Thought it be helpful for some of the newer players

Have they said anything about sharing creation pools between PC/PS4?

Seemed like best case scenario was always early access -> fans create a bunch of wrestlers -> PS4 release/Final PC release with everyone you want already created

I'll double dip regardless but it would be a shame if PS4 starts off at a disadvantage

They can't ship the PS4 game with create-a-wrestlers as most of them are going to be based on people they aren't licensed to represent.

Best case (albeit highly unlikely) scenario is that PS4 has online sharing. I really really doubt Spike Chunsoft has the resources and knowhow to build and host something like that on PSN.

I knew that, I was solely asking about online sharing. Sucks if it's not the case, but stoked regardless

$19.99 was at the upper end of what I was expecting for Early Access, probably means it'll be $24.99 when it leaves it which is what I considered the max the game could sell for to the masses. Still day one.

Well, the PC version is using Steam's Workshop so there won't be any cross-platform saves or anything but I'm sure someone will create a conversion tool to make it easy to move wrestlers from the Steam version to PS4.

Hopefully wrestlers will be saved to files that bundle everyone under the promotion they're in if not individually for each one, the latter could get messy.

Did you guys saw the newest Dev blog about Create a Wrestler?
It is amazing.

Yup, great improvements there.

Oh fuck yeah! I've been patiently waiting. Time to buy!

I'm wondering how long it will take the community to start producing workshop content.

They should really find a way to allow people to upload/download larger packs. Downloading wrestler by wrestler would be extremely tedious.

was hoping it'd be on xbox, but I'll go with the pc version. Loved both the ps2 and gba versions though I never got the timing down for grapples. I'm more of a masher.

Given that it uses Steam Workshop, you should be able to make and subscribe to Collections, I think. Or at the very least, it would keep related CAWs easily organized and accessible.

EDIT: I checked, and the Collections for Trackmania2 (another game that supports Steam Workshop) indeed has a "Subscribe to All" button for each collection, along with quick-subscribe buttons for each mod in a collection list. So indeed, it will be quite easy to subscribe to entire swathes of wrestlers, so long as the community makes collections for them.

I always hear about the amazing customization for Fire Pro games, but how is the gameplay?

Best in class. Eveything is based on timing. Its been a while since I got into the minutiae but the basics are when two wrestlers physically walk into each other it triggers a grappling animation, you have to time a button press after they rear back and lock up, whoever enters the command first, wins the grapple. However I think this can vary as a weak move is more likely to work on a strong opponent and will beat out a strong attack selection as a button press from the opponent(citation needed). Depending on your wrestler's stamina this can also have an effect.

So the basic strategy is to wear down your opponent with strikes and weak grapples to guarantee medium grapples work, and then you move on to heavy grapples. All grapples are the same, the button combinations are what selects the strength of the moves. Limb health is in full effect, so you can weaken body parts to make people submit more easily. You also have to manage your breathing by holding a button now and then, if you do too many big moves you get winded ultimately resulting in being unable to move, just standing still until you regain your composure. This makes you a sitting duck for big strikes or off the rope attacks.

So you keep track of all this stuff from visual tells and actually working a match like someone would in a real life, but treated like a simulation of the art of wrestling. It's really quite amazing how in depth this series has been even since its inception.

And that's just a raw gameplay explanation, the AI system is masterful, essentially you can end up creating/downloading custom wresters that act exactly like their real life counterparts. What would CM Punk do in this situation? He does it. That's why people have so much fun watching simulation matches, it's actually a joy to just sit down and watch a match because when the AI is programmed well it looks like a real match! It's amazing.

So hyped! I wanna double down on this one & the PS4 version but idk if my laptop will run it :(

These are the min specs

But I bet that i5 is still overkill.

Most likely hahaha. Thanks though! I'll end up getting the PS4 version, hope it doesn't release too far off

Can't wait. My first experience with the series is seeing it in a game magazine in the 90's and it had WCW and WWF guys in it. I than went to some hole in the wall video game store in Manhattan (RIP) and picked up Fire Pro Wrestling G on the PS1. I was confused at first with the menus but it didn't bother me at all because the game was awesome. Fun times being a kid and discovering gems like this.

The CAW looks very deep and user friendly, unlike the Smackdown games which take massive amounts of time to create an accurate wrestler with a complete entrance and move set. No Mercy was great in this regard too. I made the BEST CAWS for that game and would crank em out in about 30 - 40 mins.

I've never played one of these games but always heard great things about it. I imagine the mod scene is going to be crazy for the PC version...

New devblog outlining the online modes available at launch.

As host, you can set the number of participants, the opponent to either CPU or human, playstyle ("Pro Wrestling" if you want to work an entertaining match, "Cement" if winning is the only thing that matters), game mode, match rules (deathmatch, MMA etc.) and connection speed. For VS human matches you can set the desired skill level of your opponent ("Skill Level" is self-evaluated, be honest!) and for VS CPU matches you can set the upper-limit on edit points to keep wrestlers evenly-matched.

Having a separate mode for people looking to put on entertaining matches versus competitive play is great.

Single 1-v-1 matches will be available at launch while CPU-vs-CPU simmed matches will support up to 4 wrestlers. We plan to increase the number of available participants during Early Access.

Hopefully they increase the number of wrestlers soon.
