How is 17 similar to 18, besides looking like her ? Because they do not fight the same way at all, and 18 hasn't showcased a SINGLE thing her brother did. So it's assumption by the fans that she can do what 17 can, but that was never shown nor said.

Can you name a single move he did in the show outside of body change ? Or do you have to look at games that basically had to invent his moveset ? In the manga, Ginyu kinda was your typical "hit strong ki blast" dude, the only thing that made him special was the body change.

Dawg, I'm not even trash talking you I'm being serious lol. I really do think your love for 17 is blinding you about his chances on the roster. If it's a smaller roster then 17, someone who's only had 1 major fight, doesn't have high chances compared to other characters. That's just a fact. Out of the 2, 18 and 17, an 18 will get in the game before him.

Compared to a Captain Ginyu, Ginyu would have a higher chance. He's a more unique looking villain compared to 17 but the major thing he has that 17 doesn't have is that he's sort of a comedy villain to a degree. Notice how no villain on my character prediction list falls in that role. Given this is ASW and some of their characters are comedy related, you can assume that at least 1 or 2 characters will be. You have a Hercule filling in that spot on the heroes side while Ginyu can be a mix of a comedy/serious villain on the other side. What about 17's personality compared to Ginyu's gives him a better shot in this game? What about their playstyles? What about their looks? Overall Ginyu just looks to be better for that.

Besides that, Ginyu was actually in Extreme Butoden, the previous ASW DB game, while 17 wasn't, 18 was though. Ginyu's always getting his shine on.

I mean it seems pretty high that he'll be in the game compared to a 17 if the roster is small. The smaller roster portion is the issue. If this were a larger roster, we wouldn't even be talking about this.

It kept getting better at a steady pace. The Black arc had... really insane highs and some really dreadful lows, but I guess the heights could be seen as proof of their efforts.

After that we got some really fun "slice of life" episodes, and now we're in the universal tournament arc, where all the characters matter, and it's not just the Goku show. So that's pretty great, the character development, and the art has been on point, they revamped how the show looked. It's all coming together well. Only issue is that they refuse to explain "power levels" and just roll with whatever they think is cool, which is fine, it's for fun, and it definitely is.

Yeah when I was watching the show this annoyed me to no end. I loved how it was handled in DBZ. Shame that they did not change this.

17 is a high speed low damage character that doesn't rely on ki blasts, and has counter/parry on top of command grabs, and has his protective shield, they had no issue making him unique in the games where he is playable, why would it be a problem here ?

But on the other hand, you have so many cool characters coming back, and not being irrelevant because they're not "goku or vegeta".

Buu has an unblockable normal and a long range air normal? Vegeta and Cell seem to have a divekick. Vegeta is rushdwon, Frieza is ranged, and has an unblockable special, and his on-the-ground super just needs holding of RT. On that note, supers have their own buttons too.

It got better after the tournament with Hit? Last I remember was the king of all. I was really hating Super at that point and dropped it.

The heroes in DB games are always easy to figure out as to who will be in a game. It's like they always use the same exact ones in each title that's one reason why people say Vegetto, Ultimate Gohan and etc are probably in the game. In the DB titles with small rosters, these characters always fall in line. 17 just isn't one of those characters though. Mind you 17 wasn't even in Super Butouden 1 of all games way back in the day. You're not understanding why he's potentially not in the game compared to characters like Vegetto simply because I think your love of 17 is allowing you to not see this. He's great but he's not put on this pedestal. He's never in these DB games with a smaller roster, he's only had 1 major fight, he's very similar to 18 and she's always in and he's not because they gotta get the more popular Android in. It's for a reason bruh.

Either way, 17's attitude and style is just too similar to many other characters. His attitude and style's already done by 18 in Z. Ginyu's far more different from a personality standpoint. You haven't really given me a reason why you think 17 is in the game so I called out all the reasons why he wouldn't be. The "only 1 major battle" comment is one of them. He doesn't have any major plot battles that can be used to his advantage to be in the game. The only reason it seems you want him in the game is for your love of him and because it's a "3v3" game but that goes behind gameplay, look, uniqueness and how important certain characters are.

The only flaw of the Ocean Dub for me is the dialog. I love the music and voice acting. The OST gives the show a really epic mystical vibe. I've just recently started ripping my Rock the Dragon Edition DVDs, and had forgot how much I enjoyed this stuff. It's the only way I watch the Saiyan Saga + Namek up to Ginyu!

I'd love if someone could mod the Shuki Levy OST into DragonBall FighterZ LOL.

It kept making baby steps, eventually got really really good. Both in terms of characters, stories, and art.

The show's "revival" was episode 77, before that there was one last arc, with Future Trunks. I personally thought it started insanely well, but was a load of horseshit in the end. A lot of people loved this arc though, so give it a shot.

After the trunks arc they had a lot of slice of life episodes, that were gold. Including a baseball episode. That's cult.

The new arc isn't "perfect" but it is great. The art direction, the character development... Feels like a mix of Dragon Ball and DBZ.
 
If we divide things up by arc, we can see that we actually have room for a decent amount of representation on the villains' side:

Saiyan Arc
Raditz (likely to get cut)
Nappa (flip of a coin on this one)
Vegeta

Namek Arc
Ginyu (also a coin-flip)
Freeza

Android Arc
16 (most likely to get cut IMO)
17 (coin-flip)
18
(19 & 20 are never making it in - they're not even in XV2, they're not gonna be in DBF)

Cell Arc
Perfect Cell and only Perfect Cell (sorry, not enough people care for his imperfect or semiperfect forms)

Buu Arc
Fat Buu
Super Buu
Kid Buu (either Kid Buu or Super Buu will probably not make the cut)

Which just leaves the Z-fighters themselves. I strongly doubt they'd bother giving them variations for each arc - Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta are clearly using their Cell saga variations, and at most I'd expect maybe an adult form for Gohan (using Potential Unleashed) and a SSB form for Goku and Vegeta. That still leaves a significant chunk of the cast unaccounted for, assuming 20ish characters in the final game (excluding DLC ofc).

I expect Beerus is a shoo-in. So is Piccolo. Krillin is too important to cut. Future Trunks is super-popular. Tien is a coin-flip. Yamcha is unlikely (sorry, buddy, but the way Super has treated you has made it absolutely clear where they stand on this). Chiaotzu isn't even in XV2, you can forget about him. Goten and Trunks could be in... but if they are, it's probably as Gotenks. Vegetto/Vegerot is a definite shoo-in.

I'm going to completely discount movie characters because the roster is likely to be tightly focused for the initial release, and judging by the Z on the logo, mostly tightly focused on Z fighters.

In light of these considerations, my guess for the final roster looks like this:

Goku (Cell Saga)
SSB Goku (Resurrection of F)
Vegeta (Cell Saga)
SSB Vegeta (Resurrection of F)
Gohan (Cell Saga)
Ultimate Gohan (Buu Saga)

Same, I only caught the last few minutes. The Namco FB page said they'd be talking about the game on some streams but they only bothered to mention a couple of minutes before they went live on Twitch at 2PM. I was able to hear one part where I think the developer talked about how these characters don't fight with weapons, then the interviewed questioned her about Trunks. Her response was interesting.

Over now unfortunately, they talked for around 10-15 minutes about the game but I only caught the last couple of minutes. Hopefully someone will upload it to YouTube.
