Awkward, I actually meant fastest selling not best selling, my mistake.
My point still stands though. The game was not a failure like people try and make it out to be. If the developers wish to expand on that, theres nothing wrong with that. They aren't beating a dead horse, its a successful game with post-release support like many games have nowadays. Everyone loves to ride that hate-train.

Also, more people finished FFXV in under a year than a majority of other FF games (some even older than five years) according to PSN statistics. What does that tell you?
It's like people ignore the fact that they announced this a while ago and people have already paid for it. What do you want them to do? Not deliver this content that was promised in the Season Pass? Jesus. And they are doing things every month to improve the game but you attack them for that too, so I am not sure what you want from them at this point.
Maybe you just want them to go the XIII route and make a bunch of sequels that people don't want.

Square Enix literally had a Season Pass for the game that they announced before the release. Players could buy the Season Pass hoping for additional content just like any other AAA game nowadays.
This online multiplayer expansion is a part of the fucking Season Pass. How is it hard to understand? They are dedicating resources to delivering the content that they have promised while they are also trying to release more free updates to the game and asking for content that can add to the game as judging from the survey.
If you don't like what they are doing with the game, simply ignore and move on. Atleast don't try to act dense in a thread about a multiplayer expansion that was confirmed for Season Pass months ago.

I am actually surprised FFXV fans were able to practically find the same locations as screenshots. That's some dedication.
New monsters are cool to see being added in DLC although the design is a rather interesting one.

I thought they already killed that, either in the movie or the game.
Oh yeah you're right. I think at the end of brotherhood. My memory is sort of fuzzy with all the different forms of media they incorporated into the game.

Ehh... the same monster is in FFXIV although of course the design will be different for each game. Don't expect the same one as in FFV.
You can now cheese the Adamantoise with the Ring of the Lucii's Alterna spell after one of the patches a few months ago, lol. Takes a few seconds if you're lucky. If it doesn't work on the first try just warp to one of the warp-points around you to fill up your MP quickly (or use an Ether) and try again. Super easy.
The "go here go here" gameplay is hated by fans as well and is only super obnoxious in ARR which is 4 years old. And even then, there's more to an MMO than the mission structure of normal quests lol

Gotta say, I haven't even touched XV since getting the Platinum for it. I was having an okay to good time while playing it but after finishing and reflecting on how crazy the camera would get and how weird the combat could feel at points, I just never wanted to go back.
This online expansion announcement has me really rubbing my chin if I should buy the season pass to get into the beta. I have a feeling the launch content will be pretty shallow but I'd love to build up a custom character and go on missions with other folks.

God I am sick and tired of this game's blind defenders.
Obviously it was the fastest-selling FF because it was the only mainline FF to be launched simultaneously worldwide. Like duh.
And if the reception was so good you guys wouldn't be whining about ppl who shit on it. A lot of people didn't like this game and it's obvious that the reception was meh overall.
That said, yes, this was announced a while ago so it's nothing unexpected. I'm fine with it as long as it's decent, is in no way an indicator of future FF's, and the Gamescom announcement is an awesome expansion.

I personally enjoy the normal combat system for noct.
The only problems for me are Battle-zoning and lack of item limits
EDIT: Oh, misread your post. You can surely just select it from the main game's menu like the other DLC so far regardless of whether you played singleplayer.
I'm not sure who blindly defends the title, most people who liked it say that it has problems.
I think what's more annoying than make believe blind defenders are the same 12 people who show up in every FF15 thread and say shit like, "Let it die already".
To your last sentence, I think you're confused. It's sitting at 7.6 on metacritic for users. That's pretty far from a meh overall reception, it's just that people who don't like it are very loud.

They fit the setting, but that player avatar so far looks so painfully generic, besides the tattooed woman, which I welcome as a breath of fresh air especially after the umpteenth cute catgirl and lizard lady on FFXIV. From these screenshots alone, there's nothing here that exudes personality, so it will be somewhat interesting to see what sort of story this thing will have, if indeed they remember to even tell one this time.

