You can make an argument the only reason that movie made whatever money it made was cuz of Beyoncé. If she wasn't in it the movie probably would have made even less. You know what most Beyoncé fans like? Disney.

They are not buying it for her voice
They are buying what Beyoncé can offer as an asset to the movie

Pay 25milly now, reap 5-10 times the benefits later.
Have people who might not be interested in TLK Live Action all of a suddenly pay attention

Bring her fandom and their eyeballs and purchasing dollars towards Disney coffers

Smart fucking move, rather than create fake Hype or request people to like and share just to to get a blip for their thing, this thing will look so grassroots natural, yet a fucking conglomerate doing everything behind the scenes

To be honest, I have a hard time believing he and Bey will have any chemistry.

For Scar, give me Jason Isaacs, Javier Bardem or Andy Serkis.

Watch a Cure for Wellness. Jason Isaacs have some very terrifying scenes akin to how Scar would've been if he wasn't in an animated musical for the whole family.

Captain America 3 also didnt need RDF....he was still part of the project because it meant even more money. Thats how they operate - why just produce a big movie when you could invest a bit more and have one of the biggest ever.

Kii at people complaining. I'd understand if this was a decade ago, but her last 3 albums have been on another creative level entirely. This is a great contemporary choice. Why does everything in the new version have to be the same as the original?

Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumba

This movie is gonna be fucking amazing.
 
Sounds fine I guess, but I'm certainly not as convinced by her music production capabilities as the legendary Sir Elton.

Girls Trip is considered the best comedy of the year so far, it goes beyond the black demo. Look at its hold on the 2nd weekend, that's word of mouth not that just black people are going in droves to see it.

Saying black people go hard for black films is so ignorant. Yeah sure, you got Tyler perry movies making 60/70m every once in a while but chill out with that crap.

However this movie turns out we still will have the original - so ill try to stay openminded but im not expecting too much.
 
i have no issues with this especially since they're going to give her some of the best writers/use original songs from the original movie.

In other words, they can't take away the original.

What is this post and what are you angry about? You're mad he said black women support movies starring black women? Then you're just randomly talking about Tyler Perry movies.

Also there's just like a weird random hate for certain black celebrities on gaf. I didn't know Beyonce had it like Will Smith here.
 
I'm fine with her doing voice work, I'm just not into her music, at all, so I'd rather she's minimal on that front.

Because a group of people aren't supporting something JUST because it has black individuals in it...people have a mind of their own and see what they want to see. Broad and ignorant statements about black people supporting anything movie related just because it has a black cast is silly.
