Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer Expansion - First Look + Closed Beta August 3rd

Do you think we will be able to play as female characters in multiplayer?

I have the season pass. But do I still need the disc to play this?

Cause I traded my copy in.
Pretty sure you will need it like with the other DLC episodes. Why did you trade in the game if you got the Season Pass, or rather, why didn't you just wait until after you finished the game to see if you liked it before getting the Pass?^^

FF14 is crap imo, I am so glad they are doing this for FF15 though.

14 is a dated, archaic mess most of the time.

I do think XIV is archaic but an online DLC will never be the same as a full fledged MMO. It's just in another league, and it's not like this looks very innovative too.

Still curious to try it.

The GameStop trade in exploit was too good to resist. I got the game for $38, trade it in for $54.

Hopefully they'll add the Kingsglaive magic to Single Player XV with the free content update they everytime there's an expansion

It seems like GTA Online based on the details from the official site. A city that is explorable with quests which will let you level up and get new gear. I wouldnt be surprised at all if they add in microtransactions for gear which I don't have a problem with as long as they support the game like rockstar supports GTA online. Also, maybe that money could be used to add the missing story content which the game severely needs.

14 has better storytelling than XV. That means A LOT coming from an MMO. Heavensward was God Tier and Stormblood MSQ was very good to.

All these games are developed by other teams.
Still those teams cost money (resources) that could be spent on other projects. But yeah, they have to squeeze as much money out of this game as possible. In the end the DLCs aren't that different from a 15-2 or whatever you want to call it. It makes some sense from a business standpoint. That "testing ground"-theory also sounds realistic. But it's kinda sad that a company like Square-Enix has to test stuff like "off-road driving" and "exo suits" with payed DLC ...

I'd wish they bring the franchise back on track sooner than later. A hard cut and a professionally produced Final Fantasy 16. A new Final Fantasy game without all the clusterfuck around it that is going on with recent big Square-Enix Projects (1st version of FF14, FF15, KH3, FF7R).

Offroad driving and exo suits are free updates. The character episodes and multiplayer expansion are the paid DLC.

FFXV is done. Everything added after has been things the devs wanted to support the game with. But sure, the free updates like Moogle Chocobo Carnival, New Game +, Timed Quests, Off-road Driving, more costumes, accessories, weapons costs the consumer a lot of money.

Every add-on has been free save the six things from the Season Pass.

Yup.

To this extent though? Was this listed in the functions they listed they had hoped to add to the game even? This announcement just blindsided me is all.

When the Season Pass details hit (before the game launched IIRC) they listed Online Expansion as one of the items. It's been known.

Haven't touched the game since the Gladio dlc, have Prompto downloaded, but given my progress (still haven't made it to Altissia), will probably hold on playing until my campaign progress catches up to it.

Will give this beta a shot, bought the season pass along with the game anyway.

Errr not really no, not unless they wanted to shaft paying customers or if their season pass money.

This isn't them developing something from the goodness of their hearts... This is content that has already mostly been paid for by customers who wanted more via the season pass...

Squeenix isn't pulling it war chest money for this stuff.

They already succeeded 4 years ago. It's called FFXIV. It will probably make more money for S-E this year than FFXV ever will in its lifetime.
FFXIV is a subscription based mmo which is very different from GTA Online. As far as I can tell, this is the first single-player SE game getting a major multiplayer expansion.

Honestly it's stuff like this that has keeps me away from buying XV right now.I didn't have the money at launch and and decided to wait until I had the funds, but then I was told of a frame rate patch on PS4pro, then I was told updated stuff like off road cars were coming, then power rangers stuff, now an actual multiplayer mode?

I kind of just want to wait until this game stops getting regular content so that I can just download the likely 20+ extra gigs I'll need to download for it all.

It's a subscription based MMO which also makes tons of money from selling cosmetics, single-use items, and progression boosts on an online cash store. The best of both worlds for S-E. :D

Actually looks pretty interesting, will give this a try. I've wanted a multiplayer Final Fantasy game that doesn't suffer from being an MMO for ages.

Incredible how much it still needs, maybe.

They are making use of all the assets that were already created but didn't make it into the final game because it had to be released "early".

I really love FFXV, but could have loved it more if everything had been included. But I'd rather have this content in DLC if otherwise it would be lost alltogether.

Yes! you will need it, they're not stand alone (only games that create a new app in your dashboard doesn't need the original one), in this case you need to open the main game to play the dlcs.

I mean it is kind of smart of them to charge for progression potions with absurd prices and then drop expansions that tempt the player to return. Very business-y move I will say.

I never got to Heavensward due to the amount of fetch quests i couldnt stomach getting through them.

For all those offended by my post, its only my opinion if it offends you so much just block me.

FF14 is an MMO. You can not like it or it's gameplay, but to say it's archaic is just hyperbole

It is archaic. Compare it to BDO (non charge) GW2 (non charge) for example, the go here go there gameplay is from 10 years ago, no innovation whatsoever. Flame me as much as you want, its only my opinion but no need to get all defense force and call it hyperbole.

Yes, I don't think people realized that despite the sales of FFXIII

FFXI was squares number profit machine and even is STILL making them a good amount of money

I would compare FFXIV to BDO.......but i got lost by the fact that the Dev's couldn't bother with progression armor.

Everytime I see a copy of FFXV for sale at 25€ or less, I am reminded how disappointing Final Fantasy main titles are now (including FFXIV 1.0 ; 2.0 and onwards are good).
FFXII was flawed (and still is, even with the updated re-release), but remained enjoyable overall.
FFXIII and its sequels seriously soured my opinion of Square-Enix, as I couldn't relate to the characters and the gameplay wasn't that great.
FFXIV 1.0 was a cataclysm. It is a freaking miracle that Yoshida pulled off by rebuilding the game from zero, and made it work.
FFXV has disappointed many, and although the characters are seen as the high point of the game, everything else is subpar.
The only thing which is almost always good is the music (Soken, Hamauzu and Shimomura are all extremely talented artists).

I am not expecting anything from new mainline Final Fantasy titles. I am not excited for the FFVII remake. Heck, I am not even sure I want to play Kingdom Hearts III at this point (despite the fact that I love this series' gameplay).
My reaction is a far cry from the one I had when I was younger and eagerly awaiting a new Final Fantasy title. And I don't believe that this is only because I've grown older.

Square-Enix has lost his focus. No one asked for a multiplayer mode for FFXV. The game wasn't designed that way to begin with. It will be released too late anyway. People have moved on.

Now, if it turns out to be good, good for them I guess. The thing is, will it be entirely free or will there be some kind of monetization? This question begs for an answer.

Is it archaic because it charges monthly, or was there something about the game that was archaic? Just out of interest. Not disrespecting your opinion, but I'd like to understabd it beyond just being trash.