I wonder why every FFXV thread gets these blind haters. Every single time.
Everyone who like the game and "defend" it, always say it has flaws. Despite those flaws they enjoy the game. Is it that hard to understand?
I really enjoyed my time with the game and now I have been playing Zodiac Age first time ever (missed it on PS2). Its good game, but it's no where near as fun as FFXV was (for me at least). World is quite bland (30 hours in at the moment so cant say for a full experience), characters are not so interesting or dialogue for that matter (except maybe Balthasar), soundtrack is worse, battle system is better but not as fun, story is more coherent and scene directing is miles better. FFXV is good and fun game despite its flaws (bad directing, not enough cut scenes, story is not presented well even though it's pretty good, combat is bad for aoe bosses and side quests are trashy) for many people, get over it.

Getting really tired of all these blind people who love their game. Getting real bothersome for me to enter a thread of a game I don't like and announce to everyone that their game is garbage in one form or another.
The "blind defenders" actually make reasonable arguments, especially in this case, while the "blind haters" can't even understand basic logic. The multiplayer was promised as part of the season pass, it's as simple as that, yet you have people here acting like S-E is doing something outrageus and wasting their time.
The most amusing thing is that the "blind haters" are in every FFXV reminding everyone how they don't care about the game (yet they post in every thread about the game), it's like some strange obsession.

Who probably don't realize this FF has been completed probably more than any in the past. This Final Fantasy despite its problems is insanely popular with the casual crowd. It also probably was the only title in a long time to actually garner in new fans as well as old. There were more new players to this FF that I talked to than any other.
The gameplay base is incredibly poor and bereft of any depth or strategy.
I amnot sure why anyone would ever wanna play FFXV just for its gameplay.
MGS survive makes sense because it had one of the finest gameplay mechanics to build on.There is nothing worth revisiting here in terms of gameplay.

At least 2 new magic spells, a more deteriorated environment, likely new enemies and plenty of quests.
Or they want to expand upon the game they know people want expanded, unlike Konami, who didn't even let Kojima finish his game.

Well, they promised an online portion to their game. What were they supposed to do? Make it a co-op visual novel?
I'm not the biggest fan of the gameplay in XV either, but making my own character and playing the game in some sort of cooperative fashion already sounds a lot more fun than playing the base game. I gotta disagree.

You know what, yes, most people who like XV aren't blind. Most are able to admit the writing is garbage. But I do wish some people didn't make excuses for the game/the devs/SE.
1. 7.6 is absolutely a "meh" reception for a AAA title in a 30-year-old franchise, especially if the game was hyped up for 4 or 10 years
2. I never said I don't care about the game. Clearly I do. Otherwise I wouldn't be hoping for an awesome expansion and I wouldn't post about the game so much. Unless this was directed towards ppl who hate the game in general
3. I never groaned about the multiplayer in here since they announced it last year. Do I wish they canned it a long time ago and spent their resources on stuff for the main story? Yes, but it is what it is. And if it ends up being good and expands on the lore and adds some quality story content I might give it a shot. And they're announcing more stuff at Gamescom so

The combat can be fun if the A.I works and doesn't get killed so I only see the online as a positive and not a negative.
You will have human controlled characters so battles should be already better to play than the main game.

I didn't really like the game either, but I think it would be really nice if every thread didn't devolve into people insulting the game and people being offended that others were insulting the game. It's gotten so personal lately, with the same detractors and the same defenders, that the vitriol is distressingly real. I'm not saying one has to like the complainers, or like the game, it would just be great if we didn't treat both like they ran over our dog.

I've wanted multiplayer options for single-player Final Fantasy games since I played VII as a youngster for the first time. They're doing a lot of interesting things as well, including potentially fixing one of my gripes in detaching magic from the silly system in the main game. I'll give it some cautious attention, and maybe try it out with a few interested GAFers if anyone is down.

If you didn't like the game and want to talk about that, that's perfectly okay and in fact it's probably wise to make your dissatisfaction known given developer focus on feedback. It's more the tone (of both sides really) that could use some tweaking.
I'm pretty sure most of the people complaining don't care about giving developer feedback other than FFXV NEED TO DIE
It's one thing to be disappointed and expect some changes, its another to have this stupid idea that ffxv is sucking away development time and resources from other games so it need to be buried and forgotten forever
