BANANNA FANNNN!" and flying about with Nimbus. This time, I'd rather see Bulma, either with a Power suit of some sort, or using a bunch of Capsules + Assistance from Kid Trunks for the more arena-destroying stuff. (Toss in a color that makes her look like Lucca from Chrono Trigger while we're at it.)

I do hope we get a few characters that let ASW really be creative.

So what are we expecting? Music from the OG anime or original music?

You can hear some of the music in the NicoNico stream footage. I'm just glad it doesn't sound overly guitar heavy; I wouldn't be surprised if some of it had roots in the music styles from the old Butoden games, since they seem an obvious inspiration. Might be worth looking up...

I wanted a Naruto fighting game :(

This looks really good though
A legit Naruto fighting game would be amazing

Kakashi would be an instant main.

Why do people seriously want to waste roster spots on blue-haired Goku and Vegeta?
Hopefully that it's for Goku and Vegeta. Personally, would prefer it not to go past 2 versions. Teen Gohan and Ultimate Gohan both being in to me is good example.

Piccolo is a lock. VJump this month is promising some scoop on the game... it should leak this weekend, or at least by Monday.

I know I was being hopeful, but I'm bummed that this wasn't added to the PS Store for pre-order today. I would've loved to use it as part of the spend $100 get $15 back promo :/

Anyway, you guys got me thirsty to hear this game's music. Could and probably will be amazing.

It's not a waste of a spot, they will take far less time to make than any other character. They either show up, or the game will have two less characters than if they were there.

And since this is Arcsys, I'm confident that they will make them unique enough to be worth adding, so I don't mind.
