Dragon Ball FighterZ (PC/XB1/PS4, BN/ASW, UE4, early 2018, beta Sum 2017) E3 trailer

I wonder if that's the approach they will take with it though.
It works great for GG, since it doesn't have an anime or anything so it gives us a way to watch its world, but Dragon Ball already has that covered. If they go for their own new storyline it could still work, but who knows.
They went with that for Xrd because they thought forcing fights might get in the way of the story, Dragon Ball story is basically fight after fight, no way they wont let us play through them.

Gohan looks so cool in this game.

What was great about butoden 2 is that it had some really hard fights, and if you lost the story would change.

Some characters would get killed off permanently and stuff.

Sick.

Here I'd like something for the "teams".

And a mode where you can unlock new colors maybe, that'd be cool. But you can already select manga color... you need to lock that away since we won't get costumes :D . Work for it !

Yup, that does sound cool. Considering Super Saiyan itself is a form brought out by a character death, seeing what would happen the characters due to surprise deaths would be great in this universe.

I wonder if we'll have art or online lobby unlocks in this game, too? ASW games have had a bunch of icons and announcer voice stuff in their games lately... just a lot of it has been locked behind money, not in-game stuff...

I think it will be like Dragon Ball Fusions.

There will be a special what if tournament bringing the strongest warriors from any time period.

It will be team based.

That'd be cool.

It's really MVC2/Xrd.

Much more simple than Xrd tho. Magic series works for all characters. Crazy with assists, happy birthdays, command overheads, many ways to open ppl up.
Sounds good, and kinda what I was expecting. I didn't think they'd make a Dragon Ball game was complex as Xrd but I did have some fear it would go too far in the other direction like most Dragon Ball games.
Seems like it has plenty of depth.

Also MvC and Xrd combined sounds like the hypest shit.

I mean, the fact that it has tag, assists and tons of options + overall speed of the game kind of makes it complex in his own right.

It's the execution that is certainly a lot of easier than Xrd. Which is fine considering which type of game it is.

I'm pretty sure Super Buu will be in. He'll probably have a Kid Buu transformation where he's faster and harder to hit or something.

Long fights that were implemented just to say "The character fought!" do feel weird to me, yeah. But as natural points to a tale (like the hero fighting their main nemesis)... I'd love to at least get a few of those. If anything, I wish they'd make it optional.

I'll totally give GG's story more chances as time goes on (because I do see there's a lot of stuff I'd like to see in it that I'm in the dark about), but years of going through other slow, Aksys-translated stories really just left a long-lasting bad taste in my mouth.

Maybe with DBZ here I'll just be able to hit the ground running and enjoy it all from the start. You generally don't have to worry about profuse swearing and overly edgy stuff in DBZ, and the Funi voice talent / Japanese Seiyuu know their characters so well at this point, that every story they weave is fun in some way.

I just realized I should have just said Rev in my post, not Rev 2, I'm so used to typing the new game out, haha.

Anyways, I think the approach the GG team wanted to take with it's story mode was, since the series getting an anime is unlikely and they couldn't guarantee its quality if it did that it would be best to just do it themselves. So it's probably best if you separate it from the gameplay if you want to watch it, in a way GG's story mode is the show that the fighting game is based off of. They still pack in things to do for single player, it has the typical arcade mode that has story that leads into story mode and some other things to play.

I think it's a cool idea personally, but it's a very different approach and I can understand if someone just wants to fight when they turn on a fighting game. Honestly, I have a feeling that DBF is likely to have gameplay in its story mode, but I have nothing to base it off of. I might be most hyped for the gameplay at the moment, but as a fan I'm curious to see how they approach this side of the game.

Yeah I definitely think execution for the sake of added complexity is unnecessary. While it does have it's place in games like Xrd there are plenty of other ways to give a game depth.

It would be pretty mean to have all the DB fans need to Jump Install to pull off good teleport combos, hahaha.
I wonder who will be fast and versatile like Chipp.

I would really like to play Krillin, so please give me this Arcsys?

Makes me wonder. If the devs said that they showed the 6 characters because they are "most standard and have the most orthodox moves", I wonder how other potential characters will play.

This is gonna be damn interesting.

Red or Green apples, still an apple in this case, lol. I was wondering which, but not too big a deal.

Yeah, I did play though some of the arcade stories to try and get into the mood to play "the real thing", but that ambition started and ended there.

I do hope there's some play in DBZ story, considering how much older games set the expectation for it. Just adding SOME gameplay to the lengthy on-disk OVA style they've had before would suck me into that work so much more. And it feels really weird that I've found Injustice and MK's stories more appealing, and completed more of them, than ASW's ones, lol.

Who's the Frieza equivalent (long range/keepaway seemingly?) in Guilty Gear Xrd so I can start learning them now.
Well, Axl is the main zoner of the game.

Venom and Dizzy have keep away tools too, but they can rushdown too, well it's GG so everyone can rushdown. They are also pretty complicated. Ky likes the midrange and is fairly straightforward.

But really, none of those look similar to Frieza. Playing GG to learn for this game isn't going to work, since the mechanics are so different and characters are being designed to feel more like they act in the series than to be similar to past Arcsys games. So I'd say just find someone you like in GG and enjoy the game.
Maybe I've overlooked but I'm waiting for some GG/BB decent to pro players that got to play this got to say about it.

I just want Broly to be a fast ass Tager and I wont ever need to switch out.

Koogy is the only GG player I've seen who has played it, he liked it.

I don't complete many Arcsys stories either, haha(or fighting game stories in general). It's really only GG's world that has sucked me in enough to want to keep seeing more of it.

Piccolo is gonna be floppin his arms all over.

I sweat to god if they picked Raditz to make it in again...........

Yep I'm expecting that lol. Dhalsim arms, mouth beams, getting limbs damaged and regenerating. Piccolo is gonna be wild in this game you already know lol.

I think we're good on Raditz. I think they'd be out of their mind if they put him in the game. Dude won't make the cut lol.

That doesn't make sense for Fat Buu, he's one of the weirdest fighters in the series, they put him there cause he's part of the Big 3 villains.

But he seems straight forward from what we've seen of him in this game, and that's why they chose him for this demo evidently. We have to see how different the rest of the cast is.
