But he has never even come close to it since. He has a good eye for a certain visual aesthetic but none of his story telling beats have hit anywhere near D9. The most intriguing things are what he HASN'T been able to make.

It kinda makes sense. If they're also doing a Helldivers movie, that would already cover the scifi autocracy parody movie. They don't need two at the same time.

This is one movie that does need a remake imo, as it's an awful adaptation.
It's like the cast of Dawson's Creek signed up to the military to fight bugs in space.
It is to Starship Troopers what The Rings of Power is to Lord of the Rings.
The only good thing about it is the CGI. Which still looks good today.

Oh come now, even if the satirical nature of the film or the bombastic fight scenes aren't your cuppa, you can at least appreciate the enduring memes from the film

and the "better make it 20"
plus the co-ed shower scene.
Just one of the all time great campy flicks.

I guess they didn't want to make another 'Aliens', but that would have been so much better imo.
The CG Starship Troopers movies went more that route. Even ST2 was way more horror than satirical action, but that's just because the budget was about $3.50.Sure, I can and do appreciate the memes.(exept the 'I'm doing my part sir')
