Are you serious? The man is getting off of his deathbed, flying in a plane and going to the Senate just to vote to take 32 million people off health insurance, give tax breaks to the rich and increase the strain on people who are insured and you think the posts in this thread are an issue at all?

This vote is something that's going to put millions of lives in danger, and McCain is deciding to spend some of his last moments on Earth to give it his stamp of approval. This thread has actually been fairly fucking tame given the situation at hand.
Literally nobody knows what they're voting on tomorrow. McConnell's likely to pull whatever out of a hat if the MTP passes.
But man, there's a chance McCain could have a stroke on that flight. And he thinks this bullshit is worth dying for? Give me a goddamn break.
It's pathetic. As soon as someone starts talking about voting in favor of people needlessly dying like it's some matter-of-opinion shit like we're talking about whether Dark Souls 2 was really that disappointing I can't help but tune them out.
That's the problem - nobody knows exactly what the hell they're voting for. All they know is just that it's a "motion to proceed".

I really feel like they wouldn't do this unless they knew they had the votes. If it fails after rushing John McCain across the country in his hospital gown it would be too big a failure. Too embarrassing.

Senators don't know what exact bill they would be proceeding on. Could be BRCA. Could be the 2015 bill. Could be something else. Who knows! Maybe amendments get added. Maybe not?

We do not. They're basically promising different thing to different groups of Senators, and being massively unclear. At this point, it's pretty obvious that the goal here is to get the vote to proceed to debate out of the way and hope that the pressure to pass ANY kind of repeal gets them to 50. Past that...

This is just insanity. An 80-year old man rushing back from brain cancer to vote on a bill that he or nobody has debated or really knows anything about that would cause tens of millions of Americans, mostly the poor, to lose health care coverage.
