Yeap... I agree but I'm not ruling out the possibility due the software front, bundle and deals.2016 also was ahead at the same point. Jan-Jun 2016: 1,580,163
PS4 sold 3,121,000 in November + December 2015. Add in October and Q4 sold 3,396,000.
Q4 2016 sold 2,915,000 despite the PS4 Pro launch and the price drop to $299.
Jan-Jun 2014: 1,576,000
Jul-Dec 2014: 3,108,000
H1 % of total year sales: 34%
Jan-Jun 2015: 1,553,000
Jul-Dec 2015: 4,175,000
H1 % of total year sales: 27%
Jan-Jun 2016: 1,580,163
Jul-Dec 2016: 3,521,045
H1 % of total year sales: 31%
I wouldn't be surprised if 2017 see's a 35% split for H1. H2 2016 was disappointing and H1 2017 seems to be making up for that with quality software and excellent price deals. Q4 will most likely be down again this year so I can't see how this year is the peak year.
September: Destiny 2 bundle
October: Gran Turismo Sport bundle (I have to admit this one will be huge in Europe only)
November: CoD and Battlefront bundles
December: ???
Add these bundles close to $250 in November/December plus some $199 one at Black Friday.
I can see around 4m million in Jul-Dec making up this year the peak.
