Dragon Ball FighterZ (PC/XB1/PS4, BN/ASW, UE4, early 2018, beta Sum 2017) E3 trailer

Okay, I need some DB anime advice...

Seen all of DBZ even going back to the crappy VHS tapes back in the day. I've seen Kai. I know it doesn't matter, but I got through about half of GT before I gave up. I watched Battle of the Gods and thought it was terrible. Didn't bother with Resurrection F and haven't bothered with Super.

Where should I pick up Super to get what I need and continue watching? I've heard the first couple of arcs in Super are just Battle of the Gods and Resurrection F. Would it be better to just watch Resurrection F and skip the first two arcs of Super?

Basically, when does Super get good?

Watch RoF and start super at episode 28.

I wouldn't say it's good right there but it makes slow progress and ends up being really good.

Despite the bad I recommend watching it all from episode 28. It's fire currently.

It looks great but can anyone tell me if it's fun too. Wanna see some impressions and hopefully not some blinded by DBZ hype like I would make lol

This game is hitting all the right notes. Evo 2018 is going to be so lit.

Watch Resurrection F the movie. Whether you like it or not it will look significantly better than the Super version. Then start watching Super from episode 28 onwards.

Thank you both!

I kind of watched Goku blacks arc on and off and only really started watching it now with the universal tournament arc and I'm loving it! About episode 77. Keep in mind that I'm a Gohan stan and usually don't enjoy the show when they're treating him like dirt, like they used to, so that's why I'm really enjoying it now.

Man fucking Evo 2K18 is going to be so fucking hype. Like we're literally going to be watching our childhood as a fighting game on a huge ass stage...on ES-FUCKING-PN

DAWG!!

Whether Super gets good at all is a pretty subjective thing lol

I don't think it holds a candle to the original story, but I enjoy watching it every week.

Episode 28 is the start of the saga after the retellings of the two movies. Personally, I'd just watch Resurrection F then episode 28. There are a couple of tweaks they made in the Super episodes for the retelling of the movie, but if you didn't like BoG, it's probably not worth it to actually watch aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllll of those episodes. The movie is fine.

thats a bit of an assumption isnt it?
Or have we already decided this is evo material and espn will cover it?

where are the detailed impressions from experienced players?

This game looks like I remember those old SNES DBZ fighters. Or at least how I always wanted them to look.

The supers look insane! I always wanted to get into something like Xenoverse, but it just didn't click with me. I don't like this 3D arena based fighting.

So this game is really a dream come true. I haven't seen anything about fighter count. Did they announce anything?

Its already pretty obvious that this gonna be at EVO

im sorry if its "obvious", but what would get this in over Guilty Gear? the donation drive choice?
ESPN covered SFV afaik, but not the side events unless I missed that

We may not see DBZ on ESPN. Depends on how the TV licensing for the game works. If ESPN has to go through Namco Bandai AND Funimation, that could be too much. I'm not familiar with how strict Funimation is with this kind of stuff.

I started back around the RoF retelling but I agree with all of this.

I actually really haven't seen impressions at all really :(

Most impressions are hype. FGCers who don't know much about DB want to play the game and are mega-hyped for it. It's crazy how much love it's getting. I haven't seen a DBZ game this hyped in at least since the early-mid 2000s.

I just watched Max's E3 booth footage and I feel like so far the characters are too samey. For example I don't feel like if you play Vegeta you have a different gameplan than if you play Cell. In Guilty Gear every character is incredibly different with often their own gimmick UI. I hope the unannounced characters are more unique, like a dhalsim piccolo, a broly grappler, babidi summoner, etc. The assists are pretty unique though, like Vegeta's lockdown ki barrage thing.

It kind of sickens me that they got virtually everything perfect and yet Goku's intro looks like ass. (yes still ranting about this)

I know right, his arms are all off and stubby on an all front pose.

Don't know about ESPN but for EVO, I'm 99% sure it'll be there in 2018. Impressions from everyone (Casuals and Fighting Game players) who have seen or played the game have been pretty much 100% positive as far as I'm aware.

This looks incredible. I really do not like the turn from MVC1/2's artsyle, and especially away from 3's in MVCI. The animations do not seem as polished as SFV's either.

So I'm skipping MVCI and just gonna buy this day one. SFV will remain my 1v1 fighter but this will replace MVCI for me, especially after today where Capcom's SFV announcement was a few skins with no release date.

They said the characters in this demo are in this demo because this reason, because they're the most orthodox characters in the cast

Anyway; https://twitter.com/koogyplz/with_replies

This twitter has a lot of good info on how character play. Freeza seems to be more of a zoner, Vegeta rushdown and everyone else somewhere in between.

I don't know you can be orthodox and be more unique than that IMO. It felt like everyone is doing the same combos. Vegeta didn't feel any more rushdown than any other characters so far to me, except I'd guess Freeza.

Bruh the game was just revealed so people are doing basic things man. Like it makes sense if this was months after release but people haven't had much time with the game. Don't expect high level play so soon.

The wait is going to be torturous. At least it's not like other ASW games where we have to suffer knowing Japanese players get to play this in arcades month before we can.

As far as ESPN is concerned, Funimation probably wouldn't be so much a problem, as Chris Sabat and his crew are pretty chill when it usually comes to fan things. It's TOEI I'd worry more about. Those guys can be quite picky and petty when they want to be.

It's not just the combos. Even low level GG play or Blazblue the characters are so different it's pretty impossible to play the same :p. Anyhow I just hope the unannounced characters are more unique than we we've seen.

Bro I'm just telling you why they picked these characters for the demo. They're the most straight forward and accessible, meaning the other characters might have a bit more flavor in play styles.

Of course that said, dragon ball z as a series has always had a problem with variety.

Buu Frieza and Cell are nothing alike.

The saiyans are similar for a reason. You shouldn't worry about the rest. :)

All I can say is wait and see. The game can change a lot and probably why they are having a beta. They're not putting this in arcade like GG and testing. Even though GG has many years of revisions and history. These guys know what they are doing and if they truly with to make a competitive fighter, I guess we will see in due time. There's months of work ahead or even a year. Go knows
