Dragon Ball FighterZ - Characters, Specials, and Stages Discussion

Even more so since BlazBlue (the game that DBFZ will likely replace next year) is gonna be on the main stage on Sunday.

Well, Tekken finishes on Sunday, too. So, it probably works out that Bamco and Arc get to mutually advertise their next upcoming game on that same day, if it works out that way.

I never thought about that. I do wonder if they will do some ultimate move for all team members come in. Like Astrals in Blazblue.

I'd hope. If I were to guess, they'd have special ones for specific teams and do a generic one for the other dream teams. Kinda like some of the tag modes in Naruto games.

That is if they'd do something like that. What I do think they're gonna do is give Goku a thing like Dragon Install where he goes SSG and then he'd go SSB for his super.

Goku doesn't need to go SSG first to go SSB. It'd make more sense to go SSB then use Kaio-Ken for the super (like what happened against Hit).

I need to enter this Beta, father/son kamehameha Was beautiful

(Why select blue clothes in a blue planet to show the game, real Genius gamespot)

Seems weird that Krillin and Piccolo don't even try to stop Nappa from killing innocents and why doesn't Goku just come back to Earth where his body is when he was wished back? All the other characters from Dragon Ball instantly came back, but Goku has to travel through Other World first. It doesn't make sense to me.

Goku kept his body when he went to Otherworld. Goku's body is shown disappearing right after the Raditz battle.

Krillin and Piccolo can't exactly do anything to Nappa.

This, plus you gotta remember...although Goku and these guys are willing to fight for the sake of their friends, loved ones and their home, they're not superheroes, like the Avengers, who are going to rush in and try to save innocents at the first sign of trouble. That's not what they do, for the most part. Hell, at that point in time, Piccolo was still technically a villain. Why would he care that humans were getting wiped out when, ideally, that was what he was originally planning to do HIMSELF, once he and Goku's mutual enemies were taken care of?

Even Kururin was willing to stand by and let Freeza and his goons wipe out Dende and his village, if Gohan didn't have other ideas.

For that matter, Gohan pretty much is the closest thing the Dragon Ball world (or at least Universe 7) has to someone who fits that "superhero" mold.

I was randomly thinking about this the other day,

If Frieza can blow up planets from space, why did he bother landing on the surface of Earth, allowing himself to get owned by Trunks?

He said it himself. He wanted the satisfaction of personally seeing everybody on the planet killed, which inevitably would have meant everybody that mattered to the Super Saiyan.

THEN he would have probably blown it up, after defeating Goku.

He was planning on kill everyone in the planet before goku landed. Even his father stated so when he wanted to destroy earth and Trunk with that death ball attack.

Gotta show off those new Mecha powers.

Why do that when you can torment your enemies

Frieza is sadistic

And that is the bottom line when it comes to his character. Alot of his fights involves him torturing his opponents slowly through both physical and psychological means, chipping away at them until he gets bored and finally goes in for the kill.

Yea that combo is pretty sick. Oh btw guys are there 2 ultimates or just one?

Character dependent. Of the six so far, Freeza and Gohan have multiple. Freeza has Golden Freeza, Nova Strike where he bulks up and tackles, and You Should Be Killed By Me (the one where he fires a beam upward on wake up, a reference to him firing at Goku when he was just a floating torso). Gohan is a bit of a stretch but he has the Father Son Kamehame for 3 meter already but it has a stronger version with Goku's "Now's your chance!!" animation in it if you do it with 2 additional meter.

Freeza's three Level 3s
Gohan Level 5

Anime Expo is this weekend right? Bamco will be there so I guess it's feasible to expect an announcement? Or at least Trunks' trailer.
I'm getting Alex trailer flashbacks...

If we get Trunks' trailer this weekend and potentially a new character reveal at EVO.... hhnnnnngggGGGGGGGG

I wish ASW would have worked on MvC:I too.

