WB Remaking Invasion Of The Body Snatchers

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers is coming to a pod near you, courtesy of producer John Davis and Warner Bros. David Leslie Johnson (Dungeons And Dragons, The Conjuring 2) is penning another remake of the classic film — and there couldn’t be a better remake to do. In the 1970s, the last time it was remade with Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams and Kevin McCarthy (who had been in the first remake), the United Artists movie became a political statement about cult leaders and conspiracy theorists in the time when 900 people died at Jonestown. It has those kind of undertones.

Sounds about right.

About every 20 years we revisit this thing.

The last one actually came out 10 years ago:

It sucked.

The Invasion with Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman is hilariously awful. This literally can't be worse than that.

Yeah this seems like maybe the 4th time now. Every generation seems to get it's own version, and for the most part they haven't been that bad.

Leading someone's credits with Dungeons and Dragons is the most delightful backhanded introduction I've seen in a while.

Maybe in this new version the Pod People act full of emotion, concerns and compassion, thus being a dead give away they're not the real deal

I only want to see a new version of this if it devolves into political commentary and it turns out that Republican voters are all alien plant clones.

Someone needs to get Jordan Peele or Charlie Brooker on the phone. I mean they are doing there on thing so not exactly them but someone on that mindset.

Nah, the movie is probably going to be played put completely tradationally.

It sucked.
It had that great trailer with a Sigur Ros song, I was expecting so much.

Shit was bad.

For some reason I thought this meant "The Double U B" TV channel and the bodies were gonna get snatched by cute, funny and angsty teens.

The blob seems overdue for a remake.

The Blob could be fun!

It's also time for The Fly. Those arseholes at Fox passed on a Cronenberg script for a Fly sequel a few years ago. Would have loved to see that. They'll probably roll some crappy flop remake off the production line with cheap looking CGI instead of disgusting prosthetics.

Good i love these films admittedly. Invasion is underrated imo. Love the conversation at the dinner table scene. Are they all aliens at the table or not is what you're supposed to ask, very intense scene.

You can bet any new horror remake is going to cut corners with CGI.

I think the director of Sleight is doing a remake of The Fly. I remember looking him up on Imdb after seeing Sleight and seeing that under his credits. Sleight was low budget but it did have a gross prosthetic in it, so there's hope!

Didn't they just do dis with Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman?

Anyways, the original movie was dope. They should just release that again. Maybe upgrade the film quality and vfx/audio. But keep it in black and white

I totally forgot about that one. Of course, I didn't see it. Last one I remember is this:

Of course, I haven't seen it since it premiered on HBO and got to see Gabrielle Anwar naked in it, but still.

This. I had the biggest crush on her. This film was a revelation.

See you get it. These film producers running dry on ideas are going about these remakes wrong. If the source material is B or A grade then you're vapid, soulless obvious cash grab isn't going to do shit and is never going to top the original. Aim for cult classic C movies that couldn't possibly get any worse and don't take them so seriously, give them to hungry up and coming directors.

The Wraith
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
The Stuff
Invaders From Mars
The Gate
Ghoulies

Shoot for stuff like that.