They respect the source material like no developer I have ever seen.

I rather think of it as Arc being the only ones left who can do such a thing like this, and do it SO well. You can tell it's just as much a labor of love and fandom, alike.

We don't get too much like this, anymore.

To be fair Capcom always treated Marvel's IP characters with respect. Even in MvC:I, the Marvel characters look much better than the Capcom ones.

Either the budget is super tiny this time, or Marvel is really controlling, but something is REALLY off affecting the that game.

Yep this will be my fav dragonballz game since bt3

I feel like they may wait until EVO for another trailer.

No, no, no, no, no. Trunks trailer now. New character(s) at Evo.

I can't see SSB being added to Goku's current in-game form unless they change his SSJ3 super move. I could see a Goku that starts at SSB and gets a Kaioken power-up, but then how do you handle SSB Vegeta?

I'm sure we'll get SSB for both, but not sure how they'd do this well.

Could be only a New super move, or a transformation that consumes ki, like sfv necalli

I could see it being a 5-bar super or something, but then I feel fans who want SSB will be disappointed. I can't see a transformation because what happens to the SSJ3 super while he's transformed? Does that change too? I guess that's possible, just seems strange.

For the record, you realize they can easily just not have him turn SSJ3 in the super and keep him in Blue form if he activated it...... ?

We already have an example of him using the super without SSJ3. (check the gif in the OT)

But Blue will not be an install. What I hope is that maybe they make EX versions for the characters that have Super variants. Trunks, Goku, 17, etc... but that's a lot of work so I think only Goku and Vegeta are gonna get the blue forms with FNF costumes.

I'm fine with SSB as a Super, it's not like Goku has necessarily done much in the way of unique attacks with it to merit having a standalone slot. My only thing is that it's just weird if it somehow didn't show up at all (Obviously very unlikely), since Golden Frieza made it in. If it was a thing where they just straight up did SSB Kaioken as a Super even, I'd be fine with that.

Yeah that's what I said, it would just change the animation in that kind of scenario. Although I think that non-SSJ3 super variant is a glitch, but I guess we'll see.

It should be interesting to see which characters get actual transformations like Golden Frieza.

They can just do it how Guilty Gear does it, and just change the super itself if you're currently in a form change.

At least, that's how Sol Badguy's Dragon Install works in Xrd. His whole moveset basically changes.

So if Goku is able to transform into SSJBlue during battle, executing the attack would just have him go SSJB Kaioken or something.

I don't see why Arcsys wouldn't allow the Sayians to change form, unless it became a balance issue. This artstyle's models are difficult to work with, but in this case they're literally just swapping hair out.

Ky Kiske already does this in Xrd, to a pretty significant extent. And this isn't even an attack -- his hair gets knocked loose from its ponytail if he takes enough damage during battle.

Call me crazy, but isn't that partly what we see with Golden Frieza? If anything else, his transformation could be seen as just a flashy "Dragon Install" that makes him all the more dangerous for a limited time.

None of Vegeta's moves have him transform during the animation, so it shouldn't be too hard to add a SSB install super for him. Goku, as I already mentioned, can go SSB for his install super, but swap the SSJ3 transformation in one of his supers for Kaio-Ken. I honestly don't see the problem.

Yeah, it is. Well, Golden Frieza is basically just a recolor, but in case anyone was thinking that this game's artstyle won't allow them that kind of "model swap" freedom, yeah it does.

I'm personally praying that we get some crazy transformations in this game.

Why am I just seeing someone bring up that they can edit models like this? Everyone has been saying since this game was announced that it's not feasible for them to do that.

where were u earlier bro

I was saying dont expect alt costumes. Sol Bad guy having a vastly visually improved dragon install with a new model isn't super shocking seeing how he's the main character of the series so of course he is gonna get some extra love. That shit is still all hand animated they did double the work for one character

Ky got a bit of special treatment as well being sol's series long rival
